I just installed Mac Office 2011 and am having trouble connecting my hotmail account to Outlook. I go to add my hotmail account and everything seems to work, but it does not show up on the left side under inbox or anything. When I go back into settings, it shows the hotmail as my default account, but I can't see any of my messages. Also, periodically alerts pop up in the bottom right hand corner showing "new" messages, however they are really, really old emails from my hotmail account.
I can click on the alert and read the old message, but I can't find where those messages are on Outlook. I have successfully added my gmail account and my home university's account. One other thing to mention, when I delete the hotmail acct and try to add it again, it always adds "On my computer" under the inbox section. This "inbox" keeps popping up with old old emails. So I go into preferences/general and hide it.
Outlook/hotmail have recently updated their security, i got sent and email and can now access it on my phone but the mail app on my mac cannot access my mail?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis may be purely coincidence but within the first 2-3 days of shifting over to outlook 2011, none of my emails sent to user@hotmail.com are going through. I get a system mail admin return e-mail saying unable to deliver for 4 hours. Basically saying hotmail.com is not responding. I have never had this problem on mac mail or outlook for the PC. Is this coincidence or does Outlook 2011 get the blame?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt says that it can't be deleted.I got this problem when I was downloading a photo with Google chrome, but that photo was downloaded successfully. Downloads window in chrome is now empty.

This is strange. All of a sudden I am unable to rename a Folder from untitled folder to anything. I can highlight it, but nothing happens when I try to type in a new title. I tried it on the Desktop and Finder. Any ideas? It would be prety hard to find anything if everything was in folders titled 'untitled'.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with my user account, and I need to start fresh with a new account. My plan is to create a new user account and transfer my documents and images (but not my preferences) from my current account to that one. However, once I've migrated the data, I'd like to rename the new home folder with the same name as the old one to prevent any broken links from applications that will be looking for files in my old account.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI recently had my 15" MacBook Pro serviced because of a hard drive failure. It required that the operating system (OSX 10.7.3) be reinstalled. The reinstall was handled by the Best Buy Geek Squad store where I originally purchased the Mac. They named my home folder using only my first name in lower case letters. I would prefer my full name like my previous install. DoI understand correctly that it is NOT possible to rename this folder? Would I have to reinstall Lion and wipe all the data to do this? Or is there a simple way to rename the folder.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have thousands of music projects with a somewhat fixed folder hierarchy and I'm trying to first rename and then extract (move) certain files from their original location.
Here is the most common example of the hierarchy: ProjectName/Info/Setups/fixed name file (either a pdf, txt or jpg)
My goal is to have these files renamed after their parent folders, all the way up to the Project Name and then have them moved to a set folder, out of this dull dictatorship I've created, so my files would end up with a name like this: ProjectName - Info - Setups - fixed name file

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have on tow differnt Mac' both running 10.8.6 and Office 2011.I get a message and I delete it from the inbox (POP accounts with my ISP, on my own domain), and next from the deleted items folder. so far so good, message (should be) gone forever. Now if I do a search (via the Mac find function) for the message it shows up as being in:/Users/e/ Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/Name of User/Data Records/Messages/ 0T/0B/0M/13K/x00_13558.olk14Message. The last item being the message.I can open it by double clicking and there it is in its full glory. If I do a search within Outlook it shows up but has no folder located to it, so I suppose it 'finds' it in the same folder where the Mac finds it.Using the find inside Outlook I can find them, delete them again and find them again, etc. Now, not only does this bloat the storage space needed (account now bloated to 1.5 Megabite), but it is also unpleasant (security) to know that they are still there. After all why otherwise delete anything?is this normal, and the second question is, how to set Outlook up that it removes these messages permanently? I had a thread about this in the MS Outlook forum but had no luck there.url...it be interesting to hear if any of you can recreate the problem, to exclude it being a unique problem on both my machines.
- Create new account in Outlook (same problem)
- Rebuild database
- Upgrade to latest Outlook version, followed by again

Is there any way to rename the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder? I've tried and it doesn't add them to iTunes if it's been renamed.
I know you can make an alias, but I want to put the folder in the Finder sidebar, and if you put an alias there it just puts the real folder there instead.
Only reason I ask is because it's got a really long name, and it looks out of place in the sidebar next to short name folders!
I have a new mailbox folder that has added itself to my Mac Mail. It does not exist on my server, only in Mac Mail and on my iPhone. I've attempted to delete it manually both while in Mac Mail and through the system library (~/Library/Mail/SmartMailboxes.plist) as I was told it could be a corrupted file. I have Mac-keeper but it is showing no viruses. How can I delete this thing?

I have tried go to Preferences-->Sidebar in Finder and deselect everything but the folder remains in my sidebar. I am unable to select/highlight the folder in Sidebar. I have tried to drag the folder into the trash or to my desktop, but nothing happened. I just remains in Sidebar. I have also tried to locate the folder anywhere on my computer/HD, but it's nowhere to be found.
