Since I have been using Safari, it's windows open to the maximum size of the screen. Recently it has begun to open in at a small size. Is there anyway to save how large the window is when the program is launched, or a new window is opened?
View 2 RepliesI'd like to set up Safari so that when I click the green "Maximize" button on the top left, the Safari window goes to a certain size and when I click it again, it goes to another size. Is there any way to do this? I've never really seen a use for Safari's green button as it doesn't really do anything that I can see.

i have a 27" iMac and when i use Safari i usually increase everything 2 times ( hit command + twice ) for each page.
Well Safari doesn't seem to remember my settings and each time i visit a new page or the same page, i have to Command + twice each and overtime.
Is there a way to set it to automatically increase it x2 for everything? or atlas save the settings for that page?
When I click to add an image for example to Craigslist the window that pops up is huge why is this? How do I make it normal size?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a mac newbie and I installed Office for Mac '08 today. I don't see an option to have Office remember the window size and position. So every time I open Word, Powerpoint, etc they open so that they take up 60% of the screen. How can I have the programs remember the size and position of the window?
Late '08 MBP.
I use a third party app., MacStock Manager. I have to resize the window every time it is opened and wonder if I'm stuck with this situation? This is the only time a window is not the same size as when it was closed. Using a new iMac with Snow Leopard.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNormally, the Finder window will display a folder's size in the Size column. However, I have one folder which shows as "Zero KB" in the Size column. When I open the General Info window, the Size reads as "Zero KB on disk (Zero bytes) for 0 items."
In order to get the folder size I have to go into the folder, select all folders, then with either the Summary Info or Inspector window, it'll show the folder size ("185.32 GB on disk").
Why is this occurring in only this folder? Is it because it's a large folder?
I'm running Snow Lep 10.6.2. The folder is on an external drive in FAT32 format.
I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!
How can I change the google search to search google.co.uk? 90% of the time I'm only interested in UK stuff. Other wise I end up doing the search then editing the .com to .co.uk and sending again. Which seems very silly. Or loading up google UK in the first place.

Yes, I'm well aware of Command-click, right-click, etc. Those are not a good solution. It's the surprise new windows that bother me.
I'd like these surprise links to open as tabs rather than windows. However, I'd also like specifically-sized Javascript pop-up windows to open the way they were designed to: As pop-up windows.
I've used Saft in the past. It does a nice job with the first half of the problem, but does not accommodate the specifically-sized Javascript pop-up windows.

I'm trying to use Safari on Windows again now that a smooth scroll extension has finally been released. However, I have now encountered another problem and was hoping someone could point me to the relevant option or checkbox to make this work. I like to make the text size on different websites different sizes using Ctrl & +. That works fine. However, unlike Firefox, IE and Chrome, Safari keeps forgetting my text size preferences, so when I close it and then re-open it, every website where I've altered the text size has gone back to the default text size. Is someone able to tell me how to get Safari to remember these text size preferences?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Safari 5.0.2. Lately every time I use Safari at some point during usage when I try to open a new tab or window I cannot do so. What happens is the new tab or window may or may not open. If it does open when I type in a website it will either appear in the new tab or window and also change the previous tab or window to the same website, or it will fail to load in the new tab/window and only change the previous tab/window to what I'm trying to load.
My other half has a showreel on the web. If I load the page on my MBpro I can view it no problem. But on her MacBook ( black running Tiger ), she can not load it. She clicks on the play button, and then gets a message saying she doesn't have the correct plug-ins.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI launch my apps via quicksilver (which is a god) and then from there will hit ⌘+(1-9) to head to any of my menu bar links... or at least that was my usual gig. The recent hick-up is when safari is launch (whether or not it is from q.s. or the dock) a new window opens up, but then deselects it's self, as if a different window was openend and selected... but no, there's nothing else. Therefor I can't command anything with out physically selecting the window with my mouse. Rather annoying. That or, ⌘+Tab to a different program then back to safari.

Here is an example of what I mean, in google mail, if I choose the google finance option, it opens it in a while new window, not in a new tab in the same window.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUp 'till now I've been using Saft to add some functionality for Safari. I used it for two reasons: to open new pages in tabs rather than windows, and to autoclose the downloads window after the downloads have finished. Now, the first reason no longer exists as Safari 5 has this functionality built in. Unfortunately, retaining Saft dramatically messes up the tab functionality, so I don't use it anymore. I still hate it that Safari keeps the download will open indefinitely, though. I know SafariStand provides the option to have the download window close, but SafariStand is much much more than I need.
Now, I know Safari 5 has a new extension functionality, but I'm no programmer myself. My question is whether anybody knows about a small extension that adds the possibility to have the download window close automatically after the downloads close, and not much more?
When I click in a link that opens in a new window, it opens without the toolbar/address bar. So I have to go to menu>view>show toolbar to enable it manually. I've searched in the Preferences and other menus, and in other forums and help sites, but nothing.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSnow leopard terminal preferences seems to only change the first terminal window opened. For example I have new windows set to open with 'pro' theme, only the first window does this. If I hit cmd-n for a new window, it's the basic theme with the default size. If anyone knows the commands i can throw in .bash_profile to change the bg color and size of window, please let me know, I guess that's the workaround.

But when I start up my computer, instead of opening up a window, it starts up safari in the dock, but never actually opens a window. When I click on the icon in the dock the page will open up. Its acting as if I hid(CMD+H) the page. I know safari is open and it loaded the homepage, but the window wont actually open.
I've tried it on two different computers, Macbook pro, mac pro with same issue on both.

Not by trying to open a new window or going into my history and opening the Apple page. This is really frustrating since I hate Firefox (Way slower than safari has ever been for me) and now I can't even use Safari.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI started having an issue with Safari this afternoon with the Downloads windows not showing the files that are downloading. The Downloads window will show the number of files downloading at the bottom of the screen, but the window is completely empty of files. The files do download, but I would like to be able to see the status of the downloads.
Any ideas on how to get the downloads to display again? I have tried resetting Safari and rebooting, but no luck so far.
