Configured Mail in 10.4.11 to iCloud specifications and get error messages and still cannot send and receive. Get error messages, "does not recognize password" etc. Have working on Snow Leopard, iPhone iPad but not 10.4.11 PPC Mail. I used Apple support set up. I originally had a .mac account and have tried both XXXX@mac.com and xxx.me.com as username. I Upgraded my password to stronger suggested strength. (one cap and one letter minimum 8) I verified Keychain. I have even deleted everything including Keychain and account and started over numerous times, still no joy. Ports are incoming 993 and outgoing 587. Will not be upgrading this machine due to production software issues but was told I could stll use the .mac emailÂ

I have an IMAP account in Lion Mail, that I would like all the individual messages exported into a Folder, say on my desktop. This email is no longer functioning so I simply won't be able to re-import the messages if I were to export the mailbox as it appears it only places a plist file referencing the IMAP information. Previously I believe I was able to highlight all messages and drag-n-drop them into a folder of my choice. I can sort of do it, One by one if I drag and drop. Is there any other method to obtaining this.....selecting all messages and dropping them into a local folder?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to configure Mail.app to mark messages that have been read to be marked as read also on the Gmail server? I hate having 13 new messages in my mail.app, reading them all, and then being on my iphone and having to click on them all or delete them to apply them as read. Opening the messages on the IPhone's mail.app marks the messages as read on the gmail server also. Marking the messages as read using Gmail's native email site, the messages are also marked as read on the iphone mail.app. Why doesn't the native mail.app in OS X do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a computer that was on display and thus already configured to the store's settings (i.e. username, Mail, etc.). I've managed to change every setting to my liking except the username that appears on Terminal and the one on Sharing & Permissions; I keep getting the store's username on those fields. I changed the home folder's name using a tutorial on YouTube but that change does not affect Terminal or Sharing & Permissions! I don't want to re-install Lion...

We often have guests or baby sitters who want to use our Mac to browse the web,so I'd like to enable the Guest Account. The problem is that I have FileVault2 enabled on the family iMac. The combination (FileVault2+Guest) means that every time someone logs in to the guest account, they need to select the Wifi SSID and enter the Wifi password. Not all of our guests are confident with that, and if I'm not there it often can't be done. Is there a way I can configure the SSID and Password for wifi for the Guest Account so that the guest does not need to do it?Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedEach time I log into Lion, Safari launches automatically. Even stranger is the fact that if I look at my history, it always goes back to the middle of May 2012. I have deleted my history each and every time too. Until last week, it not only launched Safari automatically but took the it to a site I checked back then but do not have set as my home page nor do I have it bookmarked. Last week it stopped taking me to that site but still launches Safari but no browser window is shown.

On Lion Mail (5.2) I have an Exchange (2010) account and everything is working well other than my "Sent" messages folder. There are many messages in my "Sent Items" folder in webmail (as well as when connected with other mail clients, Outlook, Evolution etc.) that do not show up in my "Sent" folder in Mail.app. Interestingly, when I send a message with Mail.app, it drops it in the "Sent" folder, and these show up just fine in webmail, so the "Sent" --> "Sent Items" mapping appears to be correct. Is there any way that I can get all of my sent messages to show up correctly?

I have a guest account set up on my Airport Extreme. I'm trying to hook up a wireless gaming adapter (xbox) to a Slingbox. It's worked in the past with linksys routers that had no security. When I set up the airport, I set security by default, but I want to remove it from the guest account. I just can't find the way to configure the guest account.
I'm sure is's pretty easy, and just a button I can't find, but if someone could point me in the right direction,
Using Messages I sent a text to my wife's iPhone 4S. It starts a new screen. How do I send a message so it just appends that message to all the others she's been getting from me?

I want to set up an account in Apple Mail that only is used for sending out messages (SMTP). The mailbox exists, but I want it POP-ed by another method.I figured out how to suppress fetching email automatically (Preferences > Accounts > Advanced), but that still fetches whenever I click the "Get Mail" button. Can I configure a mailbox that's simply unable to check mail, but can send it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I am not sure how I got this virus or what happened...but somehow --a virus logged into my gmail account and sent out 500 random messages. The messages themselves are odd...they have no subject, then it has a random link to a website with a domain ending co.cc. Anyone know what this virus is? Importantly, how do I get rid of it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to set up messages, but when I go to the prefs, the AppleID is wrong. So, I tried clicking on:
Manage Apple ID & it takes to page in Spanish!!
I tried looking for the information via the question, How to change Apple ID in Messages, but found nothing.
Oddly, my Apple ID is correct for Support Communities, just not correct for Messages account.

