I am trying to install Mac OS X on my PC which is running Windows XP. I have tried both VMWare Workstation and Sun xVM VirtualBox and neither one can recognize the DVD in the drive.
If I use windows explorer to look at the DVD, it shows me the "Windows Support" partition of the DVD.
I upgraded my Mac Mini to Lion. When I go to the sound output, I still have two options:Â
* Headphones (Headphone port)
* marantz-AVR (HDMI)Â
When I select the Marantz, it highlights in blue momentarily and then slides back to Headphones. It does not stay on the Marantz. I've restarted both units, unplugged cables, and the same. What do I do now? And, yes, everything worked perfectly just before my Lion upgrade.

I tried to sent to email and failed too witht the same error. I have also try to repair via first aid and all are fine. Also tried to unlock my keychain but nope still can't.

I know this isn't the right terminology, but hopefully my point will come across. I have a Mac Mini Server that came with Snow Leopard Server on it, and I would like to convert that to the non-server version of OS X and upgrade to Lion. I have not been able to find a procedure for this yet, and when trying to run the standard Lion installer on the machine, it pops up with the error message illustrated below. To summarize, I'd like to avoid the hassle of doing the OS reinstall and rebuild from Time Machine and instead do something equivalent to an upgrade from 10.6 Snow Leopard Server to plain-jane 10.7 Lion.

Ever since I downloaded iplayer - my mac has been running slow. I have followed a few tips to remove it and all other related files - but it still runs low (spinning wheel of death) and now pdf's dont download correctly (I guess I have deleted too much).Â
My ideal would be to start from scrach - although I want to keep my itunes and iphotos files as well as my documents. Is there a way to reload back to factory settings then add selected programs and folders from timemachine? I am in the process of timemachine backing up everything now.Â

I've downloaded Maverick 10.9.4 to upgrade from Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Download is OK, but when asked which drive I wanted to install the upgrade on, and I choose the internal Mac HD, it tells me I can't use that drive for startup, and won't let me continue. Why not? Been doing it for years with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on MackBook Pro 17". What now?

I don't think its mac mini-specific but that happens to be the machine I'm using: Some files downloaded from the internet won't install, even after I click to allow permission on the warning screen.

I was trying to load the software and a message said "only load on a intel processer system". The mac mini I have does have a intel processer, so why will it not load, is there a way around it?

Yesterday I updates Lion to 10.7.4.Â
Today I went to run WinXP under VMWare Fusion 3 and got the following errors: "Unable to retrieve kernel zone size" "Failed to initialize monitor device." "Cannot find a valid peer process to connect to" It won't start. 1. Can I roll back 10.7.4 to 10.7.3? 3. Can I re-install 10.7.0 on an external disk or partition and run from that? Then I could recover some files from WinXP. (Last backup of WinXP is a couple weeks old). Other?
So this has just happened recently, when I open Chrome instead of Chrome actually opening up it opens up VMware. It was working fine up until a couple days ago.

I use Fusion 4 on my Mac and now need to extend a disk from 200GB to 300GB; VMWare tells me there's not enough space on disk, although it has ~400GB of unused space. Since defragging is not a Mac thing, is there anything else I need/can do to convince Fusion to extend my drive? I know this is a Mac forum but since it's on a Mac *and* VMWare's forum didn't give my anything in almost 2 days...Â

I have the Win 7 RTM currently installed on my Mac Pro, on a dedicated internal hard drive. I'm running VMware 2.0. I have the retail version of Win 7 arriving today. Anyone know if I can just install through Windows, i.e., while running my existing Win 7 installation via VMware, or do I have to go through the whole clean install via Bootcamp routine?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'll like to install Mac OS 10.4.6 in VMWare Fusion for stuff that I need to use 10.4 in. How might I do that? I've noticed they support 10.5 and 10.6 server but why not client? and why not 10.4 intel?
I have the install disks with me, if I need to make an iso or cdr of it, I know how.
I am looking to download and install VMware, however it will probably be not original as I'll download it off the internet. So my question is, will my protection plan be affected? I mean if I give my laptop for repair then is it possible they won't repair it or something. Cause if that's the case I might as well just buy VMware.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm a new MAC user and I am getting swamped with info. My question is, what is the best way to install Bootcamp? Should I install MAC OSX Snow Leopard first? Or should I install Bootcamp then Windows first? Then MAC OS X? I'm really new to this and I've tried reading the sticky but there's no "Best way to install BootCamp" even if I google it.

Own a late 2011 macbook pro. want to install Lion on new SSD. Also have Lion thumb drive pruchaced from Apple and stuff to mount an external drive. Figure to just install new SSD drive and keep working old one as a backup (not a time machine backup) and use Lion thumb drive and do a cleaninstall. Also have latest iLife on dvd. ? Will this put me back in the same shape as I was before I switched drives?
Lion 10.7.4 is installed on origional 500 gb internal drive.

I've tried to use boot camp to install win xp after I removed it from Vmware, but there was a warning in boot camp when I tried to make a 20G partition for xp, it recommended me to rebuild a partition(means restore the OS), and that is the hell thing I would never try because I just restored it days ago! It reminds me of iDefrag, I decide to try it on my HD to see if it can help or not. I need CDmaker to create a bootable cd so I can run iDefrag without mounting HD, but there is a problem when I create it: Coriolis CDmaker failed to create a template from that installation media, try again or use an alternative source.
I've tried:
1) Mount Mac OS X Install disk 1 DVD; ----- Failed!!
2) Using Disk Utility in the Utilities folder to create a new image of the Mac OS X Install DVD. Change the Image format option from "compressed" to "read/write" [URL] Failed!
My last option is using time machine to backup OS and move it to a new portable disk.
I'm running VMware Fusion 2.0.5 and am trying to install VMware Tools in Ubuntu 9.04. I have found several sets of instructions, but they all seem out dated and I can't get any to work.

I have already checked the box VirtualMachine->Settings->Display->Accelerate 3D graphics. So this shouldn't be the problem.
I also tried downloading a driver from nvidias web site, but I could not install it.

Updating lion and the blue installation bar has moved to abou1cm from the right and has reached the "Âoving items into place..." location. The blue color is still flowing like it is installing, but the bar has moved for over an hour. I'm afraid to shut the machine off.

I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations for a computer desk/workstation. I'm willing to spend some $$ on something, and am just wondering if there are any pieces out there that you guys really like. I use a Mac Pro, which I like to keep on the desk. Besides that, I don't have that much hardware -- MFC printer that's pretty big, but that will probably be replaced by something that has a smaller footprint. I'll be putting it in my basement, so size isn't really a huge concern.
View 6 Replies View Related[URL:..] As you can see, that is probably the most boring workstation ever! I went for nice and clean but wound up with something so sterile, something you'd find in a clean room. Note: the macbook looks very dirty in this picture but it is pristine (I blame the tungsten lighting and iphone camera on this front) I plan on getting a 20-24 inch Dell display along with a kb/m so that may help, but what else do you think I can do while still keeping the clean look?
