Jun 21, 2012I have been using the same exact setup with the 2011 MBA but the new one won't work with my projector. I have a Acer X1161P 3D-DLP Projector and the proper cables since this has previously been working. I saw that in the first update there was something about external monitors.

Apr 24, 2012When running through a projector to give a presentation the color red has disappeared. The first time it happened I calibrated with the Color Munki and all was well, for a while. Now the Color Munki can't calibrate it anymore. I've tried two different projectors (both work with another laptop)tried two different cables and two different connectors.Also tried different calibrations.Today we ran disk utilities and that worked great, for an hour or two.

Apr 14, 2010There was another thread on this that I found via Google, but now I can't seem to find it again. I have to occasionally hook up my Macbook (not a Pro) to various digital projectors at different companies. I bought the $20 attachment thing. I brought it in and have not been able to get any projector to recognize it at all. This is on several different projectors. I try hooking it up both before and after turning the computer on and it doesn't work. I went to "Display" in System Preferences but there is nothing there about changing the display (to "dual" or "mirror" or anything), it just says "Color LCD" and some preferences about size, bits and stretching. There are no tabs. The worst part is that I teach at a lot of tech companies, so the people there should all know how to fix it, but...1.) can't read English that well, and my Chinese is OK but not *that* good, and 2.) they all use PCs. Macs are like aliens to them. So they can't fix it either. The manual is worse than useless.

However, when I try to connect to a Sony VPL ES1 data projector, the screen resizes (normal and OK) but the data projector shows a completely different desktop image and I can't see a cursor.
Presume this is a bug, but is there a work-around I'm missing?

I wanted to know if there was a way to split the screen to see something different than what the projector is showing, so that I don't have to guess which verse comes next in keynote,
I can just see it on my computer and click it and project it onto the screen. Hoping that made sense!

Jan 6, 2011I've got a problem with my address book that seems a little more complicated than I know how to solve. I opened my address book today, and it doesn't show any of my contacts. I also can't create contacts (I click on the little plus sign, and nothing happens).
Obviously there's a problem with the registry. What's strange is that I know that the addresses are still all there because they show up in my Skype, and in Facebook import (from Mac Adress Book).
I tried using time machine, but no avail, I also reinstalled Address Book, and nothing happens.

Aug 26, 2014My macbook is running Mavericks OS X 10.9.4, and I'm having difficulty getting rid of the vertical black columns on my computer screen when it is connected to my classroom projector. I've played with the resolutions, and the best resolution for the VGA display is 1024x768...Unfortunately this creates less than desirable black columns on my computer screen. Another teacher in my school has display settings of "1024x768 stretched," and her macbook does not have the issue mine does. However, I don't think she is running Mavericks 10.9.4. I cannot find this display option on my computer.

I recently filled out my entire Address Book with contacts; address, AIM, email etc. I create my own address book ID as well, enter my info with email & Both screen names. All fine and good, however the past week or two after I filled out my Address Book, I notice that my neither AIM name is appearing on the other AIM names buddy list (in iChat) anymore. I use a 3rd AIM name just to see whats up that isnt in my Address Book and they both show up fine under that 3rd AIM name.so

Nov 1, 2009i just bought an external hard drive enclosure for a new hard drive but it doesn't show up when i plug it into my macbook. the enclosure lights up with a blue status light when i plug in the USB but it never shows in disk utility and finder. leopard is installed on the external hard drive (im trying to clone my macbook's hd). i'm thinking its the enclosure but are there any steps i can take to ensure i'm doing everything correctly? the external hard drive is working, it was installed in my macbook yesterday but i took it out because time machine restoring fails also, i plugged the external into my time capsule. the blue status light turns on meaning its plugged in but i only see my time capsule in the network

May 2, 2010I added about 20 new contacts and edited about 10 other contacts on my iPhone since the last sync. I just hooked my iPhone up to iTunes, went to "Info" and checked the sync contact field. Then I synced it, but no matter what I do, the new contacts dont show up on my Address Book on my Mac. It asked me for one duplicated entry, where I had to choose one and I choose one. It even says Sync Okay in iTunes.

Jun 30, 2012I was at the genius bar today and was told to do a recovery of lion. To hold down option key while starting and then pick the recovery drive and follow instructions after a few hours it went back to the start of asking for my apple id info again the computer didnt ever show the progress bar moving i exited and atempted to start and just sat at the white apple screen and never moved i then have started the process again... How long should this take before seeing any progess on the progress bar? When computer does restart will it come up he usual log in screen or not?
