OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mac 101 Connect Camera Or Camcorder?
Jun 27, 2012
Before I upgraded to Lion I was able to use my HP Photosmart 912 camera with iPhoto. This camera uses a Compact Flash Card. Â
Now I cannot import pictures into iPhoto. What happened that will not allow me to now use my camera? Do I need to return to Snow Leopard to be able to use my camera or would upgrading to iLife give me an upgrade to iPhoto. I have iPhoto 08 version 7.1.5 (378).

Surely this is a pretty standard feature in laptops now, particularly with Apple's obsession with iPhoto etcDoes it come as an option? How do you get your pics off your camera? You have to connect a usb cable from the laptop to the camera?

I'm pretty frustrated because I just went to shot a bunch of footage with my Sony HD camcorder (Model: HDR-HC1) and when I wen to go plug it in, I realized that the new macbooks do not have a FireWire port! I can't believe that I missed this. I guess I didn't really think of it until now.

I bought a macbook pro a few weeks ago, I've got some footage which I want to edit and I asked some people I know and have been told I need to have a firewire port on my laptop and a cable to connect this to my videocamera. I'm not really sure what kind of firewire port I have though, I have the latest version of macbook pro, where can I get this cable from? Is it expensive?

how I could connect my mini dv camcorder to my mac and transfer the video to the computer. My camcorder only came with cord for playback on TV and the power cord, but nothing for the computer, especially a Mac. The manual refers to a Dv cable (hURL....) and says "When using a DV cable, be sure to use the optional JVC VC-VDV206U or VC-VDV204U DV cable depending on the type of DV connector (4 or 6 pins) on the PC". Currently running Mavericks with Thunderbolt and a FireWire 800 port.

I have a macbook pro and when i try and connect my Fujifilm A850 camera to it, a light blinks green rapidly, with the screen being grey and reading USB. But the camera doesn't appear to be connected to the computer as a drive and doesn't appear when iPhoto is open. When i connect it to my dad's iMac however, it works fine.

My video camera (JVC) has a USB port, when I connect the cord from the video camera to the macbook, it doesn't recognize it. I assume you can connect it to the computer this way since it has a USB port on the cam. The cam has firewire (which mac doesn't) and it charges from a dv connection.

I've tried to let it run it coarse in hope that it comes out of the frezze but this has not worked.

Mac Os X -Â the intern camera has a 'black' out. The green light next to it is on though.Â
But no picture is seen. Same goes for the video, of course.Â
Hence, no photo booth, no Skype, no face time application possible. Â