In Messages, when i want to create a AIM account (like my other two Mac). I go to, Preferences, Internet account, add a other account, "Other messages account..." and click Continue. But in the next dialog box AIM is not visible (just Google Talk, Jabber and Yahoo are visible but not AIM !!) from the Account type drop down (in my two other Mac with exactly the same settings i can see one more menu in the drop down with AIM...) but not with my last computer.

I created a new account on my iMac so that she can use my iMac. I deactivated her email account in Mail in my account and activated it in Mail in her account. (Using 10.5.7 and Mail 3.6). She can send mail but not receive mail. If she sends me an email from her account, I can get it when I log in to Mail in my account. However, when I send an email to her, it is sent - but nothing shows up when Check Mail is clicked on her Mail. (If I reactivate her account in my Mail and click Check Mail, I can receive the messages that should have been sent to her account - but I don't want this to happen!).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just discovered that my IMAP email account is not saving any of my outgoing SENT emails on the server ! I have checked the settings and the option to store on the server is ticked.
I spoke to my ISP guy just now and he confirmed that there is nothing in the sent folder despite the fact that I sent three important emails today.
He suggested I 'untick' the option and save sent emails on my local iMac - and I did - and it works.....
But what is the point of an IMAP account ?? I need to work at two locations and synch the accounts ...
I found mention of this elsewhere on Google... but cannot see any fix.
(I have all updates downloaded and installed on the iMac as of this afternoon)
I had a hotmail account and about a month ago apple mail deleted all my messages from the hotmail account, therefore I am unable to access any of them from anywhere else except my mac.
I learned that that was due to me leaving the box "remove copy from server after retrieving a message." Now I fixed that and moved to gmail, as I was able to upload all hotmail messages to my gmail account through tuhunderbird.
Since I am not a big fan of Thunderbird as it is giving me some password issues, today I set up the gmail imap (I think) accunt on my apple mail, but there is no box "remove copy from server after retrieving a message" for gmail in prefrences, just for hotmail.
Now I am scared, will apple mail delete all my messages from the gmail server, and if it will, how do I prevent it from doing so?
I can't open Mail. When i try the whole "Welcome to Mail - you'll be guided through the necessary steps to set up your mail account" message comes up. It's been working perfectly fine, so I just don't get it.
I've used disk utilities to repair permissions etc and have re-booted...I've even closed it down and un-plugged it and then booted up again, but to no avail. I'm running OS 10.4.11.
The only thing I can think of that would cause something like this is that the computer wouldn't wake from it's sleep mode when I tried to turn it on earlier, so I pressed the off switch at the back to shut it down and to open it again.
For the second time in less than a month, all my older than 1 week emails disappeared from the inbox. The ones from Sent or from my "On My Mac" folders are still there, but the Inbox has only 20 or so emails. I have an IMAP account that worked great so far.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedOK, I've found most of what I need to configure Lion but I can't find the preference panel to change the 'all spaces' view to the old style (where you see all the spaces or desktops placed on the screen in equal sizes). The new default 'mission control' view isn't as useful to me. I also don't see where to assign apps to a specific space. Finally, how do you get at the 'spaces' option for a hot corner?

I have a valid externally trusted cert, changed the host name to the external name etc. The router is forwarding fine but for my life I cannot find the UI piece where I can tell all the web pages to accept SSL requests.I created a Website in the Web Pane and pointed it at 443 and that works fine so I know the router talks to the right box
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but today my Apple Account forced me to change my Apple ID. Just moments ago, with all my prior Apple ID info intact, I downloaded the Beta for Messages. Is that involved?

how I need to configure the mailserver. I want to receive my mails from my ISP, gmail, hotmail, etc. on the mail server, where I can get them per IMAP to my Mac/iPhone/PC. Where can I set this up. I can't find/I don't know how to call my mails from e.g my ISP to get it on the mailserver. If it's working, does the mailserver call it from my ISP with POP?
