OS X V10.7 Lion :: Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Updates
Jun 15, 2012
I have a Nikon CoolPix P80. Am I correct that this is simply not a sophisticated enough model to require the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Updates? It is never listed.
I have been trying to install (from software update) the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update for weeks now. I am using a Macbook Pro i5, Lion 10.7.4. Each time I run software update, after downloading some amount of KB, I get the following message; "The update 'digital camera raw compatability update can't be installed. The update could not be expanded, and may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded & checked again the next time that software update runs."
My friend updated her 13" Black MacBook yesterday, specifically the "Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.3". After a reboot, she got the Apple "Blue Screen of Death", with no login window showing. Looking at system.log, there's a section that looks to be the culprit (this began after restarting due to the install of the update):
Nov 7 13:55:29 Philbert /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow[31]: Login Window Application Started Nov 7 13:55:30 Philbert /usr/sbin/ocspd[53]: starting Nov 7 13:55:35 Philbert kernel[0]: display: Not usable Nov 7 13:55:35 Philbert com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.WindowServer[50]): Exited abnormally: Hangup Nov 7 13:55:35 Philbert com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.WindowServer): Throttling respawn: Will start in 6 seconds Nov 7 13:55:42 Philbert com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.WindowServer[64]): Exited abnormally: Hangup Nov 7 13:55:42 Philbert com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.WindowServer): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds Nov 7 13:55:52 Philbert com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.WindowServer[67]): Exited abnormally: Hangup Nov 7 13:55:52 Philbert com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.WindowServer): Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds Nov 7 13:56:02 Philbert com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.WindowServer[70]): Exited abnormally: Hangup
Here are some things I've observed/tried, many from sources via the Internet:
- I'm able to login in single-user mode - I'm not able to login in Safe Mode (hangs on white screen with Apple logo) - I've tried booting off the 10.5 install DVD and running Disk Utility - verify/repair disk, this comes back ok. However, if I try to verify/repair permissions, it runs for about 10 - 20 mins then freezes. I let the frozen process run overnight (10-12 hours) and no feedback. I can move the mouse, but I cannot select anything. - When the laptop is booted and on the blue screen, I can connect to it via AFP - I've tried manually changing the permissions of "/", by doing - chmod 775 /; chmod 1775 /; - I've tried removing the com.apple.WindowServer.plist and com.apple.loginscreen.plist files in case they were corrupted by the update - I tried running the "installer" command to re-install the update package from the command line. I run it with the "verbose" flags, I get no output and the process hangs.
Since I can connect via AFP I figure I'll be backing the data up and re-installing OS X. Pretty lame though, considering this failure was caused by running a Software Update. Anyone have a last minute suggestion for me before I go down that path?I've attached the full system.log.
Let us know when you get an Aperature plugin for this.It is interesting that you have plugins for cameras not readily available yet and nothing for the X-Pro1 when it has been on the street for well over a month.
Just found out today that my hard drive is dead. Looking into purchasing a new one and am having trouble making a choice between the Seagate and Western Digital. Are either or both compatible with tiger operating system?
So I'm getting ready to buy a new digital camera (am upgrading from an older HP 5.1MP camera) and I can't seem to find a list which states which cameras are compatible with iPhoto. I'm running iPhoto '08 on a iMac G4 10.5.6 / MacBook Pro IntelCore.
So far I'm looking at Canon's PowerShot SD790 IS, and their PowerShot A590 IS. Does anyone know if these two cameras are compatible with iPhoto?
I hate to start the subject of this post so negative but Snow Leopard is really disappointing. I have had nothing but problems since I've installed it. My computer runs a million times slower, Firefox takes forever to load pages that once loaded in a snap. My digital camera doesn't sync anymore.
We got (by mistake) a kid's digital camera (MiCam Junior) that only advertises itself as being compatible with Windows, and which uses some (supplied) Windows software to download the pictures...
At first I thought it was no big deal because most (real) cameras don't need special software but just behave pretty much like an external drive.
But for some reason, this one doesn't - it is not picked up by iPhoto or Image Capture...
I have no SD card drive, I just have a Canon Powershot camera that uses an SD card for storage and connects to the computer via USB, so I was wondering, is there any technique or program out there that would allow me to load files from the computer onto the SD card through the camera's USB? Or are those typically locked as a one way street?
