OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: View The ULR Of A Pdf Opened In Preview?

How do I view the ULR of a pdf I have opened in Preview? Â
When I google something and find a pdf I want, I open it in Preview. However, when I go to copy the URL of the document to use as a resource in my homework
Tried to turn off computer and it kept prompting me to force quite various applications. I have since restarted the computer but now am getting this error when trying to open Finder. I have looked through several discussions and unfortunately am not an apple expert so much of what I am reading is foreign to me.I have opened the Terminal and entered a prompt that made all of my desktop docs and finder visable, but as soon as I closed out the Terminal it all disappeared again. Can anyone point me in the right direction - step by step - to get Finder back up and running. To my knowledge all other applications seem to be working as normal.FYI I do have a few extermal items attached to the Mac. (1) extermanl hard drive for the Time Machine, and USB drive.
i just received a DVD with a video on it.When I put the DVD in the drive, I can see a folder with a "No Entry" sign at the lower right corner. When I double click on the folder, following message comes up:The folder DVD_RTAV can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents" Under Info, it does not show any size.Under Sharing and Permission, it says: You have no access. I enabled "Shared Folder" but nothing chanded. It does not even say, it is password protected, otherwise it would ask me for a password. How can I open that folder?Would there be any software able to read it>I have no idea, what the video file format is, because I can not read anything.I tried it on the Mac Pro and also on my MBP, so it can not be a drive problem.I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.8?
Info: Mac Pro 8 Core, Mac Book Pro 15.4, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Black Magic Extreme HD, 10 GB RAM, 4 TB HDD
Used to run Flip4Mac Pro Version 2.2.3.7 with Quicktime 7 Pro on Leopard.Upgraded to Snow Leopard and got the 'Quicktime must be installed on this machine...' messages. OK, fair enough. Known issue.
Installed the Snow Leopard compatible 2.3.0.11-BETA with Pro licence but now have lost the ability to trim movies once they are opened in the Quicktime X window. However, if I navigate and open with Quicktime 7 Pro I can trim them.
Can anyone explain I should expect to happening and/or if this a bug or what?
I left my macbook pro open for along period of time, I am not sure if its as gone to"power save" mode. But it was not in sleep mode. After I open it some of the letters in my mac book pro is not working anymore. Num lock is not working, plus sign is not working, number six is not workingletter "y" "m" "h" is not working too
I am a recent convert to the Mac. I have not found it an easy transition: not by any means. Absolutely love the iPhone and my iPad - but the MacBook Pro has been a huge disappointment. It is in serious danger of becoming nothing more than just a nice thing to look at. I am really struggling to get to grips with what are much more than just nuances over Windows. My latest problem concerns .pdf's opened in Preview.
I am sure that, initially, I had no problem with "saving a version" - now, all of a sudden it says that: "... could not be saved. You don't have permission." It tells me to find the document in Finder, and then look in "get info" - I do that. I have Read and Write permissions. I have unlocked the document, I have given "others" read/write permissions - I have tried everything, but still no joy.
Snow Leopard's Preview can no longer do a search for dollar amounts accurately. This worked just fine in Leopard, but no longer works in Snow Leopard. Go ahead and download a PDF of your most recent bank statement, or any PDF that has a bunch of dollar amounts in it. Then, do a find for one of the dollar amounts. For example, do a find for: 50.00
Preview will no longer find a match for 50.00... instead, it will find any instance of "50" or "00" in your entire PDF file. It uses the decimal point as some sort of a delimiter, and it makes Preview believe that you are doing 2 completely separate searches.
Whenever I try to open a file associated with Preview by double-clicking the file I get the following error message...
If I open Preview first and then open the same file from within Preview it works fine. I've tried going into Info for various filetypes and changing the "Open with:" value to change it to something else then change it back to Preview but that doesn't change the behavior. As you can see in the error message it says "Acorn created this file on August 27, 2014"... what that means. I tried deleting the Acorn app but get the same error message..

