View 2 RepliesI've got a very annoying issue with Mail 5.2 (1257). I customized the main application window so that it would only take a small amount of screen space. My problem now, is that every time I close Mail and open it again, it looks like much larger. So I have to rescale the window every time I open Mail, which is quite frustrating. How to force Mail to keep the same window size?

If I restart it its back to a real small size again and with a 11" MBA that is small.

I have a rather silly query. With most windows, they open in the last position and size that they were closed. This general behaviour appears to hold true for most applications, whether system preferences, native applications, or third party applications. However, I have noted - to my great frustration - that TextEdit does not conform to this behaviour. Instead, it chooses to open in a specific place and size each time, regardless of what I do. Anything I can do to fix this.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I open the force quit window, it fills my entire screen, and it is larger than the screen of the TFT monitor that I am using from time to time. How can I change its size back to original? The window is not resizable by dragging its border or clicking the green plus button in the title bar. Â
I don't know how the window got this size in the first place. All I know is that it happened during a crash where I closed a lot of other windows and where I accidentially clicked the green plus button of the force quit window instead of the red x.

View 2 Replies View RelatedNormally, the Finder window will display a folder's size in the Size column. However, I have one folder which shows as "Zero KB" in the Size column. When I open the General Info window, the Size reads as "Zero KB on disk (Zero bytes) for 0 items."
In order to get the folder size I have to go into the folder, select all folders, then with either the Summary Info or Inspector window, it'll show the folder size ("185.32 GB on disk").
Why is this occurring in only this folder? Is it because it's a large folder?
I'm running Snow Lep 10.6.2. The folder is on an external drive in FAT32 format.
i like to have my movies, pictures, downloads and documents folders always open in cover flow with the cover flow window at a certain size. whenever i go back to the finder after a login or reboot the cover flow window size always goes back to the default which is tiny. this is even after ive tried to keep it at a particular size and selected always open in cover flow in view options. i was hoping 10.5.1 would fix this. does this happen to anyone else? does anyone know how to keep cover flow windows at a certain size? heres a few pics to explain what i mean.
the first picture is how big i want to cover flow window to look. the second picture is how the cover flow window always seems to want to go back to. the third picture is the view options of that finder window

View 10 Replies View RelatedI've been searching Google for a solution to this - I like all my Finder windows to be the same size, no matter what folder it is. Keeps everything looking universal. Nothing annoys me more than having to keep resizing bloody windows, because the default size has horizontal and vertical scroll bars! I like my Finder window to accommodate 5 folders horizontally.
I've been looking into Terminal commands to see if there is anything in there that would allow me to change the default dimensions, but found nothing.
I'm a mac newbie and I installed Office for Mac '08 today. I don't see an option to have Office remember the window size and position. So every time I open Word, Powerpoint, etc they open so that they take up 60% of the screen. How can I have the programs remember the size and position of the window?

My computer is set up with a network drive that does not allow for the new feature "versions" to function properly. I guess at some point a window popped up and asked if I wanted to save anyway and I clicked the "do not show message again" and cancel. Well it has remembered my choice to not show this message again but now it just permanently overwrites and saves text files when I close them without even hesitating. So 10 minutes ago I had a very important file open and accidentally modified it, I was done with the file but did not want to save it so instead of undoing I just closed the file. This new system has completely overwritten the file with this new version and when I reopen it there are no undo options or previous versions available to restore. How do I turn this stupid feature off?