I'm looking for a program where I can take pictures with my digital camera and see them on the mac exact the same time I took the picture (plugged in via usb)
I recently bought an eMac and it is the first mac that i've ever owned so I am not completely familier yet on what to do to make everything work. My problem - I have a digital camera that has the ability to take video. When I plug the camera into the computer iPhoto recognizes the pictures but neither iPhoto or iMovie recognize the video. It there a way to make this work so I can upload the videos to my computer? I know the videos can be moved to computers for I have done it on my pc.
I've never had problems with this digital camera under Leopard, but now under Snow Leopard, when plugged in, iPhoto is opened but nothing happens at all. Nothing in finder. Is it possible that this camera is no more supported? I tried to look for new drivers, but drivers are available only up to MacOSX 10.5. Is there anything I can do? (camera is HP Photosmart R818)
When I plug my digital camera into the usb port nothing happens for some reason. On my windows pc it automatically knows when its plugged in. it is a canon powershot a570is
im trying to upload a video from my kodak usb camera M1093IS and i cant seem to find a way to do it. i plugged it in and i opened up imovie and my camera didnt show up. my camera also didnt show up on my desktop (which i understand to be normal since i used the search feature) but i still cant seem to find a way to do it. I need to upload a video for a school project.
recently (the last week or so) my computer has stopped recognizing my digital camera. I have a G5 running in version 10.4.6 and a Fujifilm FinePix 460 camera. I had never had any problems before, usually I would plug in the camera and it would show up in iPhoto and on the desktop right away, but now no matter what I do, it won't connect. The camera says it is connected, but not the computer. I have tried switching around the plugs in the back, and also restarting, etc... but nothing's working...
How do I download pictures to mac os x with sd card? I've been using a usb port but I have a video on my camera that is too long and it shuts off before it downloads. My friend uses windows and he just takes the sd card out of the camera and plugs it into a slot and downloads the pics. I can't do that on my mac os x.
I'm an illustrator, and I have enough need for photos of myself and various objects that I have a Nikon digital camera permanently mounted on a tripod in my studio. Is it possible to use Photo Booth as a viewfinder, so that I can see the camera's-eye-view of whatever I'm shooting? I know that literally, it can be done, because I currently use Photo Booth to shoot micro photos from a Celestron USB digital microscope. So why not input from a Nikon? Can it be done? If so, how?
I am using a MacBook Pro 13" and today I was shown in PC world how to use a digital signature by using the inbuilt camera. Is this possible with this model or is it only with the Retina models?
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.5)
I'm trying to download itunes update. I get a message, update cannot be installed. The digital signature for this packae is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by "Apple". What do I need to do to update?
On my Mac running Leopard 10.5, Image Capture has Preferences that allow me to choose an option that opens Image Capture when a USB digital camera is attached. That's gone on my new Mac with Snow Leopard. I never needed camera software to make this work, and unfortunately I have a Canon camera and Canon does not make drivers or software for Snow Leopard. So, how does one get Image Capture to open and download images from a digital camera? Did Apple dumb-down Image Capture like they did to iMovie?
I am not able to get 20 pictures off my digital Kodak EasyShare DX4530 to my computer using a USB cable and ImageCapture or iPhoto. The photos appear (I can see all the photos and files) but I am unable to transfer them or even open them and get information off. I think that this is because the pictures are saved on the Kodak camera's internal memory. What can I do to get around this problem?
I have spent the better part of an hour trying to rename a batch of pictures that I downloaded off my digital camera. As a recent switcher, it would have taken me a second to select the pics, right click, and rename them all in one batch. I was using Adobe's lightroom wich is really nice (free trial) and found it was going to be my picassa replacement (man do i miss that program) and I found that I need a plug in called bridge which only comes with photoshop which I dont have for mac. So.. anyone know how to rename 20 pics at a time. 2007 09 05 (1) 2007 09 05 (2) etc. who said changing over was going to be this hard. its like learning to ride a bike all over.
How do I upload pics from a sony digital camera (cybershot, about a year old)? I figured it would automatically detect the camera and get going, but nothing is really happening. Its probably really simple, but I have never done it before.
I am looking for a basic app (free if possible) that can help me convert movie files. For example, I took a video with my digital camera and the extension is .avi. I want to put on my iphone, which I believe only handles mp4 or m4v.
Can you plug a digital camera into the TC's USB port and upload photos? I tried plugging it in but the camera didn't show up anywhere. Can anyone confirm if this is possible or not?