They show a blank space for all the accented vowels. If I open the same document with Safari, it's the same. But with Chrome, it works perfectly.Â
I assume there's a problem with fonts, but, nothing wrong with fontbook (checked duplicates for instance).Â
Last information : it looks ok within chrome on my Imac, but the issue comes back when I try to print from chrome app...the accents are gone on the sheet.Â

I opened a PDF to crop some parts of the file and there are two big issues: 1. I cannot crop multiple pages anymore. There just isn't that option in Inspector or anywhere else. I can only crop one page at a time. 2. Not only can I not crop more than one page at a time, but cropping doesn't actually delete the date. I can go to "View | PDF Display | Crop Box" and see what I just cropped!
Since I upgraded to Snow Leopard, I've been noticing that Preview does not display images. A box will open and the background will be there, but no picture. I can scan images, and the automatic preview image that pops up is blank. I can download images from the internet, and they will appear as icons on my desktop, but when I double click them I get an appropriately sized blank Preview box. I can save the image to a thumb drive and put it on my girlfriend's computer (we run identical iMacs, for reference), and it will appear on her computer, but she is using the Adobe suite.
Why is it that when you have a Word document, you cannot open it with Preview application, but if you pretend you are printing it, then you can preview it in Preview, - same Preview application. So why Preview cannot open the same Word document ?
I have a lot of multipage pdf's that I need to reduce in file size. They are scanned pdf's so no actual editable content.
If i select a page and 'save as' I can save to jpeg where I can reset the dpi of the page (currently 300dpi). This is Fine, but I need to do it to all the pages of the pdf. If I select all pages 'save as' will only save out one page and not all.
If I print and choose 'pdf to jpeg', It will save out all pages but I don't get the ability to reduce to dpi and the output jpgs are still huge. Is there a way to save to pages out in one go to jpeg where I can adjust the dpi setting?
I have tried using the reduce file size option, but the resulting pdf has lost too much quality and is unreadable. Once I have the reduced jpegs it's easy enough to reimport into preview and save as a pdf.Â
Since installing snow leopard I can no longer watch any videos on Hulu or any network.com sites. I have installed Peruin, update QT for snow leopard and updated to the latest flash player.....any suggestions. I "got info" on safari and told the application to open with rosetta. there were a number of other programs that I needed to do that for so I thought that would work...but nothing does!
Having an issue where Preview is crashing at the end of a Save As (hangs briefly when the progress bar is full, then crashes) -- happens pretty consistently. Running 10.6.1 (on top of a fresh 10.6 install), but happened in 10.6 as well, though perhaps not as often. Have plenty of memory.
One snippet of the crash report: Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000010 Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread I have a vague feeling that the issue might not be in Preview, per se, but in the OS.
I just got an imac and I saw that the preview function in the folders have changed a bit from Tiger. I was wondering how you can fast forward mp3's and movies in the small preview function?
I have a PDF that I scanned in myself and the first time I printed it it printed just the way it was supposed to. The next time I opened up the file in preview it looked normal on my screen but when I went to print it the output in the printer had the colors inverted. I have tried printing from preview and adobe acrobat and it printed the same the blacks came out white and the whites came out black. So I tried printing it from a windows computer and the file printed as it should, the colors were normal not inverted.
Is there a work around how can preview save a locked JPG file? PNG's can do a save as in preview even if is locked.Â
here is the error below.Â
the reason why i want to find out is because outlook saves their attachment files locked and if i open them in preview, i cannot do a save as on JPGs.Â
i have not tried any other image viewer to automatically open the attachments and save them. PNG attachements behave alright so why can't JPGs?
i am constantly having a problem when i try and print a smallish image with Preview /automatically/ checking the Scale to Fit Paper Size and when i /uncheck/ this by clicking in the "Scale" radio button it /automatically/ enters the percent scale factor that would be required if I wanted to scale to fit to paper (e.g. 184%). Since I /don't/ want this scale (I already unchecked this option) I MANUALLY enter "100" in this box and - well - it prints out scale to fit to paper size /anyway/. i am using the Print Selected Image but the Print option behaves in the same way. Also, Auto Rotate (which defaults to AutoRotate with no option - "bad Preview, bad") has no effect on this. i have taken to pulling down to four or nine images to a page in order to get my images printed smaller, even though they never print out at 100%.Â
There are following problems with two PDF Files. When I open the PDF with preview 5.0.3 in main window there is an other chapter as I have mark in the sidebar. There is allway a different of one chapter between mainwindow and sidebar.
This failure are in two PDFs.The PDFs are manuals of DEVONthink, not the help of DEVONthink. There is no problem when I open this PDFs with Acrobat Reader 9.5.0. Sidebar and main windwow the same chapter when I mark it in sidebar.Â
I use Mac OS X 10.6.8. Can someone give an explanation of this bug ?Â
I frequently use Preview to annotate PDFs and screen shots, and every time I add a text box annotation it is formatted to center the text in the box. Is there any way to change that so that text is aligned with the left side of the box?
You used to be able to drag and drop pages from one Preview document to another. That feature is not longer available. Is there anyway to combine PDF documents into one file now?
