Nov 10, 2009much research and trying everything I could, I've given up. I know I'm not the only one, and want to bring awareness out there.Clear will tell you that their driver for the usb dongle will in fact work with 10.6, however, I haven't been able to get it to work with 10.6.1 or 10.6.2. Why didn't I try with 10.6? Because 10.6.1 was already out when they finally upgraded their drivers to support Snow Leopard. Sigh.At any rate, I've had four different Clear technical support supervisors swear to me their driver works with Snow Leopard, and 10.6.1 and 10.6.2, however it doesn't. I'm trying to get the word out so no one here is fooled into buying something that just doesn't work.

Jun 16, 2012last Friday I ordered my first Mac on eBay. The eBay description told me that there is no OS included. So I went to my local autorised Apple Reseller.When I asked for OS X Lion for my new Mac he sold me a USB-Stick. But not one of Apple's Sticks. It's a normal Transcend Stick. The package was already opened and closed again with scotch tape. He told me that I've only need to plug it in and Lion starts installing. The price by the way was the same as Apple wants for their USB-Stick in the Online-Store.But even if it's true that there is Lion on that Stick - what's with my license ? Do I own a real, valid copy of Lion ?

Mar 25, 2012I purchase Lion from the App store & set up Lion on my Macbook, on a partition on my Exterior Hard Drive. Also wanted to install Lion on my early 2009 Macmini. I want to install it, on a partition on the Macmini. A clean install of 10.6.8. is on that partition.
Instead of downloading it again, I put the "InstallESD.dmg" on a 16 gig USB stick. I boot into the Mac OSX USB Stick Install, then near the end of the installation, a error message said ''Cant Download the Additional Components Needed to Install Mac OSX''

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Using USB Stick To Reinstall Software
Jul 3, 2012I recently upgraded my OS on my Mac Pro to Lion 10.7, and have now decided that I want to sell the machine. Therefore I want to reinstall the Lion OS, to wipe it and remove old apps. I created my own USB stick which has the Lion OS on it, and hoped I could use this. However, when I booted from the USB stick, used disk Utility to create a clean Hard drive, I discovered that the OS needs to verify with Apple that it is the correct version.Â
Is this right? Does that mean if I was away from the internet I could not reinstall the software? If I was, I could not reinstall the software. How do I do this if I am working away from home, and not able to use a business wifi? The other issue: is that the next step is "Downloading additional componenets. Your computer will restart automatically" My Mac Pro stated it needed 108 hours to do this, then 7 hours, Now I have a cable modem with 10Mbps download, so I don't have a slow network.  So my thoughts are this: Do I need to internet to reinstall software, and if not, how do I do this? Why is it downloading more components? Why so slow? How many reinstalls are we allowed with Lion? If I have to buy more licenses from Apple, how do I do that? Create new ids?

Feb 13, 2012I seem to have a problem that happens frequently. If I click and drag a file when I unclick (drop the file) the mouse/cursor won't let go of the file. The file kind of sticks to the arrow. I have to either rapid fire click, hold down esc and click, right click, to let go of the file.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Installation From Thumb Stick Fails
Mar 13, 2012I've got this older iMac but it has 2 GB and few weeks ago I managed to install Lion on a second partition of the internal HD. Sometimes the computer would hang or cause problems and I decided to install the whole system from scratch. After several failed attemps I finally figured, that the internal HD had a defect. So I decided to use an external usb drive to fix that problem for the beginning and before I think about changing the internal hard drive. I created 3 partitions with a GUID-table on the external usb drive and managed to install Leopard on the first partition and so far it's working fine and I boot from that external usb drive.Â
Now I wanted to install Lion on that computer. So I took that Lion thumb stick I purchased from apple and pressed the option key during boot in order to select booting from the thumb stick. It worked for the beginning and a message like "Installation" appeared. After a while the installation would stop with a message like "an error occured during installation, please try again". I did this two times but it never finished the installation.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Excel Doesn't Stick To Mission Control Assigned Desktop
Feb 21, 2012I've assigned Excel 2011 to a specific desktop in Mission Control. Upon launch, it opens in the assigned desktop, but if I'm on another desktop at the time I launch it, the blank spreadsheet opens on that desktop and not the one assigned to Excel. I know it launches on the assigned desktop because it switches to that desktop momentarily, but then switches back to my current desktop to open the blank spreadsheet.Â
If I open an excel spreadsheet while on the Excel desktop, it opens there and stays there, but if I click on the Excel icon in the dock to open a new spreadsheet while on another desktop, the spreadsheet opens on that desktop and not on the desktop assigned to Excel.Â
Most of the apps I've assigned to desktops in Mission Control work fine, but Excel and Word don't follow the rules.

Mar 30, 2012I have created an account for my wife under Lion and I cannot get her user preferences for scroll bars to work. I set them to show always but the next time she logs in they revert to the previous setting---based on input. I can watch it happen with the preferences folder open and set to show a list sorted according to modified date. As soon as I close the system preferences, it reverts.Â
Her account is an admin account so it should work, don't you think. My personal account works fine and I tried moving the prefernces file to her library/preferences folder. No good.Â

May 10, 2012I cannot connect to my MBP (2007 model) running 10.7 (10.7.4 at the moment, but I had this problem since upgrading to 10.7) using the AppleFileProtocol.I shows up on the network, it let's click on it, asks for my login and after hitting »connect«, it gives a error stating »The server XXX will not allow any additional users to log on. Try to connect again later.«. Connecting through SMB works fine. SSH also works fine. Everything else on this machine is fine, too.What's wrong with AFP.

OS X :: USB Stick Size Not What It Seems?
Feb 15, 2009I have a few USB sticks of 2GB size each, and I am trying to copy some image files onto them. I can copy a few images, and then the systems says that the USB stick is full!!! I know that's not the case though because when I go to the "File info" of the files already copied on USB, they are all together much smaller than the USB stick size.
Does anybody knows what is going on?
PS. I am using Mac OS X 10.5.6, on a new Macbook Pro. I have already updated the system software and iTunes (someone said it might cause problems).

Feb 8, 2012Updated with the latest patch yesterday. When I start the App Store app I have no apps showing and just receive the message "Cannot Connect to the App Store". I'm using an ethernet connection rather than wifi and have access to the internet (obviously). I eventually managed to sign out of my itunes account to see if logging back in would help, but when I click sign in nothing happens.Â

Jan 3, 2011I have been doing some research on the MacBook Air's Flash Storage and according to the repair and servicing manual for the MacBook Air (see attached files) there is an actual Memory Sick that is in the MacBook Air and is not soldered to the Main Logic Board. This part of the service manual tells you how to remove the memory stick and replace it. Everyone clams it is "non-user replaceable" but this guide suggests that is it possible, if one was able to purchase one of the Memory Sicks.
