May 8, 2012IF I only have 1 Mac with data and setting that I do not want to loose, can I use a hard drive to migrate too data and setting until my Mac is for matted and ready to be re-loaded ? Whats the closest migration benefits I could get having 1 mac?

May 19, 2012My intel iMac hard drive crashed. I had it backed up with Carbon Copy Cloner. The technician who fixed the hard drive put SL on the new hard drive. I tried to restore with CCC first but it didn't restore anything. I used Migration Assistant and it asked about duplicate user names so I gave it a new name to be safe. I now have all my apps but no files. I used MA again and decided to use the same user name this time. I ended up with 2 accounts with the same name but no files. I was hoping to end up with the same computer (e.g. same desktop, all files in the same folders as before, iPhoto, iCal, Address Book, Dashboard etc. all organized and acting the same way as before). Every looking and acting the same way with the exception of the subtle changes brought about by SL.

Jul 3, 2012I recently purchaed a Macbok Pro 15" the disk has only 3 user accounts Guest and 2 personal accounts. I have a SuperDuper backup of the Macbook Pro 17" disk and would like to restore the Users folder. However, Migration Assistant complaints all the accounts exists on the new computer! There are no accounts on the new computer with the same name. I rename the accounts but Migration Assistant complains those accounts exists. Migration Assistant restored Applications, computer settings and other folder. The option to replace the account is greyed and cannot be selected and renaming is not working. Â

Mar 13, 2012I had an Imac running Snow Leopard... I mistakenly(?) thought i could change Permissions by selecting "Everyone" from the startup volume HD icon's Permissions panel and in turn, chose "Apply to All Enclosed Files and Folders" option thinking this would allow all other computers on a small office network to have total free and clear no-security-required, file-sharing read/write- access to this Imac's contents. After doing this and attempting reboot, I couldn't get access to the OS at all even after i ran DiskWarrior and DiskUtilities, so, wound up doing Archive/Install - but used an OS 10.5 disk because i (mistakenly)thought that my 10.6 Snow Leopard disk was only an Updater. So after installing 10.5 again I ran the OS 10.63 disk's installer, bringing the new System Folder up to Snow Leopard. I'm up and running - most system software updates downloaded/done. Problem is now this -- stuff like: Email Clients, Itunes, Browsers, any Apps that had associated data/content files isn't recognizing the old, original contents that belonged to them - instead, these apps all

Dec 27, 2009I received the Snow Leopard upgrade disc, single license for Christmas. I Installed the software, and i noticed my icons were changed for the finder and dashboard. I couldn't use my candy bar anymore since the free trial was done, so i decided to download and try liteicon. I changed the icons back and deleted the application. Now My computer when i try to download the updates for snow leopard upon restart it wont boot past the grey screen with the apple logo and the loading gear. The only way i can restart or turn the computer on after being shut down is by booting on the disc and reinstalling the snow leopard again. What the heck can be wrong here?

Mar 31, 2012I was one of the unlucky ones to get this Trojan bug so decided to erase my disk and reload the system. In doing so, I did a lot of dragging from the backup to the new system not knowing how to restore and I did not want to bring this bug with the restore. So, here are my issues so far I am unable to resolve. Â
Address Book and Calendar are empty and I am unable to find the back up files to re-load them.Â

copy files with the same word (BEFORE THE FIRST UNDERSCORE) to their corresponding folder name I then can use Media Rage to select the certain folder and and change the artist name all at once. and I would like it to do that with every file at one time.Â
