I am a new mac user. I am trying to figure out how to enlarge the screen image so it fills the entire screen.I am aware that I can hold control and scroll with the mouse but that moves the toolbar out of view.I also have found a way(unintentionally) that it minimizes to the lower left side of the screen and when I enlarge it it stays on the left side of the screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a rather silly query. With most windows, they open in the last position and size that they were closed. This general behaviour appears to hold true for most applications, whether system preferences, native applications, or third party applications. However, I have noted - to my great frustration - that TextEdit does not conform to this behaviour. Instead, it chooses to open in a specific place and size each time, regardless of what I do. Anything I can do to fix this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt looks like some icons names cannot be changed in OS X Lion via the Resources technique? I used to use the tips from this thread in Leopard and Snow Leopard but now the game seems to be up:
[url]..
I would, normally, replace the app with a copy of itself to overwrite the name but Lion won't let me delete the original because the OS needs it and like I said, the Resource lproj trick doesn't seem to work.
Is there a way to change the name of the Trash or TextEdit app?

I need to change the default TextEdit behavior; white text on black background. Looked around and I can't seem to find a solution. White on black is much easier on the eyes.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI changed my partition size firstly from (full disk size) about 160GB to 80GBs in order to create a new one which was another 80GBs after that I decided to just leave this 160GB and one partition, so I did what I decided, but now there is a problem. I did everything under Installation CD and than it shows in Disk Tool that the partition is 160GB on diagrams but under it it shows: total size 80GB... and the same is when I launching Snow Leopard. I'm clicking Macintosh HD and informations than it shows total size: 80GB, I tried to change again partition sizes but it does nothing, I cannot do anything under Mac OS and bootable installation disc. I'm completely stuck it shows, always and always that "Spliting in to partitions finished due an error - could not modficate partition's map".

I'm going to use a fast 300GB WD VelociRaptor HD in an e-SATA enclosure connected to my MBP via a Merax e-SATA Xpress XpressCard/34 for moving large audio file drum software during live play. I know FAT32 wont work because of it's 4gig file limitation and stability issues (file corruption). I could use the more modern and stable NTFS but that would require using something like NTFS-3G or Paragon to allow OSX to recognize it but I'm worried about slower performance going that route. Would using the OSX native HFS+ format give me the performance and large file size usage I need?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'd like to change some MIME-type associations, i.e. which program opens which file type. So far I have only found out how to change this setting for a single file (e.g. opening a wmv file with VLC instead of Quicktime via "Open with" ) but I've yet to find the place where I can change this setting globally.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just recently bought my first MBP and I have been busy transferring all my files from my Vaio to my MBP. I convert all my dvds to digital format and keep them on an external HDD (LaCie 1TB HDD) and was adding them to my iTunes on my MBP. I came across a problem trying to change the media kind for some of the videos.
I have several shows on my HDD (anime, Dexter, Walking Dead, etc.) but when I go to change the media kind to TV Show, it doesn't let me. The info on the folder says my MBP has "Read only" permission. How can I change this so I can read and write the files for my MBP? This is about the only snag I've come across trying to set up my MBP similar to my Vaio.

After applying an image to be an application's icon, the image does not appear but instead the image of Preview appears with the image's type (for example jpeg) on it. I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong, other than possibly using the wrong image type. Is there a proper image type to use (I've tried pretty much every type but none of them seem to work), or do you have to change icons from somewhere other than 'get info'?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have recently changed all my movie files on my Snow Leopard system to be launchable by QuickTime Player 7 instead of QuickTime Player X [see note below]. For various historical reasons, these movie files have a variety of icons associated with them. I'd like to run some sort of utility which does a mass change of the icons of all my movies to the same, one, single icon ... and I'd like to do this in one fell swoop, instead of having to go through an icon change procedure movie by movie by movie by movie by movie by movie by movie by movie ...
After changing all my movies to be launchable by QT 7, I have restarted Finder and restarted my machine, but the old icons remain on all of the movies.
Is there any way that I can perform this mass icon change under Snow Leopard, or am I out of luck?
Whenever I attempt to change the default program to open a file, it automatically reverts to whatever was selected previously. I work with a lot of .ai files and my default Illustrator version is set to Creative Cloud. CC crashes constantly on my machine, however CS6 runs smooth as silk. I'd like to be able to double click an .ai file and have it open in CS6, not CC. When I right click > Get Info > Open with and change it, it reverts as soon as I click "Change all..."
