I use a third party app., MacStock Manager. I have to resize the window every time it is opened and wonder if I'm stuck with this situation? This is the only time a window is not the same size as when it was closed. Using a new iMac with Snow Leopard.
View 1 RepliesWhen I opened safari my homepage was apple and it opened using the middle of the display with the desktop screensaver visable on both sides of the page now it opens adn takes up the whole screen I don't know how to resize it and save it where it will open to the same all the time. I'm a very new owner of an IMAC and to apple so I'm completely in the dark to mac systems and just stumbling around. I'm a 70 year old guy that's ben drug into the 21 century and trying to keep up (not very good )

How can I change the default window size of the Finder window? When I expland the box, finish doing my business and close it and then reopen a new finder window (after restarting my computer for example the window goes back to the original size). Other windows like safari, mail etc...they all remember the size i left them as but I Finder can't seem to do it Is there a way to fix this problem?

How can I change its size back to original? The window is not resizable by dragging its border or clicking the green plus button in the title bar. Â
I don't know how the window got this size in the first place. All I know is that it happened during a crash where I closed a lot of other windows and where I accidentially clicked the green plus button of the force quit window instead of the red x.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy 2 1/2 yr. old granddaughter has once again gotten a hold of my keyboard. I have managed to resize the browser window. Trouble is all of the text is so large that in an open window I have to scroll side to side to view the whole page. The text is also slightly blurry.

I'm a mac newbie and I installed Office for Mac '08 today. I don't see an option to have Office remember the window size and position. So every time I open Word, Powerpoint, etc they open so that they take up 60% of the screen. How can I have the programs remember the size and position of the window?

Since I have been using Safari, it's windows open to the maximum size of the screen. Recently it has begun to open in at a small size. Is there anyway to save how large the window is when the program is launched, or a new window is opened?

Is there any way to do this? I've never really seen a use for Safari's green button as it doesn't really do anything that I can see.
View 5 Replies View RelatedNormally, the Finder window will display a folder's size in the Size column. However, I have one folder which shows as "Zero KB" in the Size column. When I open the General Info window, the Size reads as "Zero KB on disk (Zero bytes) for 0 items."
In order to get the folder size I have to go into the folder, select all folders, then with either the Summary Info or Inspector window, it'll show the folder size ("185.32 GB on disk").
Why is this occurring in only this folder? Is it because it's a large folder?
I'm running Snow Lep 10.6.2. The folder is on an external drive in FAT32 format.
I am pasting a screenshot on each slide and I wan them to fill the entire slide but their size is 70% the hight of a normal slide. I do not want to stretch them vertically because proportions will be a mess. I want to project slides in the size of the screenshots. Is this possible? can I change the size of the slides to accommodate the size of the screenshot?

This hint requires that you have apple developer tools installed in order to use plist editor. I have a root account enabled on my system which i was logged into to use this hint, i'm sure some of the more terminal thrifty users can chime in on how to do this through the terminal.
In the finder navigate to applications folder and right click on itunes and select Show Package Contents. Once Contents is open the path is Contents/Resources/English.lproj/TextStyles.plist. Right click on TextStyles.plist and open with Property List Editor.app. in Property List Editor.app locate 9003 and click the arrow next to it.
You will see 3 lines of settings on the FONT row i changed the font to LucidaGrange-Bold. on the SIZE line i changed 13 to 18. then save the file
I now have iTunes with a bold and larger font just the way i like it. Im a musician and use itunes to make my bands set lists I just take a screen capture of the list and print in preview.
I have had chronic "buggy" issues with my mac. Here are some examples:
- When I open a new window (i.e. double click on a Word or pdf document from the finder) it will open behind other windows.
- When I click on a window that I want to work on, it won't come to the front, I have to click on other windows in front of it then click on the window I want to finally get it to the front.
- In Finder if, for example, I click on a file to re-name it, the renaming box appears elsewhere on the screen - not in the spot that I clicked. Also, if I am moving a file from one folder to another, the folder I want to move it to often won't highlight when I am hovering on top of it, but when I am elsewhere on the screen (it's as if what is showing on the screen is not aligned with where the mac thinks things are located on the screen).
So sometimes when I change Icons they work and other items they don't it just shows up with this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to empty files in trash, and everytime I do, it brings up a new finder window and says that it's preparing to move to trash, but it's already in trash. When I try to take it out of trash it says that it's copying the file to my desktop.

Every time I open a new folder, instead of showing the content of that new folder within the same window, another one is opened.I even went to the preferences and the option "Always open folders in new windows" was not selected.Relaunching finder didn't help either, and so did restarting my laptop.Also, the bar that reguarly appears at the bottom of the finder window containing information about disk space and number of files is at the top of the finder window.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI changed my partition size firstly from (full disk size) about 160GB to 80GBs in order to create a new one which was another 80GBs after that I decided to just leave this 160GB and one partition, so I did what I decided, but now there is a problem. I did everything under Installation CD and than it shows in Disk Tool that the partition is 160GB on diagrams but under it it shows: total size 80GB... and the same is when I launching Snow Leopard. I'm clicking Macintosh HD and informations than it shows total size: 80GB, I tried to change again partition sizes but it does nothing, I cannot do anything under Mac OS and bootable installation disc. I'm completely stuck it shows, always and always that "Spliting in to partitions finished due an error - could not modficate partition's map".

I noticed 1 of the 2 wires wasn't connected to the wi-fi card. Wireless runs perfectly, and everything else seems to work regardless.
It was the wire on the left that wasn't connected.
Also, I love how the A1181 I bought when Apple first announced the WhiteBook still runs fast and smooth and is so easily self-serviced. Can't say that about any PC laptop.
i like to have my movies, pictures, downloads and documents folders always open in cover flow with the cover flow window at a certain size. whenever i go back to the finder after a login or reboot the cover flow window size always goes back to the default which is tiny. this is even after ive tried to keep it at a particular size and selected always open in cover flow in view options. i was hoping 10.5.1 would fix this. does this happen to anyone else? does anyone know how to keep cover flow windows at a certain size? heres a few pics to explain what i mean.

I've been searching Google for a solution to this - I like all my Finder windows to be the same size, no matter what folder it is. Keeps everything looking universal. Nothing annoys me more than having to keep resizing bloody windows, because the default size has horizontal and vertical scroll bars! I like my Finder window to accommodate 5 folders horizontally.
I've been looking into Terminal commands to see if there is anything in there that would allow me to change the default dimensions, but found nothing.
I have a 17" MBP. (2009) How do I set the default size of all the windows? Every time I open a program a rather small window with minuscule fonts opens, so I would like to set some kind default to make it easier on my old eyes.
