OS X V10.7 Lion :: Boot Camp 'installer Disc Could Not Be Found'
Mar 25, 2012
i'm attempting to load win7 onto my MAC. Thus far i have downloaded the .iso image off MSDN (throught my university, for all intents and purposes should be as legitimate as an off the shelf copy)Â and burned it to DVD as a bootable disc image. however for some reason when using Boot Camp im told "The installer disc could not be found".There is data on the disc however when i go into the disc via finder it appears empty (no icons)... even though it is not (get info > xyzMB used).

I'm trying to make an OS X Lion boot disc. A failed Windows 8 Bootcamp install killed my Mac, but luckily I had a Time Machine backup which was accessible via the Recovery Disk. However, I would still like to have a boot disc handy in case something like this happens again and the Recovery Disk is somehow corrupted.Â
I Googled(among other things) how to make one, and the instructions seem fairly simple. Only, I can't find a Mac OS X Lion Installer anywhere. When I bought my refurbished iMac from Apple, OS X Lion was already on it. Since I didn't download it from the App Store it seems I don't have the Lion Installer to make a boot disc... Anything I can do (besides wasting $30 to redownload Lion from the App Store for the file) ?

i'm a HUGE gamer, so the first thing I did once I loaded this new computer up was install my copy of Windows Vista on it using Boot Camp Assistant. The installation went completely smoothly, so I then proceeded to install the Boot Camp Drivers onto my new and fresh and clean Windows Installation.
I restarted the computer and everything seemed to be in working order...but there are two relatively MAJOR problems:
One, the one that is the most pressing, is the sound. When I started up after installing all of the boot camp drivers, I couldn't get a single audio device to get recognized by my Vista Home Premium installation. I tried disabling and re-disabling other drivers in the Device Manager, and when I try to download new drivers for the one audio device that has an error sign next to it, Vista claims that it is already updated to the latest drivers, so it will not install new ones. I even went onto cirrus' website to download their official drivers, and the same thing happened.

I've tried installing XP on my MBP using Bootcamp, but I guess the XP CD that I have is actually an upgrade CD and not the full system CD that I need for Bootcamp.
Now, I am definitely going to ask around to see if anyone I know has a XP CD, which shouldn't be a problem, but just on the off chance I can't find one(will ebay have em?) could I torrent XP and just burn it to a disc and then insert that when Bootcamp tells me to?

I'm having problems with a Boot Camp partition and XP Professional SP2.
I setup a 20GB partition on my drive (I'm using a MacBook Pro, 3GB, 120GB hard drive). It's the only partition other than the one I use for OS X.
I didn't have full-install SP2 discs, only an upgrade. So I went to Fry's and bought a legal, new OEM disc and license for XP Professional SP2, full-install. I ran the installer and all went well...until I rebooted. At that point, Windows wouldn't load giving me a non-system disc error.

I got my new Macbook today. I've reformatted and installed Snow Leopard. Then I set up Boot Camp and installed Windows 7. I installed all the drivers under Windows 7 using the Snow Leopard install disc. One problem that remains is under Windows 7, I can't tap the trackpad to click. I have to use a mouse.Anyone know of a fix? Can't find it under Apple Support at all.

nstall Windows XP SP3 on my macbook with a dual boot. I downloaded it from Windows, and have an iso file. I used the disc utility to burn it to a disc, but when I try to use it with Boot Camp, Boot camp does not recognize it as a bootable disc.

Boot camp went wrong because I had to reboot my macbook while windows 7 was being installed. After that, I deleted the 32gb windows partition. But guess what? Disk utility says that my free space is 468 gb, when before boot camp I had 493gb.

In retrospect, I should have ignored it when Apple Software Update told me about the Boot Camp 3.2 upgrade for my 2006 Mac Pro running x64 Win 7 ultimate. When I ran it, it overwrote my blue tooth driver and my keyboard stopped working. Thanks for the folks at Mac Rumors forums, I was able to go through the procedure to get it working again, and I also had to update the video driver (again) from ATI for my 3800.
So then I decide to reboot into MacOS and discover that my icon for selecting the boot disk was gone, not to mention any directory or programs in the start menu. This happen to anyone else? Do I have to downgrade to 3.1 or does anyone have a recommendation to get 3.2 working?

I want to install Windows XP on a Mac Pro using Boot Camp. However, the Windows XP install disc is old--from 2002. It does have Service Pack 1 on it. Two questions:
1. If I install from this disc, will Windows Update still give me the option to download Service Pack 2 & 3? I'm a little confused because I thought I heard somewhere that Microsoft no longer supports Service Pack 1--does that mean I can't update it or just that they won't offer technical support, etc? I know for sure I read you can't install SP3 without either SP1a or SP2 already installed. My install disc doesn't have SP1a.
2. Even if I can update it through Windows Update, I would rather not go through that process. I have read about slipstreaming and that sounds like a good way to go. The process to make one seems to require a Windows XP computer though and I only have access to a computer with Windows Vista at my employer (the old PC with XP at my house is so slow it would never work). I tried to use the program AutoStreamer but I couldn't get it to run on the Vista PC.

