I have a few files, folders, and the Macintosh HD icons on my desktop. I want is to display the info for Macintosh HD only. Can this be done or is it all or nothing? I am using Snow Leopard currently.

Just wondering if there's a quick keyboard shortcut for toggling the "Show Item Info" option. It would be great if I could get a quick look at the sizes of my files within a certain finder window, then quickly turn that view option off.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI found that he installed an access in Keychain to my Time Capsule showing its password when he replaced my HD. When I try to delete it I am denied on my password. When I try to create a new Keychain my password is denied, so I cannot create a new Keychain and delete the old one— if that would work in this situation. I have some other issues with this dealer, an old one predating the Apple Stores. I don't like to go back to him to find out how I can get him out of my computer.

It worked fine with the Leopard set-up of the previous owner, but it won't do thing for me under Snow Leopard. Is there an incompatibility here, or does the printer just not like me?

I can Get Info on individual tracks but when I shift select or command select multiple tracks the iTunes window turns gray and nothing can be selected. iTunes just freezes until I press the Escape key. So far, everything else works as expected - the only problem is selecting multiple tracks (which worked fine for me on previous OS and iTunes versions).Â

I am trying to paste chemical structures from Chemdraw into my slides, however each item I paste have different size. However, my chemical compounds are a specific size that I need to keep constant.Is there a way for me to alter the size of items i'd like to post by altering the percentages? View 2 Replies View RelatedIn windows I can use the control key+select and shift+select to select items say, 5-15 or select multiple individual files. In OS X shift+select and cmd+select do the same thing. They let me choose multiple individual files but I can't figure out how to choose a series of files like choosing 5-15. I realize I can drag my mouse over it and click a few files I don't want with shift+select but it's just annoying me that I can't find the command for what I want to do. From the search I did I got the impression that shift+select and cmd+select are supposed to do different things but for me the don't. Did I miss something?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI would like to select a consecutive list of items (photo's) in 'view as icons' but I don't seem to be able to do that. It is possible in 'view as list/coloms' by selecting the first picture, press shift key, select last picture. But when I try to do this in 'view as icons' I can only select the first and the last picture. All the pictures in between are not selected. Am I doing something wrong? It is possible in windows iview icons by using the ctrl and shift keys, so I was wondering if it's also possible in mac.

They show up as a Info type message in Console. No real problem, just curious if anyone else is seeing that.
Wanted to get the file size for all the files in a folder. Common sense would lead someone to believe that if that have 40 things selected and you ask for the info on them, it would give you all the info in one thing (ie total size, file types etc) but 10.6 is just being stupid about it: are there any other ways (or patchs) to stop this from happening?
View 6 Replies View RelatedOK in Leopard I could always select a bunch of files, right click and get info, then change the permissions to Read and Write for Everyone and Leopard would apply it to all files selected. Now, when I try the same thing in Snow Leopard it actually opens the get info window for every individual file selected and I have to manually apply it to each one. Does anyone know how to go back to the old way?

I couldn't find any resolve from anyone on this topic in older forums, but I have the folder generated and backed up on my iMac and my backup drive, a DROBO. I managed to get rid of the lost+found items on the iMac, but the DROBO says "The operation can�t be completed because the item �dir_1558208� is in use." as well as the rest of the contents.

We have several hundred files that were converted recently to a different file format. The conversion process caused all the new files to have today's date but did not change the file names. I am looking for a way to pull the create/modify dates from the original files and apply them to the converted files so the new files will have their original dates. All of the original files had different dates, so I can't just apply a certain date to the converted files.

Has anyone else got this issue? You have a bunch of files you want to move to trash. You highlight them all, then right click, but "Move to trash" is missing from the menu.
If I highlight just one, the "move to trash" option is there. But disappears when multiple items are selected.
Anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix I can do to get "move to trash" for multiple selected items back?
While I'm really glad that Notes sync between the iPhone/iPod touch and Mail.app, I wasn't aware that they could get mixed in with each other. See the attached screenshot.

Is it just me, or is some of the icons such as Aperture, Nikon, Tweet, and Phone View in the Snow Leopard lighter vs the other icons in the Snow Leopard and all the icons in the Leopard screenshot? I edited these in Snow Leopard and Leopard and it seems the icons done in SL are lighter than the ones in Leopard. Am I seeing stuff or is it really lighter vs the others?
Please take a quick look at the attached screenshots.
One screenshot shows the contextual menu (Ctrl-click or Right-clik) of the selected png image file on my desktop.
The other screenshot shows the "services" menu (Finder—>Services) for the same file.
I believe that normally the two screenshots should show the exact same set of services available for that file. However, as you can see, the contextual menu is missing one service, namely the mail.app service that attaches the selected file to a new mail message.
How come? This is driving me crazy because the missing service is one I use regularly, and I hate having to dig into the menu structure to find it every time. Right-clicking is just so much faster.
Finder > File > Find (Cmd-F) brings up the Search window. How can I search for items in a specific folder? Tiger let me select a folder in which the search is performed. How can I, on Snow Leopard, select a folder in which the search is performed? What about Lion?
