When I open Quicken Essentials for Mac, sometimes my computer screen blacks out and I must shut down manually. HAs anyone else experienced this? And, could this be why my previous hard drive went bad?Â

After the disaster getting Quicken for Mac 2007 (or earlier) to sort-of work on Lion, has anyone checked if the Lion Compatible Quicken for Mac works on the new Mountain Lion operating system? Even though this isn't an Apple problem, I know I'm not the only person who would love to update to a new Mac; however, they all come with Mountain Lion, and many of us are terrified of losing financial data if there's another

Just updated to Lion and learned that I cannot use my quicken program!

Just upgraded to OSx Lion 10.7 and find that Quicken 2007 won't open as Lion does not support it. Quicken advises that it does not yet have Quicken for Lion but is working on it. Meantime I am stuck as I use Quicken all the time. I am wondering if it is possible to uninstall Lion using the Snow Leopard install CD. At present, Lion is a disaster and I'd like to get rid of it and go back to Snow Leopard. Apple really screwed up with this one.

My old 120GB hard drive seemed to be flaky, and I needed the increased capacity, so I upgraded to a 500GB hard drive on my white MacBook. Install was not hard at all, I formatted and partitioned the drive, but I can't seem to install MacOS X (10.5) on it from the DVD's that came with my MacBook. It will boot to the installer DVD, allow me to select the hard drive, and starts the install. However, each time it ends with something along the lines of "Error verifying Essentials package", and advises me to contact the software manufacturer. (Strange that it advises contacting the "software manufacturer" rather than "Apple."). The DVD is pristine, no evidence scratches. I also had problems earlier performing an Archive & Install on the old drive, but I thought this was because it ran out of room. I can also boot the MacBook through my old drive, attached to a USB enclosure. Can that drive be used to install a new system?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a new Samsung HM640JI hard drive to replace my old 250gb fujitsu hd. The problem is, if I put the new samsung hdd inside and try to do a clean install of snow leopard, the setup always hangs at "extracting essentials" and I have to keep the shutdown button pressed to close my laptop. I thought I have a ram problem or that my dvd is busted but that's not the case because I inserted the samsung hdd in an enclosure, connected it via usb and the install went just fine. After the setup was over I rebooted a couple of times (still in usb enclosure) and everything was fine but after I inserted it in my mac everything went to hell: excruciating slow boot and runtime. I repeated the process twice to be sure. My mac is a 15" 2.53 core2duo 9400m

Alright, so far I have tried an Upgrade and an A&I and it still fails with that message. I don't know what to do. I have an unusable computer, and the install keeps failing.

I've been using this external hard drive since Christmas Day and suddenly it doesn't work. I attempted to verify my disk and it came back with "Invalid Node Structure". I've been using this for Time Machine Backups but I don't mind losing them because there isn't really anything majot but I'm currently copying my two largest folders off there because it tells me I need to format my disk as soon as possible. How do I do that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe setup: VirtualBox (latest), Snow Leopard and Windows XP.
The situation: I installed VirtualBox, all seems fine. I then installed Windows XP. All seemed fine. I installed Gust Additions. Then I installed Safari. Then I went and downloaded and installed Microsoft Security Essentials. When it attempted to install, it would fail, and asks me to restart and try again. I went ahead and restarted. When the virtual machine restarted, it'd get all screwed up, squashed video and frozen. Then I'd get a dialog saying that the virtual machine disk image has a problem or some such, and claims that a likely cause is a problem with the harddrive. After I clicked OK, it beachball'd. I force-quit the program.
I presently use quicken 5 for windows, am buying a mac computer and am wondering how to migrate my "old" pc version to a much newer mac version.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac 3.06 with 4G. The machine runs great and can't believe how nice it runs Windows 7 x64.The only reason I have Windows installed is for Quicken 2010. The odd behavior I'm experiencing is running the Quicken update to automatically download your Quicken portforlio, bank txns, and stocksOn Windows, this updates takes less than 1 minutes. However, on the Mac side is runs for several minutes. The weird thing is the progress meter for each one of the 3 update steps acts like it's get suspended. After 5 or 10 minutes I will close the update window even though it says it's not completed, reopen it and everything is where is last was, but indicates updates are complete.

We are a PC to Mac convert and still trying to understand some basics. We have an iMac 21.5 and expecting delivery of a external 1.5 TD drive. More than we'll even need, but dirt cheap. We also run Windows 7 64 bit through VMware Fusion. The only reason for that is the Windows version of Quicken is a better product the the Mac version.
We will back up pics, Videos, etc., on the iMac under MacOs with Time Machine. Can Time Machine also backup the quicken data files from the Windows 7 VM machine? I hoping we do not need to maintain separate backup drives to manage the different type of file formats between Windows and Mac. I hoping this can be managed through one place...Time Machine.

I have Quicken 2007 for Mac on my G4 and would like to move it to my new iMac currently running Lion. I downloaded the recently-released update that will allow Quicken to run on Lion, then downloaded the file to an external USB drive. I then uploaded it to my iMac, and Quicken opens, but does not have any of my account information. I then deleted the files from my iMac and downloaded another copy of Quicken 2007 from the Quicken website. I then downloaded the update to my iMac, but it would not open. So, it appears that I have to transfer it form my G4, but need to do it in a way that will also transfer my data.
I ordered a firewire cable and am planning to try to move it directly. In the meantime, does anybody have any tips? Just so you know, I really want to use Quicken.
I have 10.8.5 and use Quicken. I updated last week and lost 5 years of data. I have Time Machine but when I go to data from last month Quicken doesn't come up. How can I find it?

I tried using Quicken for keeping a very basic digital copy of my check register, but I found Quicken's tendency of throwing all sorts of advanced options that I didn't want to use at me kind of unnerving. So, can anyone reccomend a check register-only finance app?
