OS X V10.7 Lion :: Quicken 2007 Won't Open - Not Supported
Feb 13, 2012
Just upgraded to OSx Lion 10.7 and find that Quicken 2007 won't open as Lion does not support it. Quicken advises that it does not yet have Quicken for Lion but is working on it. Meantime I am stuck as I use Quicken all the time. I am wondering if it is possible to uninstall Lion using the Snow Leopard install CD. At present, Lion is a disaster and I'd like to get rid of it and go back to Snow Leopard. Apple really screwed up with this one.

I have Quicken 2007 for Mac on my G4 and would like to move it to my new iMac currently running Lion. I downloaded the recently-released update that will allow Quicken to run on Lion, then downloaded the file to an external USB drive. I then uploaded it to my iMac, and Quicken opens, but does not have any of my account information. I then deleted the files from my iMac and downloaded another copy of Quicken 2007 from the Quicken website. I then downloaded the update to my iMac, but it would not open. So, it appears that I have to transfer it form my G4, but need to do it in a way that will also transfer my data.
I ordered a firewire cable and am planning to try to move it directly. In the meantime, does anybody have any tips? Just so you know, I really want to use Quicken.

Just thought I'd let all you out there know I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my Mid-2007 MacBook Pro (2.4Ghz C2D[Santa Rosa]; 2 GB DDR2; 160 Gig HDD) - and I did it all for about 40 bucks. It was a bitch, but after two days of messin' around and countless Google searches later (gotta love the Touch), viola: full 64-bit Windows 7 on my "unsupported" Mac.
First thing I had to do was get rid of that old Tiger. Snow Leopard for 30 bucks is a great deal, and installing is easy. My original intention was to do a clean install, but I actually accidentally upgraded directly from Tiger to SL, which I didn't think was possible. I went with this at first, but ultimately opted toward the clean install for various reasons. Now, with the easy part behind me, it was time to install 7...

Upgraded my MacPro 2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon to Lion so that I can take advantage of icloud functions that apparently won't work with my present OS. I did a clean install of the Lion OS, and began to selectively reinstall application programs. I inserted the install disc for my Logic Studio Application, an application which was not cheap, and I am met with the above message when I try to install the software. (Actually, "you can't open the application LogicStudio.mpkg because powerpc applications are no longer supported")Under the system requirements, I find my machine within the guidelines. Also, this software worked fine on this mac machine when I was running the Leopard OS. What is "PC" about my Dual Intel processors?

After the disaster getting Quicken for Mac 2007 (or earlier) to sort-of work on Lion, has anyone checked if the Lion Compatible Quicken for Mac works on the new Mountain Lion operating system? Even though this isn't an Apple problem, I know I'm not the only person who would love to update to a new Mac; however, they all come with Mountain Lion, and many of us are terrified of losing financial data if there's another

I paid for and downloaded the Lion my version is 10.7.4?My MS word is no longer supported. I am freaking out because of my college papers. I apparently didn't read directions too much to see it would no longer support. I am willing to buy new Microsoft word so it's supported if I can do so. Any suggestions or tips would help. I went to App Store to purchase but I have no clue on what to buy. Nothing on my computer that is MS is supported. I just need to be able to email some documents to other people that is MS word and write my papers on ms word.

after being FORCED to upgrade my 2007 2.66 Dual Core Xeon to Lion in order to migrate my iPhone/MobileMe stuff to iCloud, my dual-screen desktop is now mired in this inane implementation of 'full-screen' mode in Lion. I won't even start with that... Even worse, the full-screen mode button in the upper right corner of windows is the area I (previously) used to select a different window when multiple browser windows are up. It's driving me crazy, and I wish there was some sort of 'Spaces' implementation that is similar to what we had. But looking forward to hoping that perhaps Mountain Lion will fix the ills of Lion, I now see that only the 2008 Mac Pro towers will be supported, even though they are nearly identical in architecture (I think). Even our 2007 iMac is supported!
So, after having been forced away from Leopard (which was working for me just fine, thank you), I now find myself being left out on the doorstep by Apple with my high-end Mac Pro, for no apparent reason. Is anyone else out there in this situation? Does anyone else out there know a hack out of this full screen mode fiasco? It seems to me that Apple's decision to leave behind the first generation Intel Mac Pro is arbitrary at best, one of those indirect pokes to try and get us to upgrade hardware. It would be one thing if the computer wasn't fully functional in this 'day and age', but it *is* fully functional.
