OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mac Mail 5.2 Frequent Crashing

Apr 27, 2012

I recently (2 months ago) purchased a new mac book pro and migrated everything from my older mac book pro running Snow Leopard to Lion.Since moving to Lion I have been experiencing frequent crashes of Mac Mail, I spend a large portion of my work day in mail and experience this as many as a dozen times a day. Mac Mail will crash while

1) composing an email,
2) when clicking a link in an email
3) clicking the attachment icon to add an attachment
4) clicking on an attachment that has been sent to me
5) somestimes just trying to exit/close Mac Mail and the it hangs and I have tp force quit. After Mac Mail crashes and is restarted, clicking on the same link or attachment will workI have removed my mail IMAP folder and settings and re-established the connection from scratch but the problem persists.I have ran the disk permissions repair utility and the problem persists. I have ran the verfiy disk utility and it reports no problems.I have ran the Apple hardware tests including the extended tests and no hardware issues are found. Has one experienced somewthing similiar?Does anyone have any suggestions where to start looking for the root cause? All crash reports seem to look [code]

MacBook Pro :: Frequent Crashing When ITunes Loaded - No Errors In Console?

Jun 17, 2012

I have an early 2011 17" MacBook Pro which is freezing up a lot, this only seems to happen with iTunes is loaded. The machine runs perfectly when iTunes isn't running, and it'll run for a little while when it is open, but then eventually all programs will freeze, leaving only the cursor moving. That will then stop moving as well and the entire machine will stay stuck as it is - the only thing that can be done at this point is to power it off. Closing the lid has no effect - the screen stays on and the machine does not sleep.

I've tried various things to fix this based on other threads with similar issues:
- Reset SMC and PRAM
- Reinstalled iTunes
- Disabled automatic graphic card switching
- Installed all latest updates - this seems to have made the problem worse
- Stopped my iPod touch and iPhone from syncing over wifi and made sure they aren't plugged in either
- Ran AHT, no problems reported
- Repaired disk permissions
- Reinstalled Mac OS
- Left the machine in its frozen state to see if it would wake up (it didn't, even after leaving it all night)

Every time this happens, I have a look at the Console to see if any errors were logged during the crash, but it seems there aren't any - the last few lines before reboot are always different and seem to have no real pattern to them.

OS X Mavericks :: Frequent Mail Crashes

Jun 26, 2014

I use Mail on 10.9.3 with multiple IMAP accounts (but almost nothing the servers, all local in many folders). In the last days Mail started to crash several times a day, mostly when I interact with messages (replies, moving to folders, attachment stuff etc.) I am too fast for Mail - but that never was the case before and I have a fast machine and Internet connection.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Frequent Kernel Panic On 10.7.3 When Using USB / Firewire Etc?

Apr 25, 2012

i'm experiencing frequent kernel panics on Lion with 10.7.3. This has only started occuring in the last week with no obvious changes before it started. I've repaired disk permissions, used OnyX to clean everything up, and it still occurs (approx 4-5 times per day). My computer is a 15" MacBook Pro with 8gb ram, 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, NVidia GeForce 9400m 256mb video card. It seems to occur more frequently when I have an external drive attached (either Firewire or USB). As my profession is video editing, it's not really viable for me to simply not have one connected!! This is starting to get quite frustrating as it interrupts my work significantly.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Frequent Dropped WiFi Connection From IMac?

Mar 22, 2012

Since installing Lion I lose my wireless internet connection frequently - only from the IMAC, not from the IPAD or Dell. I called support and after quite a lengthy "try this" session, I was told that this was a known problem. I can always get it back but sometimes have to unplug the router.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Frequent Time Outs Loading Pages

May 19, 2012

OK, I'm running OS 10.7.4.  After downloading the latest version of FireFox (12.0), I started experience extremely frequent timeouts in loading pages.

So, I launched Safari.  Same thing happened.  Reloading the pages doesn't seem to work in either browser.

Checked with the ISP.  Download and upload speeds were within acceptabe ranges.

The only common denominator seems to be the OS. The other major thing is that streaming video will start, but after about half a minute, it hangs and will not reload.  I also have the latest Flash Player.

Also running Sophos Free Antivirus, recently downloaded. It's also pretty slow launching Finder. All around I get lots of beach balls. I know it's enticing to blame something other than Lion, but Lion seems to be the only common denominator.

Have tried disk utility repairs and various restarts with key strokes to reset but they don't work after a short while.

