I have a contact for my mom which used to be her first name and last name which I later changed to just "Mom" in the first name box after getting an iPhone. At the same time I started syncing with MobileMe and have been having this problem for about 2 years. Every time I send her an email it changes her name from just Mom to Mom and then adds her last name back into the last name field.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI save all my contacts in Address Book in the First Name field (not using Last Name Field). When I use Mail to send emails, somehow last name of the sender/recipient gets added to that person's contact. So John Harris becomes John Harris Harris - super annoying!
Someone suggested to delete all from Recent Recipients in Mail - I did that, it helped but only in relation to those contacts who have been deleted from Recent Recipients - is there a way to disable Mail poaching surnames from my emails and inserting them into address book automatically?
i've not really used the address book on my macbook pro with snow leapord but noticed some contacts in there; not the ones from my iphone. i can't figure out how to delete these contacts from the address book. also, if i wanted to keep my contacts from my iphone in this address book how would i go about it?

I have upgraded to Lion so that I can use iCloud.when I select a contact in the address book, I can't tell what account it is in,
and I can't change the contact to iCloud if it's not already in that account, so the
contact comes up on my other devices. This seems like a very basic function, yet if I want a contact to be on iCloud, it seems I have to create a new contact with iCloud selected in the preferences.
is there another way?

When I right click and choose 'add contact to address book' from within Apple mail, it adds the contact to the 'On My Mac' address book file. I want it to add the contact to a different address book. Is there a way to designate a specific default address book?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have run into a similar problem before, when Address Book stopped accepting changes to contacts altogether. I followed advice I saw on the web and deleted the .plist files for Address Book in the Preferences file in my Library. That worked like a charm. Now, that doesn't work.
I have deleted the files, restarted my computer, verified and fixed permissions using Disk Utility, and let my computer rest overnight by leaving it off. Nothing works and I've tried several combinations of order. I am running Mac OSX 10.6.8 on a first generation Intel MacBook Pro. All software is up to date

View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot edit contact pictures in my contacts, but only for one of my accounts.Â
I have 2 address book accounts. One private set up to sync via CardDAV to Lion Server, and one work account on Exchange 2010 SP1. Adding or editing contact photos works on my private account both on my iPhone/iPad and on my MAC. On my work account I can edit och change picture but not ADD a picture on my mac, but it works on my iPhone/iPad.Â

My mail and address book (contacts) were working fine, but now Mail does not recognize the address book. It is still there, but Mail says it is invalid.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use my Mac for business for years, and until now, I've kept a Windows box to print out mailing labels.I finally got off my butt and got my contacts moved over into address book so I could just use one computer. However, when I went to print a test sheet of labels, I saw that there was no option to print the the Position of my contacts on the label...which I need to do for business.I'd prefer not having to put the "Position" into another field to get it to print, because I like to keep things organized.I'm not afraid of jumping into the Terminal if that's what it takes to get this feature added to my copy.I just need to be able to do it somehow.

Using a G4 IBOOK with OS 10.5.8. Recently converted IBOOK from just my wifes computer to both of us so it is now dual usuage with both of us signing in to our respective files/e-mail, etc. My side has a problem never experienced before. My apple mail system address book has all the names the dock address book does but is missing almost 2/3rd of the actual e-mail addressess. I have tried to redo the dock address book in hopes it would change the "internal" mail book, but to no avail. It id difficult to add a recipient to an outgoing e-mail via the dock address instead of the apple mail address book.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently discovered that many random email addresses are being added to my address book. The majority is junk and is clogging my address book with entries that could possibly be spam addresses. First off, is there something I inadvertantly turned on? Is there a way to disable this feature? I have installed one tool called Attachment Tamer (ver3.0.10 from Lokiware) but this does not seem to have anything relevant. Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just converted to imac but have a little problem with Entourage.
Basically I want to automatically add all SENT addresses to my address book, but Entourage does not do this. I looked up the web and there is a software patch but this captures ALL addresses which will result in an address book full of garbage.
We've got iCal, Safari, Photo Booth, iTunes, etc.
But why are "Address Book", and "Mail" essentially nameless? It seems a bit odd.
If it weren't for the old laptop, "iBook" would be a perfect name for Address Book.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIn going from Tiger to Leopard, I backed up my HD to an external, but I apparently didn't do it correctly because Migration Assistant acted like the files were not there. So, I manually copied my files over along with select apps & preferences files.I got everything (Firefox, Thunderbird, etc) working exactly how I left them in Tiger. But, I messed up my Address Book and Mail. Now when I try to use them it says "You cannot use this version of the application [app name] with this version of Mac OS X.Is there a way to just reinstall these two apps without starting over with a fresh install?

My Mail and Address Book do not appear to be talking very well. Out of the box, the mail application does not appear to let me select recipients from the Address Book when composing a message. I added the "Address Book" button to the toolbar for composing a message. I can click this and bring up the address book, but there is still seemingly no way to select recipients from the Address Book.Â
I read somewhere that the "auto complete" function is supposed to reach out to Address Book when entering recipients' names in the "To" line. This is not working. I found some suggestions to go and delete a file in the Library that governs this function. I did that, but it has not worked.Â
What am I missing? Why is it so difficult to select people from your address book and send them an email from the Mail application? Is something broken here or is this a reality for this Mac? My wife is ready to kill me for throwing out her beloved PC.
How do you delete email address' that come up automatically when sending mail? Old ones that have been changed come up before the new one?? I need to get them deleted.
