Mac OS X Lion Server :: How To Switch Off Authenticity In Wiki Server

Mar 23, 2012

I am trying to find out how I can prevent the authenticity check used in Wiki Server (Lion).

So far I understood this is a recommended behavior from the HTTP specification and absolutely makes sense for the security.

Still, I am running in a private environment where I would like to use a login mechanism from another website.

Users need to be logged in to the other website (with identical authentication settings) before this mechanism becomes available.

I found: [URL]

But not sure where to look for when it comes to the configuration/modification of the OS X Wiki server.

Best would be to allow a simple "POST" with username and (maybe hashed) password instead of fetching and tweaking the login mechanism.

The authentication source behind is Active Directory for both cases.

The aim of this question is to have a "Single Sign On" in an environment where  Kerberos is not supported.

Mac OS X Lion Server :: Configure Wiki Server On It?

Mar 15, 2012

Right now I am able to view my Wiki data only through [URL] when I try [URL] I get a 404 Not Found. One thing that I think is interesting is that [URL] and [URL] both give me the "Welcome to Lion Server" page. I enabled the Wiki service and the Web service both through the Server application. My first thought was that I needed to configure a "Web Site" under the Web service to point to the proper directory location (such as in Snow Leopard Server).  I've tried several different directories for the "Store Site Files In" field, such as "/Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/Default" and "/usr/share/collabd/coreclient/public" to no avail. The Lion Server documentation shows how to migrate wikis, but I didn't see anything about configuring the service (either in the Wiki service or the Web service).

I want to be able to use basic html tags like forms, iframes etc...etc.. in my Wiki in 10.7.3 Lion server. I just can't find any definitive information on how to allow these types of tags etc...previous versions seemed to talk of a whitelist....but I can find nothing on my server like this.  Any attempt to add them seems to get stripped when I go and save the wiki page.

Mac OS X Lion Server :: Embedded Video Cannot Play Back On Wiki

Apr 19, 2012

I'm running 10.7.3 Server to host a Wiki with a local business. Everything is running great except for one thing. Embedded media.

Whenever we attach video files or keynote media, it will play back on the machine we posted it from but once anyone else pulls up the content on their machine it will show a media playback bar but will not play back. We've tried .mov, .m4v, .mp4 etc. and it will never play back.

Mac OS X Lion Server :: Wiki Not Being Backed Up Due To Postgre Backup Failure?

Apr 25, 2012

I'm running the OSX Lion Wiki, and using Time Machine to backup the server.

To test my backup, I restored a new computer from the TM drive.  What I found was that the Wiki wasn't being properly restored.

Digging in, I found the following:

- System log indicates an error from ServerBackup during postgre backup:

Apr 24 14:11:11 radioserve ServerBackup[31725]: Error in calling backup command for service postgresql, error :=69

- The postgre database does appear to be backing up (getting dumped into a file), but then the required tarball isn't being created.  A scan of /Library/Server/PostgreSQL/Backup shows only the dumpall file, and its size and time stamp do update each Time Machine backup instance.

-rw-rw-r--+ 29 root  wheel  105399572 Apr 25 08:11 dumpall.psql

- Manually running ServerBackup shows the following error for postgresql:

curServicePath := /.ServerBackups/postgresql/postgresql.browse.plist

WARNING: Service postgresql folder does not exist for browsing.

Mac OS X Lion Server :: Run A Shared Wiki Calendar On It - External Users Can't Login From Interbet?

Feb 6, 2012

I installed Lion Server on a MacMini  to run a shared Wiki calendar, and all is quite well, I got the Wiki calendar page up and running and the iCal clients have successfully subscribed to it.The problem: external users can'tl log in from the internet. On our LAN they can reach the Wiki Home page at http://10.x.y.z/wiki but how do they log in from the internet ?We have a DynDNS host name, but [url] brings up an empty page.I forwarded port 8080 to our server. I did checkip -checkhostname and it looked alright to me. The server has a FQDN  ourserver.name.private. that points to 10.x.y.z and the reverse lookup points to the server name.

I'm waiting for a copy of Leopard server to come in which I believe has a Wiki function built in, does anyone have any experience on this?

Mac OS X Lion Server :: 10.7.3 Server Update - Single Sign No Longer Works

Feb 9, 2012

I recently updated my Server running 10.7.0 to version 10.7.3 and single-sign-on no longer works for my users. The 10.7.3 Lion Server System is bound to our Active Directory Server running on Win2003 R2 Server. I tried un-binding and rebinding the system but.. no luck. When a user now tries to login to our shares via AFP with SSO credentials they recieve the message

I can run the id command from terminal on the OS X server and it is seeing AD users. Unfortunately, no one can log into the server shares via AFP with an AD user.

Mac OS X Lion Server :: Software Update Server Not Pushing All Updates

Jun 28, 2012

I am running Lion Server 10.7.4, with Software Update Server running. My clients are all configured to hit that server as I have them pointed to it via a preference modification (I've also used Workgroup Manager with the same results). What's happening is this:

Client runs SW update locally, it goes to my server and either:

1. It finds no updates (although this is false). If I run same update to Apple's servers ot finds updates

or

2.It finds updates but not all of them. This is what's happening more of the time.

I can verify in the access logs on the server that clients are in fact hitting the server. Is there some sort of cache that needs to be cleared? I was reading something about an Apache issue, or perhaps DNS? I have tried both local IP address as well as name of server.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Software Update Can't Connect To The Update Server

Mar 24, 2012

"Software Update can't connect to the Update Server" - so I can't even check to see if updates are available. This has been going on for sometime. For a while if I created a new admin account and used that it would work, but not today.Tried creating a new admin account but to no avail.

I clcik on the Apple Icon, (top left hand side of screen), click on SOFTWARE UPDATE, it runs for a split second, then: [URL]after which I check my internet connect to see that it's fine. (And I attempt to run SU with nothing else using the internet). [URL] I've checked the forum and found a few people with the same problem. I've tried deleting PLISTs and using 008.008.008.008 DNS address, [URL], but still cannot get it to work. I still have my old G4 Power running OS 10.5.8 connected to the same modem (Netcomm NB6PLus4w Modem which has 4 ports) as my Mac Mini, and it runs Software Update without any issues. So it's not my internet connection and it's not the Apple server, so it's something about the Mac Mini that's not right.

Mac OS X Lion Server :: Get DHCP To Update DNS?

Apr 14, 2012

I have setup OS X Lion server to act as the DHCP and DNS server for my local network. DHCP provides gateway address and the local DNS server address.   DNS is set to forward to my ISP DNS servers. 'A' records and 'PTR' records have been created for the various servers on the network and I am able to resolve the servers via dig by name and address. I can also access the internet without issue. DHCP is handing out IP addresses to Windows clients on the network but I am unable to locate the machines with DHCP addresses in DNS either by IP address or FQDN. The windows clients are able to access the internet without issue. Looking at the DNS log there does not appear to be anything recorded when the DHCP address is allocated. Is there something special that needs to be setup either in DHCP or DNS that will allow DHCP to record the host and address details in DNS?

I have start/stopped the service a few times - it as downloaded  a load of multilingual voices post date 7th Feb 2012 and the Security updates for Snow Leopard post date 2//2/2012 just not the 10.7.3 updates. Do Apple put a delay in the server to try to spread the demand on bandwidth?
