Lately I'm having trouble downloading pdf files that are open in the Safari window. I'm using the latest versions of Safari Adobe Reader on an IMac OSX 10.6.8. I used to download them simply with "command s", now it says "the document ... cannot be exported".

Whenever go to a website and try to open a pdf file in safari, I just get a grey screen. No buttons, no text, nothing. Totally non functioning.

If there's a pdf file within a website, when I follow the link all I get is a blank, black screen. I have reloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader but that hasn't helped. I'm running 10.6.8 on an older Macbook Pro.

I used to use Preview to view PDF files but found the files didn't display properly, in particular the annotations, so I installed Adobe Reader & the files displayed properly. Lately though the files have changed & open in Safari through a plugin, which doesn't display properly & don't give the option to open in Adobe Reader. I have deleted Adobe Reader & re-installed, but it is a long process to get it to open in Adobe Reader. Â How do I disable the plugins & get PDF files to open directly in Adobe Reader?

Using Safari Version 5.1.7 (6534.57.2) on OS X 10.6.8 (Macbook Air) when I click a PDF link, it is downloaded and then I need to double click to open in Preview. However, if I use the nightly build of WebKit [URL] - currently Version 5.1.7 (6534.57.2, r121825)” it is opened in the same tab within the browser. I do not have Adobe Reader/Acrobat installed thus do not have the Adobe plugins in the "Internet Plugins" folder (system or user). Does the production build of Safari not have a built-in PDF viewer? Or maybe there is another reason...

I noticed that finder is not displaying all files when I look at folders with lots of files in "icon view" mode but they do show up in "list view" Same thing happened with the computer at work. I'm using OS X Leopard on both.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some reason Safari won't open PDFs. Not sure if I can download them but PDFs that are supposed to open with a script (for example, can't just open in a new tab) do not open. Nothing happens. It won't even auto download or anything.Just tried Chrome and it downloaded just fine off the same web page.
Can display PDFs just fine if going directly to PDF link, but it definitely doesn't open with script based ones
I used to be able to view TIFF files from the US patent office using Safari and Quicktime.. but it no longer works.. the QT logo comes up then disappears and the page is blank. OSX 10.7.3.. Safari 5.1.3.. QT 10.1.

Since installing snow leopard I can no longer watch any videos on Hulu or any network.com sites. I have installed Peruin, update QT for snow leopard and updated to the latest flash player.....any suggestions. I "got info" on safari and told the application to open with rosetta. there were a number of other programs that I needed to do that for so I thought that would work...but nothing does!

When I attempt to access Street View under Snow Leopard (by dragging the little "person" icon to a street), instead of getting a photo of the street, I get a black screen. No photo at all. If I then click Street View's full screen icon, I finally get a photo but the navigation bars are no longer overlaid on the screen. And you can't "grab" the photo with the mouse pointer to change your perspective view (can't look up, down or to either side). Further, the navigation icons in the upper left corner don't work either. You're simply stuck with the single view photo that comes up at first.
I had already installed the latest Flash version (10.0.32.18) before I ever tired Street View. Maybe that's the problem? Snow Leopard shipped with an older version of Flash (10.0.23.1) and maybe Apple did that for a reason? I had also already installed Apple's most recent update for JAVA before trying Street View. On Apple's support forum and Google's help forum, I've found about 5 other people that are reporting the problem too. One guy said he was having the same problem and then it magically went away on its own? But I'm sure 99.9% of the folks that have already installed Snow Leopard simply haven't gone to try Street View yet. I bet it's broken for a LOT of people.

I have an older MBP (2.2Ghz, 2GB RAM, 120GB HD) and am having problems with PDF files. Well, I guess it would be better described as annoyances with PDF files. I use Adobe Reader and the lag when scrolling is unbearable. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Can anyone suggest alternate programs that may remedy my problem.

Apple, you broked it AGAIN!! You're getting tired of hearing this but Fix The ********** Finder!!!
When I set a view option and then click "Use as default" it doesn't apply to all the folders throughout the system. This worked every time in Leopard like Billy D. Williams' Colt .45, and now? BROKED!
Come on Apple! You do a great job at making things work, such so that we have to bring ourselves to THIS! Batching about so little an issue as not applying my pretty background color to all my windows! If you're going to break something at least break something worth fixing!
Anybody heard of a fix for this?
I've tried Software update and am currently googling around to try and find a fix. but so far all I have been able to do is take a screen shot showing the error I get when I try to launch safari.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed Snow Leopard on my iMac and have experienced an ethernet problem with Safari, Firefox, Mail and Thunderbird; these applications work for about 1 hr. and then the applications will lose the ethernet connection even though System Preferences/Network shows that ethernet is connected. However, Skype works (no connection loss) while the aforementioned applications have lost their connections. This problem keeps recurring intermittently (approx every 1hr.
As a work-around to the problem, I go into System Preferences/Network/Configure IPv4: choose OFF in the drop-down, click on APPLY. Then in the same drop-down, select "Using DHCP", click on APPLY and wait for an IP Address to be reassigned. After this procedure, the applications that lost the ethernet connection will start functioning again. I am using a Linksys Router, DHCP with a 1 giga-bit connection, CAT5.
I downloaded the latest Safari version and when I try to install it on Snow Leopard, I get a message saying that I must have OSx 10.5.8 or later. I'm confused because I have 10.6 installed.
