Anyone else having this issue while trying to open or install an existing Virtual Machine in Snow Leopard using VMWare Fusion?

Now my VMware Fusion virtual machine for Windows XP is missing in action. Where can I find this on my Time Machine backup so that I can see if I can restore it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem where whenever I click on a link in say iChat, or Skype or even when im trying to set up Flickr on iPhoto, the webpage link opens up VMware fusion, starts up the OS and opens Internet explorer. I have tried the settings and disabling the sharing folder, but it doesnt work, VMware still opens up. Has anyone else had this problem?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just installed Windows XP with VMWare Fusion (2.0.6) and every time I shut down VMWare and check the size of the virtual machine back in Finder in OS X (Snow Leopard) it has grown by 2GB or so. Why is it doing this and how can I stop it? (It's now 8GB+ even though there is no software installed on the Windows side). I am running these on a late 2007 iMac.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf i right click a file and go to open with it list's windows apps and if i open with that windows app VMware Fusion starts and my emulated XP opens up.
I don't want this how do i remove it? I only want OS X apps showing in finder not windows apps.
Email links in Safari also opens up VMware Fusion and then outlook!

I have Windows 7 running on a separate disk on my Mac Pro.
A Bootcamp drive and System Reserved drive mount in OSX.
Fusion fails to preprocess the bootcamp partion... and it fails to start.
Any suggestions on how to get this working?
Does anyone know how to get Snow Leopard to work in VMware Fusion? When I go to make a new Virtual Machine I can't select the .dmg. I even tried to convert the .dmg to .img but that didnt make any difference.

I have Parallels 4, which I had on Leopard as well, with windows XP. Pn leopard it ran beautifully, however since upgrading I find its unbearably slow, and causes my whole system to slow down. I dont know if this is with parallels or with my system in general, as I have had a bit of trouble with Snow Leopard, though I believe I have sorted that out.
How have people found VMware to run in comparison to parallels? Is it worth switching?
I recently installed VMware fusion on my MBP, but I later noticed it to be slower.
I dedicated about 2GB of RAM to the Virtual Machine. The Windows 7 OS runs fine, but it's the Snow Leopard that became sluggish.
Do I need to change any settings on the Virtual Machine to make my SL run faster?

I am using NAT mode on the VMWare Fusion running Windows XP and am not able to get out to the Internet using IE or Firefox. I am able to get out to the Internet just fine from the host OS (Leopard) via Firefox. I can see on the task bar (lower right corner) the network connection lights going but only one of the computer icons light up as if there is a transmit but no receive. Usually if there is transmit and receive I'll see both computer icons lighting up.I've tried doing a ipconfig /release and /renew but to no avail.
From a dos prompt I've tried pinging "yahoo.com" but with no success. The strange thing is that when I used this VMWare image last a few weeks back it was fine. Not sure what's changed.
iTunes froze up yesterday while I was running vmware fusion (on my bootcamp partition) and now when I try to start vmware I get the following error:

I have a few relatively light-weight Windows-only programs that I need to start using on my Macbook Pro. I'm deciding whether to install them on Bootcamp or use VM Ware Fusion.A couple questions please1) To use Windows with Bootcamp, do I need to install Windows XP on Bootcamp?2) What is your opinion? Go with Bootcamp, or install a virtual machine? I am aware that Bootcamp requires a restart to return to my Mac - and that programs will work faster on Bootcamp over a virtual machine.3) But what if I installed BOTH (Bootcamp and a virtual machine using VM Ware Fusion) just until I figure out what I prefer? I have a DVD for my physics class that only can be opened in Windows for whatever reason (I also have a game I want to use). OS X recognizes it, but when I boot into Windows 7 (RTM Build 7600) in VMware Fusion, I see no sign of it.

How in the world do I do this? Some online guides say to set it as Windows Server 2008 x64, others say Windows Vista 64.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust did a fresh install of Windows 7 RC onto my Boot Camp partition. Using VMWare's Fusion (v2.0.4) to load Windows 7 up on my Mac. However, it blue screens as soon as the Windows 7 logo appears during boot.
I have it set up to emulate "Windows 2008 Server x64" as detailed in VMWare's post to get Windows 7 working.
What's going on..? Any ideas how I can sort this out?
I've accessed my Windows 7 partition but would now like to branch back into Linux territory. View 4 Replies View Relatedi tried to install bootcamp while i still had vm ware fusion but i got that error saying backup the disk, format the drive into mac osx journaled and restore info back to that disc. So i uninstalled vm ware fusion and got the same error again but when installed vm ware fusion again the windows account was still there with all the files on it.
If i completely remove the windows account from vmware fusion and then intall bootcamp will it work if so how do i remove it.
I installed Windows 7 through VMWare Fusion's easy setup. Can I use this existing Windows installation to make a BootCamp partition? I know Windows can be used vice versa (BootCamp first, then VMWare), but I already installed Windows 7 with VMware first.
