ITunes :: 10.6.1 Space Bar And Return Keys No Longer Stop And Start Music?
Mar 31, 2012
Version 10.6.1 no longer allows use of the space bar to start and stop the currently playing music. Also, the return key can no longer be used to strart a song. I find it very convenient to use the space bar to stop and start the music.

I've been using itunes for a while and it just messed my entire music library up! I've found something that is more Winamp style for me named "Cog". Now my problem is that I want to control it with the F7, F8, F9 keys which are the rewind, play and forward keys, but when pressing any of them it works both on itunes and cog player. How can I disable the Itunes link to it? I want it to control only Cog player.
The 'Return' and 'Backspace' keys on my mac have recently stopped working. Nothing was spilled on them and nothing seems to be wrong with them when pressed down. I also removed the keys and checked that there was nothing in the way, but there wasn't. I have rung apple and they said it would need to be taken into a store, but there isn't one near by and it will be a few weeks until i can take it in. In the meantime, is there any way that I could remap the keys in question to another couple of keys. For instance right command and right option?
My MBP has this issue every once in a while where I have to hold the power button and force shut down. Randomly the volume keys/brightness etc. stop working and i can't open apps or shut it down normally. Everything still works though (can still function in open applications) Anyone know what the problem is? It fixes when I force reset.
This has happened twice to me. Each time I've gone from an iPhone to a different OS phone, either ALL my music disappears from my MacBook or (as most recently) a portion has deleted..... And if I try to rebuy the songs, it says I already have them? but they aren't there....I respect iPhones, but I enjoy the phone I have now and don't plan on going back to an iPhone any time soon.Â
I have a sparse disk image and inside of it I deleted a folder with 7 gig in it. I emptied the trash. However the used size did not change! It was 22 gig before and now after deletion it's still 22 gig. If I add up the file sizes in my head it's 15 gig used as expected but Finder etc. still claims 22 gig is used as if my 7 gig not delete!
If I have some MP3 files on my computer that have not been imported into iTunes and I import them by selecting them and opening them (thereby opening iTunes, copying the files to the Music folder, and adding it to the library), I noticed that the pause button becomes a stop button when it automatically starts playing a track. If I click the stop button, it stops playing the track, and when I click play again, it is not a pause button.
I bought a new Mac pro tower. I transferred music from my old Mac pro to the new via an external hard drive. Now the songs stop playing before the end.
When I used to delete a song from my iTunes library it would ask me if I wanted to also remove it completely from my computer. Now it no longer does and I cannot find a option to get that back. Can someone tell me where I can get iTunes to do this again?
how to remove a list (be it a numbered list or a bulletted list) from Mail?I know how to stop the numbering (hit return twice) but to remove the list entirely... no idea! I've tried reducing indent etc. but without success. Control shift return simply adds a carriage return without reducing the indent. I've searched on-line and in the forums but with no success.

1. There are albums on my iPhone that don't appear in iTunes after sync. I want to delete them.Â
2. The album in question has a song that is alphabetically at the top of my All Songs list and plays automatically every time I plug my phone into the USB in my car.Â
3. I want to stop the auto play and delete albums I don't want on my iPhone before I go INSANE!!!!Â
I am running OSX 10.9.3 on a 3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with 12GB RAM, and itunes 11.2.2 (3) 64 Bit. My itunes library is large (approx 1 TB) and contains mostly ripped CDs, vinyl and ripped DVDs and BluRays. I usually add media using the File/Add to Library command. This set up has been reliable for a couple of years at least.Â
At time of writing itunes will still happily add music files, but is no longer happy to add movie files. I get a message telling me that the disk which contains my itunes library (I use a 2TB external HD) cannot be written to or read from. Clearly this isn't true as I can write music files to it. Â
I tried disk repair in the disk utility and it tells me the drive is healthy. I thought maybe there is a maximum itunes library size. As a check I tried starting a completely new itunes library on a different external drive and the problem persists.Â
I have >500GB spare space on the drive containing my itunes library. All my drives are formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) so should not suffer any file size limitation.Â
I accidentally erased a music album that I purchased on iTunes. How can I get the iTunes store to recognize that it is no longer in my iTunes library and download it again?
I have problem that occur in my Mac product below MacBook Pro15-inch, Mid 2012Software OS X 10.9.4 (13E28) <--- which is mavericks versionÂ
my question as above title, my iTunes sudden start playing music without clicking the apps.I have try search to fix the this, but it still do this. It happen after i updated this OS X.
On my MacBook Pro, several keys have suddenly stopped working. The "/", all arrow keys, and the "=" are no longer functioning. I have restarted, shut down and restarted, to no avail.
The media keys on my MacBook Pro (retina, 13-inch, late 2013, OS X 10.9.3) don't work anymore with iTunes. All other function keys work. All other function keys continue to work when "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" is selected in System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Keyboard, but F7, F8, and F9 still do not do anything. I have not found a way to map them either.

Every now and then while I'm on the laptop for a while my keys stop working out of no where. I hit the keys and nothing comes up? So I have to shut it down or restart then it works again. Is there something wrong with it or is there randomly something I'm doing?
I upgraded yesterday, and since then my key commands no longer work. If I restart, they will work for a little while, then suddenly stop working. I cannot take screen shots, or get Expose to work with F10, F12, etc. Apple-Tab doesn't bring up the applications currently open, etc. I've searched all over for this issue, but not finding anything. On a Macbook Pro, upgraded from Tiger.
I have a mid-2007 Macbook Pro (A1226). I accidentally spilt soup on it, and now the "z, x, c" keys no longer work. The apple store said I need a keyboard replacement. However, do you think that if I take apart the keyboard and clean it with rubbing alcohol, it will fix it? Or if not rubbing alcohol, what kind of solution could I use?
I've looked through System Preferences and can't find a way to stop pressing keys or clicking the mouse from waking up the computer. Has anyone been successful in doing this, or am I out of luck?
My coworker has a Macbook Air he seldom uses, but when he does, the bottom row of keys stop working after the computer's been on for about 5 minutes. I just search and didn't find anything, but have any of you guys had that problem? Just curious if anyone's heard of a solution before he takes it down to Apple.
Whenever I assign shortcut keys to Spaces using the Expose' & Spaces panel in System Preferences, it seems that in a day or two the shortcut keys no longer work and System Preferences shows them as being unassigned. I thought there may be a conflict with another shortcut but there isn't - at least according to the Keyboard & Mouse panel in System Preferences. This happens on both my MBP and my iMac as well as on the PowerMac I recently sold. I've tried other keys and combinations but with the same results. I've also experienced this in all versions of Leopard including the current 10.5.7. I'm using F8 to activate Spaces, Command + Option + Arrow key to switch between Spaces and Command + Option + Number key to switch directly to a Space. Has anyone else experienced this?
