OS X V10.7 Lion :: How To Stop Numbering (hit Return Twice) But To Remove List Entirely
Apr 18, 2012
how to remove a list (be it a numbered list or a bulletted list) from Mail?I know how to stop the numbering (hit return twice) but to remove the list entirely... no idea! I've tried reducing indent etc. but without success. Control shift return simply adds a carriage return without reducing the indent. I've searched on-line and in the forums but with no success.

In Lion, System Preference, Print & Scan, Printer column, +... Takes you to your list of printers. I would like to remove all of those printers, to start fresh. How can I do this?
how to remove an old iPhone (that I no longer have access to) from the Device List in Colorsync Utility? I've done a spotlight search for the text and have come up empty handed. It must be hiding in a plist somewhere...but where?

Version 10.6.1 no longer allows use of the space bar to start and stop the currently playing music. Also, the return key can no longer be used to strart a song. I find it very convenient to use the space bar to stop and start the music.

I want to connect a wireless Epson XP 510 printer. Installed drivers from the Epson website but they do not appear to be compatible according to the drop down list in the apple menu for adding a printer.
In my house, there are several available WiFi networks, including my airport. I tried joining one of the others once when mine was down, and now my computer regularly attempts to join that one when ever it wakes up. Can I make it forget to join that network, or make mine its first preference?
I have a problem with the song tranfert to my ipad 3 and my iphone. When I add new song to a current transfert list, itunes stop and delete the previous download and restart the sync. I think the problem is new because i haven't noticed it before.Â
I unintentionally clicked 'remove from recipients list' an email address I use all the time, now I can't undo the remove, and Mail won't autofill this address when I go to make a new email.
There used to be a way in 10.5 via some hidden preference to remove the alternating row colors in list view. I have a feeling that this hidden feature been eliminated... can anyone confirm?
When I click the Airport Networks icon in the menu bar (top right), my airport detects all the available networks. It lists some networks which are not mine and don't even require a password. Is there some way to remove these specific networks from the list, and so they don't get detected again? (I don't want to click by mistake a network that's not mine)
in my calendar, I have a list of 'categories' with different coloring but I am wanting to remove the colors/highlighting but can't find how to do that.
Does anyone have experience to go back to Snow Leopard Lion? With Carbon Copy Cloner, it is not possible. As I have stated there is only one way to reformat system partition and reinstall Leopard Snlow.
I'd like to disable the 'stop recording' button on the menu bar during screen capture on 10.6.I know that Quicktime X doesn't have the option of changing preferences and I've seen some codes out there that will alter certain preferences, but not this one.
The default behaviour of Macs seems to be to wake up from sleep whenever a USB device is disconnected or switched off. This is not very helpful for how I like to operate. I want to keep most of my files on an external USB drive without power-down feature so that I have fast access to them at the click of a mouse button (don't want to wait for the drive to spin up as can happen frequently if your drive has the power-down feature). However, I like to sleep my Mac several times a day, and when doing so would like to switch off the external USB HD until I get back. So you see the annoyance, but perhaps there is a way to disable this wakeup feature of Leopard. I'd be happy to learn it from you!
I have a new install of Mac 10.7.4 on a 21" iMac. I have the iMac set to automatically log out after 14 minutes of idle time. On many occasions when the logout is triggerd, the user account will log out, but the screen does not display the login window, it still shows an image of the last state of when the computer was logged in. When I move the mouse, the screen acts as if it's erasing the pixels off the screen, showing bits and pieces of the login screen in the background. If I type a user ID and password, a small area clears around the login fields so I can see the fields and log in.Â
This was originally happening when a screen saver was enabled, I have since removed the screen saver. This did not make a difference.Â
I have the Preference Pane>Security>Advanced set to log out at 14 minutes and the Preference Pane>Energy Saver>Display Sleep set to go black at 15 minutes.Â
I have tried various different times/settings, but have not been able to fix this.Â
Since this configuration is for a Lab setting, I really need for the computer to log out cleanly and go back to the login screen.Â
In Microsoft Outlook 2011, hitting "Enter" (the tall, vertical, right-most bottom corner button on my numeric keypad) sometimes (but not always) causes an email to be sent, when I wasn't done typing and simply wanted to do a Return. I want to make sure this never happens again, but I'd like the option of hitting the Enter key to go to the next line - can I somehow redefine the Enter key at the OS level so that pressing it always sends a "Return" code to any software (such as Outlook)?
I am using Safari four and often like to use command-[number] to select my bookmarks using the keyboard rather than having to click on them or guess what number they are.
is there a way to do this? i'd like to have a small number that identifies the position of the bookmark on the bar so that i can quickly know what number to press.
I am trying to use multiple page numbering formats in iWork Pages 08 but I cannot figure out how to do this, or if it is at all possible. I am placing my page numbers in the footer but I am requiring a rather complex system. I am writing my university thesis paper, and this makes page numbering a headache. First off, my Cover page and Abstract page cannot have page numbers on them, then the Table of Contents and Preface must use the Roman numberal page numbering Format. Finally, when I reach the Introduction down to the reference pages, those will require the Arabic page numbering format. Is it at all possible to have these mulitple page numbering Schemes present in a single document? Or am I forced to write every section as a separate document (which completely renders the Table of Contents application useless). Please help becuase I have tried everything I can think of and I do not know why this feature is unavailable. furthermore, the steps for ensuring your coverpage is without a number is just rediculously long.
I am trying to add page numbers to a document in Pages. The document is in Page Layout as opposed to word processing and is a custom sized page. When I go to Insert, nearly all the possible choices, including Page Number, are inactive.
As I am discovering Pages, more and more issues come at hand. I am writing a long paper, with different chapters. In order to be able to change the order of the chapters I please, I have made a section out of each and every one. Now I face the following problem: The first, I think, four pages I have enumerated with roman numbers, the rest I wish to have in Arabic numbers. However, now that I have introduced sections, each sections restarts the arabic numbers. So, e.g, page 10 start as 1, page 11, again, as 1. Each next page is a new section, therefore, starting with one. So, how do I make those sections behave properly, and continue numbering properly?
I am writing a legal brief, and I need to have different numbering systems for each section of my brief, but I can't figure out how to do it in Office 2008. One for the cover page, roman for the table, and arabic for the rest.
