Intel Mac :: Doesn't Connect Automatically To Internet When Boot Up
May 12, 2012
We lost our BT internet connection for a few days. BT eventually sorted it out and it was caused by a problem at the exchange.
Before this, the imac automatically connected to the internet whenever we booted up. Now it doesn't and we have to reconnect to the internet each time we boot up. I don't really know the correct way to do this, but what I am doing to connect is to open Safari which then says it can't connect and offers a diagnostics page where I can then go through a process to reconnect. Then it reconnects fine, buty the next time I boot up I have to go through the same process again.
My macbook air only connects to my home internet automatically occasionally, even though it is set to connect to the network automatically. I have to either manually type in my internet and password almost every time or I have to turn off and on the AirPort. This does not happen at other places where my computer is set to connect automatically. My mom has the same computer as me and lives in the same house and she has no problems connecting to the internet.
At my uni campus they have wifi everywhere, but when you connect to it (which my mac does automatically) you have to go in through a login page before you can use it. How can i get it to login once it connects to the wifi (i do use other wifi connections which dont require login). There is no wifi password (just the login page). Other than for ease of use, the other reason i am doing this is because i am setting up my cam to take pictures of a thief if my mac were to be stolen (then upload to ftp). The more auto connected internet - the better.
i upgraded my Netgear DG834PN router to the latest firmware and changed the security to WPA2 encryption and ever since then my MBP doesn't snap back on to the WiFi automatically? when selected manually, it connects fine, just not automatically after sleep or being away from the house?
It has been this way as long as I've had the Magic Mouse - if I change the batteries, it won't re-connect. I must plug in a USB mouse and manually connect the Magic Mouse. This is on a relatively recent 24" iMac. Am I doing something wrong?
PS: I think at some point in the past I made the mouse a Favorite in trying to fix this.
I have used my Imac for about six months without any problems. All in a sudden it does not always reconect to my router after getting into sleeping mode (not always, but around 8 of 10 times it does not reconect). I have to click on my router that are listed among other routers that it picks up in the neighbours.
Imac is of course setup to automatically reconnect to my router in the settings.
I have restarted my router as well, and also renamed the router as well to be be sure there are no conflicts. My Router is a Thomson TG789vn
I installed Vista Home Premium 32 bit on my brand new Macbook Pro 17 inch, except I am unable to connect to the internet. I just recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and was curious if all the drivers would have been installed correctly with Boot Camp. How do I get the internet to work on Vista?
Since the Lion upgrade, my desktop will not auto-connect to my home WiFi. Macbook Pro running same upgrade acts appropriately...Already tried renewing DHCP, resetting router etc..

How do I get Windows 7 Home Premium to connect to my existing internet connection, on my iMac (Lion 10.7.3)? The installation of the Windows 7 using Bootcamp went fine, up to the point of getting connected to the internet. My iMac side of the partition connects to the internet just like it always did.

