I had a problem sending mail. I tried several times to fix it, finally decided to delete the mailbox and start over. I try and try but the mailbox is still there stuck trying to get mail even though all the old mail is gone and no mail comes through.
Somehow, I now have two Yahoo accounts on my laptop (I think it happened when I updateed snow leopard a couple of months ago). This resulted in double messages to my iPhone, which put me over my data usage. When I tried to remove one of the yahoo accounts by "delete mailbox" on my laptop, the mailbox remained and the mail remained but the message contents in both Yahoo accounts were empty!
I have a Mailbox that I want to delete from Mail.app.
I can right click it, select delete. And it gives the warning. I select OK and it does nothing. I have tried it through the menu system too, and the same result.
Any idea how to delete the mailbox? The deal is I set it up to an email that I cannot access via POP and it is constantly trying to access it but can't, obviously.
I recently transferred all my data from a MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Air. I have an old Groupwise mailbox on my Pro which has been offline for over a year since my company switched from Groupwise to Outlook. After the Groupwise acct went offline the option to delete the mailbox has been greyed out. I'm trying to get this old mailbox off my Air now, after it transferred with everything else. How can I delete this old account?

During the last week or so I have received several emails form Microsoft exchange telling me that my mail box is almost full and to delete any unnecessary emails and empty my Deleted Items folder. I had about 14 pages of past emails and so I worked my way through them, deleted ones I did not need and then emptied my deleted file....thinking that this would solve my problem. I have since received more reminders, and interestingly the bar showing how much space I have left is unchanged! (491) even after dumping more emails! I now am down to about 9 pages in total and still I am receiving these messages. Should I be deleting files from somewhere else too?
Im trying to delete my hotmail inbox from Mail 5.2 on my Mac. I tried "delete mailbox" by right click and from the Mailbox menu. Also tried dragging the mailbox to trash and nothing.
I had no problems deleting the mailbox on my ipad and iphone ... its on my Mac that it will not disappear.
Suddenly in Mail I have a mailbox for Blocked Mail. This is on my iMac where I am running Maverick. I do not want to collect blocked mail; that's why I blocked it so I don't have to deal with it. How can I get rid of this mailbox or how do I stop blocked mail from accumulating.
I have bitdefender for mac and it has found tp pieces of mail in my saved mail boxes and it won't let me delete it. It says I don't have permission to delete or move this mail. I have reindexed the box but it did not work.

I have a problem with my mailbox. I have a Macbook and sometimes when I receive a large email, like more than 1 MB, I stop receiving emails. It seems as if my mailbox is blocked.
In the past, when this happened I would log on to my PC at home and it would download all the emails from my mailbox up to the last email I received on my macbook (the large one that caused the block) and then when I open my mail on my macbook again, I can receive emails again.
Unfortunately I don't have a PC at home anymore to use this method to unblock my mailbox. Does anyone have advice how I can unblock my mailbox on my macbook without having to open my mailbox on another computer?
I am running Mavericks 10.9.3 on my iMac and recently had to have the Genius Bar completely reset my system due to issues with performance since the upgrade. I was primarily using Backblaze to back up my entire operating system. I am now trying to restore "Mailboxes on My Mac"in Mail. I was able to get the actual names of mailboxes back via going to my library in the back up and moving all folders to my current library, however it only restored the mailboxes themselves. There are no emails that were but should have been included.
I am trying to rename a mailbox that is a sub-mailbox to another, both of which I originally created to store email messages. I can highlight the name and type a new one, or I can go to the Mailbox menu and select Rename Mailbox, then type the new name. In both cases I get the following error message:Mail was unable to rename "~/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes/AFS.mbox/EBO".

When I check multiple messages for deletion in my IMAP inbox on my iPad or iTouch, I get an instant screen message:"Unable to Move Messages. The messages could not be moved to the mailbox trash." The selected messages do disappear from the stack but what is this message trying to tell me?
If I try to delete hyperlinks from my Bookmarks, either with the Delete button or with mouse, all i get is the 'rainbow pinwheel' and 'not responding' message. never happened before.
I have tried to delete a few applications from my harddrive since upgrading to Snow Leopard. When I drag or send an app to the trash it immediately bounces back or reestablishes itself in the same location. I have noticed that a lot of the apps are locked in the Get Info pane. Unlocking makes no difference whether I can delete or not...even with an administrator password.
I have used my ipod to copy some files and folders from my Windows PC over to my mac. However, now when I go into my iPod and I want to delete it off the HD of my iPod, it asks for my password, the details say something about "com.apple.desktop", or something along those lines. I put in my password, it accepts the password. However, the folders and files on my ipod are not deleted after asking for my password. I try to delete again, and it does the same process all over again. Each time, not deleting these files and folders.
I downloaded this application for my iPhone which installed itself into my applications folder. Soon after I downloaded it I decided I didn't really want it and tried to delete it, but it kept on saying "Unable to delete" cause it was in use or something. I did look at some threads giving advice on this subject and tried some other ways of deleting it but nothing happened and the file name is now "deleteme.rtf.app". Whenever I try Terminal it says there isn't a file on the desktop and I've made 100% sure all the letters are the right spaces apart etc, so now I'm stuck.
I am pretty new at the whole iMac thing and the Mac OSX.. I need advice deleting applications and programs. I read somewhere that all you need to do is drag and drop the icon in the trash and it should be gone. Well I tried that with Bumptop and it didn't work. I liked the program a lot and I thought it looked cool but I don't have enough icons on my desktop to run it and make use of it. I dragged the icon to the trash but now I am stuck in Bumptop even with it in the trash?
So I had this Windows folder on an external HD that I tried to delete on my Mac. I've tried option+click to delete the trash, I tried secure empty trash and they didn't work. I also tried to unlock the folder but it just won't unlock.
I have a folder on my startup drive that will not delete. I can issue the command "rm -rf dir_7171197" as root, and the prompt comes back with no errors, but the folder is still there. My question is, what are the reasons a file is not able to be deleted? I can change the name of the folder but I can't move the folder into the parent, and I can't put it in a child folder. If I attempt to trash the parent, it just sits there in the trash can and never deletes. There are no additional attributes assigned to either the folder itself or the parent.
I made a garageband file(.band) and now when I try to delete it, it says "The item “Hey.band” can’t be moved to the Trash because it can’t be deleted." I have tried repairing disk permissions with disk utility.
A few days ago I got about a dozen emails that won't delete. When I try to delete them they stay in place, and the button changes to "undelete." how I can delete them?
