OS X V10.7 Lion :: Its Folders No Longer Show Number Of Items On Bottom
Mar 24, 2012
I have just updated to Lion and now my folders no longer show number of items on the bottom. Is there a fix for this? I allways found that handy. Now I have to click on an icon on the top, This is a backward step if that is now the only way to see the number of items.
Is there a way to see the number of items in a folder shown in finder?
Seems to me that in earlier versions, if you had a folder with 100 items (e.g., photos) in a folder in a finder window, when you clicked on the folder, something like "100 Items" would appear at the bottom of the finder window. I don't see this now in Lion.
How do I get the sent items to show who I sent the email to? Right now it lists the "from" (me). It basically has my name over and over and over again. Makes it difficult to speed through and find an email.I've gone through the settings and such but didn't find an obvious check box - did I miss something?
How can I show invisble items on //Time Machine Backups/Backups.backupdb? I've backed //Lion/ Users/User/ Library , but when i checked the backed folder, i could not find it.
I have a Windows PC. It has lots of shared folders. Suppose the name of the PC is "WinPC1". If I use a Windows laptop, I could easily see all shared folders by typing "\WinPC1" in the address bar.Â
Now, I am using a Mac. I know I can add specific folders by adding the server as "smb://WinPC1/<individual folder name>", but it cannot map the root "smb://WinPC1". Suppose there are 100 shared folders, then I would have 100 mounted folders on Mac.Â
Is there any way to map the root folder, like in Windows PC? I mean I only want a mounted folder for the "smb://WinPC1", not "smb://WinPC1/docs", "smb://WinPC1/musics",... and so on.
new mac user. have put my hotmail acc onto mail.i see my inbox from hotmail, but none of my folders already set up in hotmail. how can i get these to show too
When using finder and browsing through folders, it will only show me a list of recent folders. I use Lion. If I want to see all the folders or open up a less recent folder, I have to click "show all" at the top right hand corner. It gets tedious when I'm dragging and dropping files to different folders when I have to constantly click "show all" just to see the folders I want. Is there a way to override this function through the terminal? Is there a command I can use?
I just bought a MacBood Pro and used the migration assistant to transfer my files from my PC to my mac and now I cannot find my files. They are not in the corresponding folders where I thought they would show up.
I copied some file from one external drive to another and the folders doesn't show an arrow which I could click to show the contents of the folder. When I do get info it doesn't show the size of the folder but the hard drive that I copied from does. How do you make it show the arrow and size?
I am needing to replace the bottom case of my late 2006 MBP. It has a large dent in it that is causing some problems. My question is, do I need to get the exact part number listed on the bottom of my laptop (A1211) or can I get a bottom from any pre-unibody MBP i.e. A1260? Also, has anyone ever replaced this part? How difficult is it? I have experience working on laptops, I've just never taken a mac this much apart.
I have a late 2009 Macbook Pro. It gets extremely hot on the bottom and I am worried there might come a time where it overheats. I don't have the vents blocked, I shut it down consistently, and yet it still gets hot, almost to the point of being uncomfortable to the touch. I have tried looking up info, but am not sure where to go. What should be my next steps?
I have tried to add my number to both iMessage and FaceTime but it will only allow an email address to be added. I checked my Apple ID and my phone number is there. I don't know why my phone number mysteriously disappeared, it had been linked since I got my MacBook.
I have a Mac OS X version 10.5.8, one of the 2008 black/white models. Yesterday, I was messing around with my computer because the hard drive will not show up in the finder (I already did the system preferences, doesn't work). However, I guess I must have deleted something because when I restarted my computer, the menu bar blinks in and out unless i get onto safari but I can't get into finder at all. Also, All of my items on my desk top are gone. And I can't get into Itunes (file locked, on a locked disk, or do not have written permission to enter it)
I'm assuming this means I need to take it in and get it fixed. But I wanted to see if I can do anything to avoid that because I am in college and have a paper every week so I pretty much live off of my computer.
I have about a hundred "songs" of comedians telling jokes. The trouble is that these comedians get mixed up in my songs and whenever I shuffle through i always run into one of these comedians.
Is it possible to only have a certain group of "songs" stay in a playlist, away from the full list of songs?
I'm trying to see the frame number instead of the time. to see the frame number. I believe it was possible for previous versions, but not the latest 10.1 version.Â
I have unchecked every app in the Login Items menu in System Pref. Even deleted them out of the menu. Safari, iTunes, Mail, and a Finder folder show up automatically when I restart or login to my iMac. I have read some posts on this and I'm also aware that you can right click on the app in the dock and make sure it is unchecked to open at login. This problem seems to have started after I removed programs I did not want to start up in the Login Item menu in System Preferences.
I have searched for this as much as possible but am not finding any conclusive answer and am not a techy enough to try and figure it out myself. My laptop restarted itself last night for no reason and when i restarted it, all the items on the desktop were no longer there and in the Macintosh HD folder there was a ~ file with what seemed like a system dump (approx 500kb in size) Now Firefox and iTunes no longer work. iTunes says it can not find the library file. Here are some images of what it looks like: [URL:...] and here is the log from around that time too. [URL:...] This happened 6 months ago when i tried to install CS 3 suite and i had to reinstalled OSX and start all from scratch. If i delete the file and restart the laptop, the file returns, and then it begins to no longer recognize external hard drives and the only way to access them is via Terminal. i am backing up what i can for the moment but would prefer to know what has happened and how to fix it.
I am on OX 10.4.1.1 I think or maybe just 10.4.1 I know that some corrupted files got on my desktop and its preventing me from accessing my desktop but I can still get applications to run, I tried removing the files using Terminal but when I do so it says Access Denied. This is my computer and there are no other users on this. I believe I backed up all my files to an External a few days before, how to get finder to load properly so I can delete the corrupted files or know another way to get the files to the trash since I cannot see them.
I have a few files, folders, and the Macintosh HD icons on my desktop. I want is to display the info for Macintosh HD only. Can this be done or is it all or nothing? I am using Snow Leopard currently.
In Purchased Items,We need a Show/Hide Button to show any Resolution from 720 to 1080p, so we may see exactly what is D/Led, and what we may have missed, or need, we don't have. At any resolution Offered from what we purchased and Deleted to save space on Drives. I have deleted all but the 1080p copies. Have I missed any 1080p from my Library I need? iTunes should be able to show this information. Select the 1080p choice and any purchase that has not been D/Led in the selected Resolution will show up in the Purchased window. *(only the resolution's selected). Also in Search we should be able to search by Resolution and Time (duaration of film)

Since early this morning, I have had issues with my iCloud mail account. As of now I am able to send and receive mail fine, but the folders I used to organize messages are no longer showing up on Mail and my iPhone.
I was in the middle of dragging music into a folder and in the midst of it all it would no longer let me drag any file, photo, song or any folder around.
Found an odd problem with iTunes on one of my Mac's. My TV shows on one mac are dropped in a Season X folder, while on the other Mac they are not. Both have the Season and Episode information filled out identically (same files on both Mac's), yet one creates the Season Folders and one does not. I would prefer that they are just put in a single folder rather than Season subfolders, but I can work with either.Â
Both Mac's are set to allow iTunes keep the media folder organized and to copy the files to the media folder.Â
I'm curious if there's a plist setting that controls the creation of the Season folder, and if this other mac has a legay PLIST seting that is causing this difference?
