Everytime I try to convert old Quicken data files so I can use the new Quickens Essentials I get the message: "There was an error installing and launching the Quicken File Exchange Utility."Â So I can't launch Quicken Essentials until I can convert the old data.Â

We are a PC to Mac convert and still trying to understand some basics. We have an iMac 21.5 and expecting delivery of a external 1.5 TD drive. More than we'll even need, but dirt cheap. We also run Windows 7 64 bit through VMware Fusion. The only reason for that is the Windows version of Quicken is a better product the the Mac version.
We will back up pics, Videos, etc., on the iMac under MacOs with Time Machine. Can Time Machine also backup the quicken data files from the Windows 7 VM machine? I hoping we do not need to maintain separate backup drives to manage the different type of file formats between Windows and Mac. I hoping this can be managed through one place...Time Machine.
I have 10.8.5 and use Quicken. I updated last week and lost 5 years of data. I have Time Machine but when I go to data from last month Quicken doesn't come up. How can I find it?

There goes the illusion that nothing ever happens wrong with apple... especially my first one which I treated like a baby. So it was taken into a support center, they cloned my hard drive and ordered a new one... 22 days later I get my mac back and everything seems in order. Except when I run Disk Utility it keeps crashing. Funny enough when I run it from Recovery mode from boot its fine. But when logged into the OS (Lion) it launches and starts gathering information. Then crashes and I get the submit fault dialogue..Anyway here is the log. I have run Onyx, applejack etc but the problem has not been resolved. [code]

So tried to open a dmg driver (trusted source - Epson) and wouldnt open, DiskImageMounter would not load any way i tried, so tried to open Disk Utility and that's not working either. Both show same source of problem in Logs. As per another forum a is opped out said file with the same from another machine with same OS. Still no joy. Next stop Target Disk?

This might be a coincidence but I set up a new 2Tb Time Capsule today and assumed all was working as planned. I setup Time Machine to refer to the Time Capsule drive and the backups have been performed in keeping with the schedule etc. My issue is that for some reason the Disk Utility doesn't display. The icon will bob in the dock and then after that nothing happens. Like I said, coincidence? Latest OS X Lion 10.7.4 with one External HD attached and working as expected. In fact I used the Disk Utility only two days ago to format said external drive.Â

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro with Mavericks and transferred my files from an earlier laptop with an earlier OP. I had two files of MS Word documents, each file a title ending in "Book". Mavericks apparently automatically converted both file folders to iBooks, and now when I double-click on them the Terminal launches.Â
How can I get my folders back with their MS Word content?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using QuarkXpress 8.3 to try to convert a print file for a magazine into an HTML version of the file. (We've been converting to PDF's but my boss wants to try HTML now.) When I try to convert the file to HTML, Quark crashes.
The file is 21 2-page-spreads. I've tried duplicating the layout and converting it to a web page in the process and I've tried just converting it to a web file. It crashes either way.
The work-around that I've come up with is to make 21 copies of the file and then delete all but one layer in each file so that each layer is held in a separate file. That keeps it from crashing but now nothing is connected. They aren't even in the same project now.

My old 120GB hard drive seemed to be flaky, and I needed the increased capacity, so I upgraded to a 500GB hard drive on my white MacBook. Install was not hard at all, I formatted and partitioned the drive, but I can't seem to install MacOS X (10.5) on it from the DVD's that came with my MacBook. It will boot to the installer DVD, allow me to select the hard drive, and starts the install. However, each time it ends with something along the lines of "Error verifying Essentials package", and advises me to contact the software manufacturer. (Strange that it advises contacting the "software manufacturer" rather than "Apple."). The DVD is pristine, no evidence scratches. I also had problems earlier performing an Archive & Install on the old drive, but I thought this was because it ran out of room. I can also boot the MacBook through my old drive, attached to a USB enclosure. Can that drive be used to install a new system?

When I click it it asks the usual question about whether I am sure I want to open it, but then it fails to launch and says it can't open and that there is an error. I just bought a new WD hard disk and backed up all my data to it (80 GB). I then performed a clean install on my Macintosh HD.
Before I restored my data to the internal drive, I thought it would be a good idea to copy my fresh installation to a new partition on the external disk.
So I booted up disk utility to check if partitioning would affect my data. Using the partition tool, I clicked the plus sign (without applying changes). Disk utility said that if I add a partition, it would simply add a new volume and that the previous volume would not be erased. I clicked apply, and now there is nothing left of my data in the original partition.
Can I get it back? Undo the partition, or file recovery?
i have a hard drive i use mostly in Windows that i lost data and want to recover it. i've played with some of the free utilities on the internet but they either take too long or aren't very good.
since Tiger reads NTFS partitions i was going to try it on my Mac Mini.
i usually use a laptop and don't have time to leave the recover running for 10 hours or more. any good free utilities out there?
I just purchased a new Samsung HM640JI hard drive to replace my old 250gb fujitsu hd. The problem is, if I put the new samsung hdd inside and try to do a clean install of snow leopard, the setup always hangs at "extracting essentials" and I have to keep the shutdown button pressed to close my laptop. I thought I have a ram problem or that my dvd is busted but that's not the case because I inserted the samsung hdd in an enclosure, connected it via usb and the install went just fine. After the setup was over I rebooted a couple of times (still in usb enclosure) and everything was fine but after I inserted it in my mac everything went to hell: excruciating slow boot and runtime. View 10 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to burn a .cdr file to a dual layer dvd using Disk Utility. I got it to work once, but I tried four times. I think that it must be very sensitive or something, because I can't figure out any other factor that affects it.
Has anybody else run into this problem, and if so, what's your solution? I think it may have to do with vibrations of the disk drive or something, but I would be lying if I said I knew that for sure...
I'm erasing some partitions on a Mac that's leaving my possession, is Zero Out Data secure enough? To erase everything?