I have multiple problems: a. When I connect a cable to the internet, i am unable to directly login to the internet. I need to go the ISP site, login and then it connects me. I have tried to create some network connections which are not letting me connect directly without requiring a password. PLease note that I have provided the login id and password in the network preferences and created it but unable to login in.
b. Please also let me know how to delete all prior network settings.
I am new to apple and hence only capable of system menu driven capabilities.
My Imac (mid 2007 snow leopard) doenst connect to wifi any more. it used to work but is seems broken. (nothing changed at the network) It doens recognize networks but when ik try to connect it times out.
I tried serveral networks, even removed te password protection of the net works but it doens connect. I tryed the hardware test by pressing D at start up but it dint gave any errors..
My macbook pro connects normally and all by other wifi devices work fine..
It's been working fine on the internet since I bought it. I installed Windows 7 on it with Bootcamp a few days ago and have OSX and Windows side by side.
Suddenly the internet has completely stopped working, it refuses to load websites on any browser. There's nothing wrong with my network, I have a MacBook Pro which works fine, as well as an iPhone.
I don't think it's a hardware issue either, since when I boot the iMac in Windows and connect to the Wi-Fi, the internet works perfectly.
It's just in OSX. It says it's connected, signal strength is full. Says it has an IP, apparently no issues but the internet just won't work.
I have already done the following:
Rebooted several times. Removed ('forgotten') the network & reconnected. Removed the Wi-Fi location from the Network preferences panel & re-added it. Rebooted by router and cable modem. Switched wireless channel on the wireless router. Tried sharing the internet from my MacBook Pro via Ethernet. Nothing works.
After returning from sleep mode my prefered network won't automatically connect. I checked the settings and its set to automatically connect to my network. I have to turn of the wireless and then turn it back on or select my network before it will connect.
Have been unable to connect to internet today. My airport icon says, No Airport Card Installed. M mac laptop is connected, and our Roku tv is connected as well.Have tried all the troubleshooting things here: [URL]...
All of a sudden I cannot connect to the internet. I use both Safari and Firefox and have not been having any problems. My machine tells me that it is connected to the ethernet and I have an IP address and everything else, but it just won't connect. I run diagnostics and the internet and server lights are yellow, not green. There are no proxy servers and I changed the firewall settings to allow all connections. Still doesn't work. My provider tole me to exchange the modem today and see if that works. They say they can see my computer but they can't communicate with it. Is there some hidden firewall somewhere in the OS.
One fine day, my iMac running Mavericks 10.9.2 has stopped connecting to internet over WiFi. it is self assigning an IP to itself and refuses to do a DHCP handshake with my router. My other wifi devices can connect to this network without any issues. So us the same iMac when it runs Windows 8.1 on the boot camp partition. I have tried the following fixes, but to no avail:
1. Delete the location 2. Delete networks 3. Reset DHCP 4. Restore Mac to a previous restore point where it used to connect to internet without any issues.

I've installed the drivers, and when I start up in Windows, neither the internet or the wireless pick up.
Using Windows Vista Home Premium. The little wireless icon in the tray just has the big X, so it's literally picking up nothing. I also can't connect via ethernet.
I just downloaded Diablo III, and tryed to install it, it didn't work and i constantly got this Blizzard Launcher can't connect to the internet error. I tryed redowloading the game 2 times, i tryed closing all unnerserssary programs but it wouldnt work. So i went on Skype and called some friends and chatted for around an hour. Then i open Minecraft, and when i join a server, My iMac's screen just freezes. i can still hear my friends over skype and i can still use all the keyboard commands to lower or raise the volume. But other than my mouse and the lighting nothing moves on my screen. I tryed restarting. Didn't work. I can still hear the background programs like Skype and spotify opens but the screen is just all white with some small grey boxes here and there. I tryed taking the wire out and hold the on/off button in for 10 seconds, didn't work either.Does anyone know what to in my situation? Should i go to the applestore and get it fixed? (The nearest Applestore is 2 hours of driving away)
I have a Mid 2009 21inch IMac connected to the external hard drive. I just bought macbook air which i use to connect to my iMac at home via icloud. My problem is that i cannot find the external hard drive which is connected to the iMac. I tried to assign the external storage as shared folder. That didnt work. I tried to make alias and drop it in the public folder. it does not work either.
I try to connect my soundcard motu 896 MK3 to the firewire plug and my computer doesn't recognize it. When i check on the apple menu/about this mac/more info/firewire it says that it can't figure out what hardware is connected. If i plugg another device through the same firewire plugg then it works.
I have a macbook a little over a year old. It's my first mac and I love it. Yesterday though it started acting really weird. I first noticed that it was really, really hot and the fan was running. I turned it off and back on and here's what I found out:
Applications are being deleted from macbook. ITunes, IPhoto, iChat have clear question marks over icon. There are 8-10 blank spaces in the Applications folder where applications have been deleted. However, data is still there (ex. pictures still there, but no iPhoto).
Internet= Says I have internet but wont connect.
Cannot open " System Preferences" or "Internet Preferences".
If connected to home computer will connect to internet and allowed to open internet preferences but still no system preferences.
If shut down....takes a while to come back on and starts up 2-3 times.
Also "Preview" is gone. Now " ColorSync Utility" opens.
Is this my hard drive dying? I'm tech challenged, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
