Will this work from a Canon ZR85?

Have just finished movie on MacAir with material from camcorder's hard drive. No problem in transferring material from the brand new camera. I have older digital material recorded on tape cassettes by Sony videocam which I would like to re-work with iMovie11. The iMovi11 manual says transfer to the Air requires a FireWire connection. I still have the older digital camera and the cables that came with it but neither the Air nor my Toshiba laptop have FireWire ports. Any thoughts on how to effect a transfer?

I have: FCP X 10.1.3
Hi 8 tapes and camera
VHS and SVHS tapes and camera
JVC GY-DV5000U camera and mini DV tapesÂ
Firewire cable
Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire AdapterÂ
These tapes and cameras are unsupported in FCP X 10.1.3.Â
How can I capture (import) the video tape segments onto my Mac OS X version 10.9.4 so that I can edit the video in FCP? Are there special procedures or products that are needed?Â
Info:
iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
The audio and video are out of sync after importing to FCP 10.1 from my mini DV tape source. The audio and video are in sync coming out of the tape deck but they are out of sync by over a second in FCP. How to correct this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an eMac and it is the first mac that i've ever owned so I am not completely familier yet on what to do to make everything work. My problem - I have a digital camera that has the ability to take video. When I plug the camera into the computer iPhoto recognizes the pictures but neither iPhoto or iMovie recognize the video. It there a way to make this work so I can upload the videos to my computer? I know the videos can be moved to computers for I have done it on my pc.

I need to upload a video for a school project.

Is it possible that this camera is no more supported? I tried to look for new drivers, but drivers are available only up to MacOSX 10.5. Is there anything I can do? (camera is HP Photosmart R818)

why does my digial camera not show up in Finder? (camera is Nikon D7000)Â
there are situtions when you don't want to download photos, sometimes I'm just doing tests, and want to see photos in the camera instead of downloading them first.. ( at any rate this should be my choice to make, not Apple's....;-)
and: I want to see the camera in the FINDER (not iPhoto or any other program where you have to "import" the photos.. I don't like those programs and never use them..)Â
it doesn't even show up in Adobe Bridge, for pete's sake.. this is ABSURD..
but on the pc you see it right away in Windows Explorer... no reason whatsoever why the mac shouldn't do this also...
After installing Snow Leopard on both of my computers, I have found that while the computers recognize my digital camera it will not allow me to import photos into i-photo and eventually you have to just force quit i-photo to get out of it.

The photos appear (I can see all the photos and files) but I am unable to transfer them or even open them and get information off. I think that this is because the pictures are saved on the Kodak camera's internal memory. What can I do to get around this problem?

I have a dual monitor setup on my mac pro. I didn't like having my second monitor on when I was running games, so I installed SwitchResX, which allows me to deactivate my second monitor. Does anyone know if this frees up video memory for the game?
I emailed the creator of the program, and asked him if he knew if this would free up video ram for my other programs, but he did not know. He said that this would release the frame buffer, but wasn't sure if this meant that all of the card's video ram was released to handle the one monitor. I am skeptical that it does, because the system profiler still sees the second monitor, and says that it is online.
On my previous hard drive with an earlier Mac OS, I had found apps that allowed me to download a variety of videos in nearly all formats -- .wmv, .mpg, .flv and more. With a new hard drive and SnowLeopard, most will not download. I don't recall what I used before

Where in Leopard 10.6.8 can I see running processes, or something interfering with iSight camera being engaged in Skype video call? I have theory that some other process in my Mac is trying to use camera and that freezes existing video. My theory has a problem since on my other iMac video never starts. Spinning white wheel is there forever, for duration of conversation.Â

I'm looking at getting a system that will fly through digital imaging, both stills and HD video. I don't do much gaming, and frankly, with the exception of my photo hobby/passion, a iPad would have enough processor power. I've looked at the MacPros as well as the Macbook Pros and Imacs. For my imaging needs, the laptop, while nice to have portable power, doesn't have the display I need/want.
I've been seriously considering an iMac 27" with the i7 processor, probably 8gb ram (considered 16, but might be overkill) and 2tb hd. I WISH I could get one with a large SSD, but I guess not an option yet.
My other consideration was MacPro, this gives me lots of bells and whistles, and I'm thinking probably overkill (I tend to do that sometimes), although speed is unmatched, for all practical purposes.
My question is, would the iMac as described be sufficient for my needs or be overkill. Budget is liberal (within reason) but I know that I'm upgrading from my photoshop CS4 (PC edition) to CS5 mac version, lightroom, as well as getting new network setup for house and 13"macbookpro for daughter.
So my brother and I just upgraded to SL and we decided to do a video chat to check out the new quality. The quality is nice the only problem is... there is no sound! If I initiate the video chat, he can hear me, but I can't hear him. If he initiates it, the opposite happens. Anyone else try iChat yet between 2 SL computers and have the same problem?
View 23 Replies View RelatedUsing a mid-2009 15" MBP, 3.06 GHz. iChat has been using significantly more CPU during a video chat than before the upgrade. Anyone else seeing this? I'm currently using the 9400M and not the 9600GT, but I don't think it would have any effect on this. Specifically, it uses about 100% (out of 200). Screen shot of the activity monitor is attached.
I do notice, however, that during the video chat, it is not using the iChat process AND the vcencoder process that is also used in leopard. It just uses the iChat process. I still don't think it should be using so much CPU to video chat.

All of a sudden I am getting choppy video playback on web content from any site using any browser. I have searched and searched every online forum I can find. The problem most say is old machines that are not Intel proccessors. Another problem described is RAM. And another is the Flash player plug-in. I have a 2008/9 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1gHz MacBook, with 4Gb RAM! And over 20Gb of space left on my 320Gb hard drive. I do not see why there would be any hardware problems here. I have also uninstalled the Flash plug-in, properly and completely. I have reinstalled it too and according to the Adobe website it is running properly. I also use MacKeeper and everything according to that is running efficiently. The last time I completely reformatted my HDD was less than a year ago. My battery is old, but it still manages to last for about 3 hours, so I'm guessing that's not packed up just yet either. why my web video is still choppy? The sound for a video plays out just fine, but the video freezes and then starts up again a few seconds later. Some browser it's better on one day and worse the next. The same is true for different websites. But it is almost never smooth.

But she doesn't edit video, watch movies, play games on her Mac. And her CS3 work seems not too heavy, since it still works well on a 6-year old dual G5 system.
