I was wondering how do I set my finder window to open up in the same place on my screen and the same size every time? I have gone through all the settings, but every time I close finder and open it up again, it is back to the same default that I want to change?

When I expland the box, finish doing my business and close it and then reopen a new finder window (after restarting my computer for example the window goes back to the original size). Other windows like safari, mail etc...they all remember the size i left them as but I Finder can't seem to do it Is there a way to fix this problem?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been searching Google for a solution to this - I like all my Finder windows to be the same size, no matter what folder it is. Keeps everything looking universal. Nothing annoys me more than having to keep resizing bloody windows, because the default size has horizontal and vertical scroll bars! I like my Finder window to accommodate 5 folders horizontally.
I've been looking into Terminal commands to see if there is anything in there that would allow me to change the default dimensions, but found nothing.
Anyone know how to set Finder Window to default size ? I tried looking and cannot find anything about it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedNormally, the Finder window will display a folder's size in the Size column. However, I have one folder which shows as "Zero KB" in the Size column. When I open the General Info window, the Size reads as "Zero KB on disk (Zero bytes) for 0 items."
In order to get the folder size I have to go into the folder, select all folders, then with either the Summary Info or Inspector window, it'll show the folder size ("185.32 GB on disk").
Why is this occurring in only this folder? Is it because it's a large folder?
I'm running Snow Lep 10.6.2. The folder is on an external drive in FAT32 format.

I want to reset every view options on every finder window to their default. Then make every window have 128 x 128 icons minimal grid spacing and size 10 text. Is there any quick way to do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe default 'document' column is way too wide and forces you eye to track all the way across the screen to read info like "date modified', 'kind' or 'size'.  Tried several times to create a narrower default 'document name' column with no results. Couldn't find anything in preferences or view options. Tried dragging column headers while holding the down the option key with no results.  Every time I open a new finder window, all columns except the 'document' column affixed to the right side of the window. Also, when you grab the bottom right corner of a window to resize smaller, the lists become re-affixed to the right side of the window when opening the window back up.  Experiencing the same problem in Mavericks 10.9.3 on an iMac and Macbook Pro Retina.

How can I change its size back to original? The window is not resizable by dragging its border or clicking the green plus button in the title bar. Â
I don't know how the window got this size in the first place. All I know is that it happened during a crash where I closed a lot of other windows and where I accidentially clicked the green plus button of the force quit window instead of the red x.

I purchased Xslimmer recently,and I've just notice a big issue. In Xslimmer, it says the current size of the app is say 20 mb, but Finder says it is 50 mb. Same thing after I slim it. I checked on a different computer, and it said the same thing. Could someone check the filesize of Mail.app in Finder (mine was 77.4 mb), and the current size in XSlimmer (said it was 25.5mb).

I changed my partition size firstly from (full disk size) about 160GB to 80GBs in order to create a new one which was another 80GBs after that I decided to just leave this 160GB and one partition, so I did what I decided, but now there is a problem. I did everything under Installation CD and than it shows in Disk Tool that the partition is 160GB on diagrams but under it it shows: total size 80GB... and the same is when I launching Snow Leopard. I'm clicking Macintosh HD and informations than it shows total size: 80GB, I tried to change again partition sizes but it does nothing, I cannot do anything under Mac OS and bootable installation disc. I'm completely stuck it shows, always and always that "Spliting in to partitions finished due an error - could not modficate partition's map".
View 1 Replies View RelatedSometimes I simply cannot open a new finder window. If I use Command-N or if I choose New Finder Window in the Finder menu, nothing happens. If I am using Command-N, I can see the File heading in the Finder menu bar highlighting, and then after a few seconds the highlight goes, but no window opens. Also, clicking on my Downloads icon in the dock, the dialog opens showing all the files, but if I then click on Open in Finder, the dialog closes but nothing happens. Now that I am writing this message, it all works again! That's what I mean by 'sometimes'. This issue can last for tens of minutes. Secndly, and this is still a problem, my finder Preferences do not stick. So for instance, I don't want to see an icon for my hard disk on the desktop, so I untick this in Finder preferences. The icon disappears. If I now re-start, then it comes back. The same happens for removing the empty trash warning and all of the other Finder Preference tick boxes.Â
Now, when the first problem of not being able to open a finder window suddenly stopped being a problem, the icon for the hard disk suddenly appeared on my desktop. So the two issues are linked. This has been going on intermittently for a few days. I have verified my disk, and repaired permissions.

Does anyone know how to set the default screen size for iTunes? I migrated from an iMac and everytime I open iTunes, the screen is too big for my MacBook Pro. I have to use the zoom function to get it to fit the screen. Where are these settings stored? I have removed all the .plist files that I could find and the issue persists.

Any way to increase this? With my screen at full resolution the print is very small and gives me headaches very quickly, so I have to set it to 1920x1080. I switched to Imac for processing photographs, so the advantage of a good quality screen is somewhat wasted. Also, at the lower resolution, the print is not so sharp.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi like to have my movies, pictures, downloads and documents folders always open in cover flow with the cover flow window at a certain size. whenever i go back to the finder after a login or reboot the cover flow window size always goes back to the default which is tiny. this is even after ive tried to keep it at a particular size and selected always open in cover flow in view options. i was hoping 10.5.1 would fix this. does this happen to anyone else? does anyone know how to keep cover flow windows at a certain size? heres a few pics to explain what i mean.
