I am writing a legal brief, and I need to have different numbering systems for each section of my brief, but I can't figure out how to do it in Office 2008. One for the cover page, roman for the table, and arabic for the rest.
View 3 RepliesAs I am discovering Pages, more and more issues come at hand. I am writing a long paper, with different chapters. In order to be able to change the order of the chapters I please, I have made a section out of each and every one. Now I face the following problem: The first, I think, four pages I have enumerated with roman numbers, the rest I wish to have in Arabic numbers. However, now that I have introduced sections, each sections restarts the arabic numbers. So, e.g, page 10 start as 1, page 11, again, as 1. Each next page is a new section, therefore, starting with one. So, how do I make those sections behave properly, and continue numbering properly?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use multiple page numbering formats in iWork Pages 08 but I cannot figure out how to do this, or if it is at all possible. I am placing my page numbers in the footer but I am requiring a rather complex system. I am writing my university thesis paper, and this makes page numbering a headache. First off, my Cover page and Abstract page cannot have page numbers on them, then the Table of Contents and Preface must use the Roman numberal page numbering Format. Finally, when I reach the Introduction down to the reference pages, those will require the Arabic page numbering format. Is it at all possible to have these mulitple page numbering Schemes present in a single document? Or am I forced to write every section as a separate document (which completely renders the Table of Contents application useless). Please help becuase I have tried everything I can think of and I do not know why this feature is unavailable. furthermore, the steps for ensuring your coverpage is without a number is just rediculously long.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, I'm still new to the whole Mac OS X happening, just got my MacBook about three of weeks ago (very happy with it ^__^). But, there's this little problem. I'm now using Microsoft Office 2008, and I often use Page Breaks. Previously, on the windows computer I used, I could simply press ctrl + return to insert a page break, but this is not a standard shortcut in the Mac version.
My solution - or at least, I hoped it would be a solution - was to use a custom shortcut for Microsoft Word via the System Preferences. I would like to set it to either ctrl + return or cmd + return, but it doesn't work.. However, when I try a shortcut like ctrl + cmd + down - or really anything without the return key - it works just fine. So, here comes the actual question; Is there any way to incorporate the return key within the shortcut?
Ohh, and now another problem comes in mind, I've got this Video_TS dir on my HD from a dvd which I tried to open, but when it's opened it simply 'plays' the menu. So I'm unable to actually select the option from it, and it simply goes to other part - like chapter selection - afterwards.It also plays little bits of the files, hangs for while, and skips a bit, then repeats the cycle.
Anyone familiar with it? I use VLC Player Open Disk... with the Video_TS folder option.Ohh, and the files play fine on the windows pc next to me.. I realise this last question maybe should be in another topic, or has already been answered somewhere on the forum. But I did do a search for the first one, and couldn't find any information on it.
I am using Safari four and often like to use command-[number] to select my bookmarks using the keyboard rather than having to click on them or guess what number they are.
is there a way to do this? i'd like to have a small number that identifies the position of the bookmark on the bar so that i can quickly know what number to press.
Do anyone know where the productkey file for MS office 2008 is located or if I, in some way, can change my product key in this program?

Unfortunately, i had already had a different version of office for mac that contained a different name (my friend's) who had licensed the product and registered for it. Now that i paid and have office for mac 2011, i'd like the product to be installed, licensed and registered under my name. unfortunately, i don't know how to change the name that says it's still registered to, when it should be registered to me now.

I have click everywhere on out side edge but I cannot edit the background. It shows the fill icon with a blue image looking thing but when I click on the fill icon I cannot select a color. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have office loaded on my Mac. I work with a variety of spreadsheets and different applications like Open Office, Access, Excel. Most of my data comes from applications on the PC side. When using Office for Mac, I open a new Excel spread sheet and copy and paste data from one of the other applications. So I have a column of dates in Open Office, I copy the date column and paste into Office for Mac Excel.
When I do this the dates change by plus or minus 4 years. So if I move data labeled 10/8/2010 when I paste it into Office for Mac Excel I get 10/8/2014 or 10/8/2006. Sometimes I even get a different month or day along with the plus or minus 4 years on the year. When I move the data into Office for PC Excel I don't have the problem. The dates copy over just fine. I am not using date formulas or functions. It is simply dates put into the column that I am trying to copy into a single spreadsheet.
Is anyone familiar with word processing in Pages? No matter what I do, every time I hit 'Enter' it will automatically number the lines.

Is it possible to move an item from the "More" section of the Contextual Menu up to the main section? In the attached screen shot you can see an item "Snag Path Unix" at the very bottom. I use this function about 100 times a day and it is very inconvenient that I have to go through a submenu for that.

This only ripped the main video, which is what I was expecting, but is it possible to rip the bonus sections as well (either as seperate videos or all in one video with the main one)? I'm going to give Mac the Ripper a go for backing up my dvds because as far as I can tell this will give me a file that will be just like the dvd with the menus and the bonus sections. Is that right? If handbrake can't do what I'm asking, can I add the file Mac the Ripper creates to iTunes or would I need to use Mac the Ripper to create a back up of a dvd and Handbrake to make a copy to use in iTunes?

My problem is that on the second page, I would like the document to continue on without any table. I would like for the text to flow from the table into regular margin document on the second page. Is there a way to do this?
I am using the "White" template, and on my top page, the page title is right there in my webpage. How can I get rid of this? When I load the page with text edit, I get some crazy Apple page, so I don't seem to be able to edit the HTML directly. Honestly, I hope to find solutions to problems like these so that I can avoid HTML in the future.

What is the best way to eliminate Office 2008 and to ensure a clean Office 2011 install?
For most Mac programs, I would normally drag the application folder to the trash, and then do a library search for some entries related to the program. Will this work for Office 2008 to Office 2011? I ask because the M$ installers seem to more than simply add the app to your app folder and update the libraries - and don't get me started on the horrors of the Windoze registry errors.
Somebody told me that Mac version of MS Office is incompatible with MS Office for Windows .

One of the requirements was if we had a Mac, to have Office 2008. I have talked to a friend who is replacing her current Macbook with another Macbook later in the summer, and we decided that when she bought her Macbook, that we could split the price of Microsoft Office for Mac 2008. Now, should I just go ahead and continue on with the plan with my friend, or what? Is there a huge difference in Office 2004 and Office 2008?

I have decided to convert from being a pc user to have a go with a mac as i have heard so much positive info about its OSX operating system.
I have many word files etc (obviosuly coming from a pc).

Which one if all of these will enable me to just plug in my usb stick and download all my word/ excel files and pictures without any issues and edit/ change/send again without any issues.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just installed Office for Mac 2008 and after my name it picked up another line of data. I'm not sure if it propagated and I missed it, or what happened. Anyway, I tried to uninstall and reinstall Office, and also tried emptying the trash before the reinstall. However, I cannot get the screens to come up that ask for the product key and name so that I can correct this. Does anyone know how to do this?