About two weeks ago, I lost my Utilities folder. I tried everything, then I tried to take the utilities off the disc that came with my MBP, but after about 30 seconds, the disc ejects, without doing anything. What should I do?

Computer: Macbook Pro 13 inch purchased Spring 2011 OS: Mac - Lion (10.7.3), Boot Camp - Windows 7 (64 bit) Utilizing an adaptor, I'm able to use my Samsung monitor without I problem when working in the Mac operating system. Unfortunatlely, when I switch to Windows 7 / Boot Camp partition, plugging in the Samsung makes both the external and laptop monitors go blank. I have spent hours researching this, but I have be unable to come up with solution. It seems like the problem might have something to do with the NVIDIA drivers.

So I accidentally saved the wrong files to my start up disc. It appears that mac is seeking direction and isn't getting it. All I get is the white screen with the spinning ball. Things I've tried already, 1. (Shift Key) Booting in Safe-Mode. result is: Mac starts to enter safe mode, the little power meter starts to build on the screen, after about 20 seconds the meter stops and the fan speed increases until it gets pretty loud. Eventually the fan speed mellows out, but it never actually boots up. 2. (Option key) This gives me a choice of two drives to choose from, MAC HD & Mac Recovery. I've tried clicking on both drives multiple times by themselves with no luck. I've tried clicking on them seperately and then went right into safe mode with no luck. 3. I've even tried downloading a recovery file from apple and put it on a disc. result: It reads the disc and the goes back to that wonderful white screen and spinning ball.

I ran disc utlity and it came across a lot of errors. But the one thing in common with all of them is that they all start with "ACL found but not expected on" and then it shows a bunch of applications.

I have an iMac and am running OS X 10.8.5. I am trying to re-install my HP desk jet software but when I put the disc in, it doesn't pop up on the desktop and I can't find it in Finder. There's nothing in Devices. I've looked at all the settings and cannot understand why it's so difficult to run the disc. In System Preferences > CDs & DVDs, I have tried both all options including open in Finder and "Ask what to do". Nothing happens.

I got a used MacBook Pro 2.53 GHz 17" (Mid-2010 - MC024LL/A - MacBookPro6,1 - A1297) running Lion only.Â
I want to put Snow Leopard on one of the partitions, because I still need to use Rosetta from time to time. The computer didn't come with any installer disks... "no problem," I thought, because I own a Snow Leopard installer DVD (which says "Version 10.6" on it).Â
But it won't boot from that DVD.  The Apple logo stayed on the screen for seven minutes before I gave up.Â
Is that because this computer requires a later version of Snow Leopard?Â
What are my options for getting Snow Leopard onto this thing?Â

I read a few old threads about this that said to check the disc permissions on disk utility and did all that. I read something else that said turn the computer off and turned it off and then on again but it didn't work. This is the first disc I have tried to burn since downloading mavericks. I haven't had any trouble before although I don't burn too many discs. I have an early 2009 iMac.

I have a 2-yr old MBP 3,1 (the first Santa Rosa line) which has recently hit a slew of problems (bad fan, new display, new hdd, new logic board) over the last 3 months. I thought all was fixed then yesterday it suddenly dies, starts kernel panicking on boot, and I can't even boot from an installer disk. I took it in to the Genius Bar today and the guy puts a stick of their RAM in and it seems to work +/- ok. He won't do any more until I put the original RAM back in (upgraded to 4 gigs a year ago). I take the laptop home, and it magically starts working. I grab a couple backups and it starts kernel panicking again so I grab my original RAM and put it in. Now it's still kernel panicking and I'm effectively completely locked out of my MacBook Pro (the RAM worked fine in my wife's 3-year-old MacBook which takes memory of the same specs).

So, yesterday I went to burn an audio cd in itunes. When I clicked burn I recieve a message that stated "Disc Burner or Software not found." I then went to About this mac in the toolbar and click "Disc Burning" and it states that there is no burning device found. Help would be appreciated, here are my specs
Mac mini C2D 1.6Ghz
2Gb Ram
OSX 10.4.11
I know its there(Combo CD burner/DVD reader drive.)
The other prob is that there is a disc stuck in the drive. I have tried all the various methods to eject the disc to no avail including rebooting and holding Cmd-Opt-O-F then typing eject cd but alas I "have no cd drive"

I was installing 10.6 on my MBP running 10.5.8. I had launched the installer and after about 20 mins of the installation, my MBP rebooted launching the CD installer window. I went ahead and started the install and selected my internal HD. It starts the install and then gave me an error "Can't install on this HD." I went ahead and quit the installer and tried to start up from the internal HD. It starts up with the apple logo and progress circle but then just shuts back down again. I'm able to boot back up using the 10.6 installer CD, then using Terminal, navigate to see all my user files.
I guess my question is what's the best way to grab all my files off the internal hd so I can do a clean install of 10.6? I tried setting my MBP as a Firewire disk to grab the files but when connecting it to another mac, no disk drive is recognized. I thought about just launching Terminal and copying the files onto an external drive. Just wondering if that's the best route? Is there still a way to boot up from my internal HD to move my user files?
