Oddly, my Apple ID is correct for Support Communities, just not correct for Messages account.

The mailbox exists, but I want it POP-ed by another method.I figured out how to suppress fetching email automatically (Preferences > Accounts > Advanced), but that still fetches whenever I click the "Get Mail" button.Can I configure a mailbox that's simply unable to check mail, but can send it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn Messages, when i want to create a AIM account (like my other two Mac). I go to, Preferences, Internet account, add a other account, "Other messages account..." and click Continue. But in the next dialog box AIM is not visible (just Google Talk, Jabber and Yahoo are visible but not AIM !!) from the Account type drop down (in my two other Mac with exactly the same settings i can see one more menu in the drop down with AIM...) but not with my last computer.

I had a hotmail account and about a month ago apple mail deleted all my messages from the hotmail account, therefore I am unable to access any of them from anywhere else except my mac.
I learned that that was due to me leaving the box "remove copy from server after retrieving a message." Now I fixed that and moved to gmail, as I was able to upload all hotmail messages to my gmail account through tuhunderbird.
Since I am not a big fan of Thunderbird as it is giving me some password issues, today I set up the gmail imap (I think) accunt on my apple mail, but there is no box "remove copy from server after retrieving a message" for gmail in prefrences, just for hotmail.
Now I am scared, will apple mail delete all my messages from the gmail server, and if it will, how do I prevent it from doing so?
For the second time in less than a month, all my older than 1 week emails disappeared from the inbox. The ones from Sent or from my "On My Mac" folders are still there, but the Inbox has only 20 or so emails. I have an IMAP account that worked great so far.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use a few chat message programs on Mavericks but the Messages app is the only that doesn't use Shift+Enter for a new line and sends the half written message instead. Enter & Shift+Enter in messages does the same thing. Is there a way to change the keyboard shortcut so that Shift+Enter gives a newline instead of sending the message?Â

Is there any way to change the default font for outgoing text-messages, in "Messages"?
I can change it for one conversation, but then it resets to the default, tiny font.
The preferences menu only lets me change the conversation font.

The Mail feature on my MacBookPro is not saving all the messages from my inbox. It did at first, a year ago, but in recent months I notice that some messasges are omitted. They are not spam; they include messages from someone in my Contacts list, as well as other legitimate organizations, etc. I tried to see if they were "combined" into some other related message, but saw no evidence of this, unless there is some hidden indicator.

I live and die by my mailbox, I'd been using MS Outlook but it was fraught with too many bugs. A few months ago I decided to switch to Apple Mail as a lesser of two evils. I saw the demo for Apple Mail on Yosemite and it looks like a very robust program. However for now, I still find Apple Mail limiting especially with Exchange services.. but I digress.Â
I archive all my mail and rely heavily on the "search" feature. I recently started to notice messages I was searching for were missing. Initially I wrote this off to user error, however today I looked in my Sent folder and my Archive folder to find that there was only 30 days worth of mail?! I began to panic as I logged into my Office 365 webmail, but found relief in that all my messages were still there. The issue seems to be that Apple Mail is not keeping or displaying messages older then roughly 30 days. I've been using Apple mail for almost three months, so these messages should be there. Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently changed the primary email associated with my Apple ID and then reset all my devices to reflect this change by signing out and reauthenticating for iCloud and iTunes/App store. The problem is that no matter what I do, nothing seems to get my messages syncing from my mobile devices to my MBP. I've chekd to ensure the accounts are showing up and active on my iPhone and on my MBP based on the instructions and suggestions found. The most frustrating part is that the preferences in the Messages.app are greyed out along with the accounts so I cannot access them to configure.Â
My last ditch effort was deleting the plist files associated with Messages.app, but this also did not work.

It seems every day Apple Mail puts a couple good messages in the junk folder. Unfortunately, it doesn't mark them as junk, so I am unable to mark them as not junk. I reset the junk mail preferences, so it does not "trust junk mail headers in messages," and I removed the envelope indices as discussed here: Junk Mail eating non-junk mail but neither worked, ad good messages are still going to the junk folder.

I've been using Apple Mail (version 7.3 (1878.6)) on my MacBook Pro 13" (9,2) (MacOS 10.9.4) for years to integrate my GMail, university, and other e-mail accounts in the imap mode. Since some weeks, Mail is behaving odd: some messages are sent automatically to the archive folder. That's quite annoying, as I have to move them manually back to the inbox folder, and sometimes I mess some messages. I did not change any config in Apple Mail or my e-mails servers.

We had a HDD fail on one of our office Mac laptops (a power pc G4). Apple repaired it and I restored all files etc from a backup. I was the administrator during the restore. Before I could get back, the user changed that account to a standard account and changed the name. Now there is no way to change the account back, because there is no admin to authenticate the change. Anything I can do? I am not an advanced computer/Mac person.

I've been changing the permissions on some of my folders and files in my normal user account so they can be accessed and changed by another account. Problem is, I have a program that saves new files into a particular folder. When it saves the new file, the permissions are the default, meaning I have to change them myself in order to make them writeable by the new account. So my first question is - is there a way to make my first user account always save files with a set of permissions that I specify?
My next question is - what should these permissions be? Both of the accounts are admin accounts. Should I therefore set group to be 'admin' and give rwx permissions to the group? Or is it possible to set owner to 'admin'? Can a file be owned by a group? Looking forward to your answers! This UNIX stuff is fun!
I use comcast for my email/internet. I set up three separate accounts each using the same return mail server: mail.comcast.net, but with separate smtp account names, password etc.No matter what smtp setting i use to send mail, i get 3 duplicate emails when anyone replies to my message. If I get a new message from someone the same thing happens. 3 duplicate messages.hat can I do to rectify this situation.Comcast Keeps asking for my passwords, over & over again.