MacBook Pro :: Frequent Hangs After Adding Seagate Momentus XT 750GB With Lion

Apr 22, 2012

I installed a Momentus XT 750 (ST750LX003-1AC154  firmware SM12) into my MacBook Pro (late 2009).  I then did a full clean install of OSX 10.7 and updated to 10.7.3.  Lately I have been getting odd hangs of applications and eventually the OS, finally I have to hard-power it down and reboot.

No SMART errors reported, PRAM and SMC have been reset.  I am on the latest firmware and EFI for this particular MacBook Pro.   I do not think that this drive is spinning down if idle.

As far as I know there is not a firmware update for the XT 750 drive and I am on SM12.

What else can I try to get this machine stable?  This is a 750GB hybrid SSD drive and I read about lots of issues with SSD and hybrid-SSD drives in previous generation MacBook Pros, particularly with Lion.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Frequent Kernel Panics Seem To Happen Primarily When Using Adobe Premiere Pro

May 28, 2012

I seem to be having constant kernel panics when using my 2011 iMac (OS X 10.7.4), they seem to happen primarily when using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and happen from about 5 minutes of using the program to about 30. Even if I am not using adobe though the kernel panic still happens after about 30 minutes. I uninstalled Adobe and all seemed fine, so I attempted to reinstall it, but part way through the process it kernel panic's again. I was wondering if it could be when I am doing stuff on system intensive programs, so I tried running a game of Civ V, and that didn't seem to have any problems.

OS X :: Temperamental Mail, Keeps Crashing - How To Repair It

Nov 29, 2008

I am using Leopard version 10.5.5 on a Mac Pro and Mail keeps crashing when trying to sync accounts.

I have two MobileMe accounts that sync with the account, and it always crashes while doing a search for new mail.

It was working fine this morning, I then turned my computer off to go to work, the only difference now is that I started my computer up with my iPhone connected. At first I thought that may have been the problem, so I restarted without it.

Now for the actual question; If I can't resolve it, does anyone think that deleting the Preferences file will fix it.

Software :: Mail App Crashing Under Snow Leopard?

Oct 24, 2009

I am using a MacBook Pro 4,1 with 2 Intel processors. I am running OS 10.6.1. Ever since I installed Snow Leopard, my Mail app has misbehaved. It crashes routinely whenever I add an attachment. It never did this under 10.5. It also crashes occasionally when I save an attachment. Sometimes it appears to have taken the attachment, but when the message is sent, the attachment is corrupted. I think the only app I am having trouble with is Mail, although I think that Safari has crashed sometimes when a PDF file was downloaded. The problem seems to be associated with Snow Leopard. Should I try to do a clean install of Snow Leopard?

OS X Yosemite :: Mail Crashing With Exchange Account

Dec 4, 2014

I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 on a 2014 Macbook Pro. On startup Mail crashes immediately with the following error: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'An EWS folder ID string didn't have a corresponding mailbox name'

I have three email accounts (Exchange, iCloud, Gmail) and have disabled each one in turn and Mail opens and works fine with the iCloud and Gmail accounts. So it's definitely a problem with Exchange. In the Mail accounts pane the 'Advanced' tab has a listing for Internal Server Path with 'EWS/ Exchange.asmx' listed in the box, so I'm guessing it has something to do with that (given the EWS bit in the error message)?

I've moved the com.apple.mail folder to the desktop and re-opened Mail (I've moved the folder back to where it was). I can access my Exchange mail from both iPhone and iPad, so the problem seems to be restricted to OS X Mail rather than a problem with a specific email (seems logical?).

OS X V10.5 Leopard :: Delete An Outgoing Email That Keeps Crashing Mail?

Mar 26, 2012

I tried sending an email this morning. It was addressed to about 220 people, all BCCd.

When I hit send, I got the message:

Cannot send message using the server Gmail [it's a gmail account, obviously]

The server "smtp.gmail.com" did not recognize the following recipients:

Big list of every email address

I couldn't get out of this screen, so I force quit.

Now that message is still in the Outbox, and every time I try to open Mail, it tries to send that message again, and I get the same error message.

I ended up going onto gmail.com and just sending it from there with no issues.

I would like to delete this message so it would just stop crashing Mail, but I can't figure out how to do it.

I'm running 10.7.3, the version of Mail is 5.2

OS X Mavericks :: Mail Crashing Every Time When Try To Empty Trash?

Jul 2, 2014

Since installing Mavericks I have found that lots of basic tasks have become a bit difficult.

One such frustrating example of this is whenever I go to empty my trash folder in Mail it crashes. If I select it through the menu (ie. <Mailbox> <Erase Deleted Items> <In All Accounts>) it works fine but I like to do a quick check before emptying the trash and that seems to cause my Mac to implode into a processing black-hole of burning lava (it gets hot until I <Force Quit>).
