I've never had problems with this digital camera under Leopard, but now under Snow Leopard, when plugged in, iPhoto is opened but nothing happens at all. Nothing in finder. Is it possible that this camera is no more supported? I tried to look for new drivers, but drivers are available only up to MacOSX 10.5. Is there anything I can do? (camera is HP Photosmart R818)

there are situtions when you don't want to download photos, sometimes I'm just doing tests, and want to see photos in the camera instead of downloading them first.. ( at any rate this should be my choice to make, not Apple's....;-)
and: I want to see the camera in the FINDER (not iPhoto or any other program where you have to "import" the photos.. I don't like those programs and never use them..)Â
it doesn't even show up in Adobe Bridge, for pete's sake.. this is ABSURD..
but on the pc you see it right away in Windows Explorer... no reason whatsoever why the mac shouldn't do this also...
After installing Snow Leopard on both of my computers, I have found that while the computers recognize my digital camera it will not allow me to import photos into i-photo and eventually you have to just force quit i-photo to get out of it.

I have the latest and greatest Mac Mini. 2.26 with 4 g of ram. I update to Snow Leopard, and now it will not recognize that it has Digital Audio Output via a mini to a Toslink connection. Heck. I am running it through a Classe' Processor with B&W 804s Speakers and it previously worked with the previous Leopard.
View 22 Replies View RelatedI have a Western Digital 2 TB MyBook Studio II external drive that has been working fine. Now, it will not show on my desktop when it mounts. It does show in the sidebar and I can access the drive and files there, but I want the icon to show on the desktop. I connect it to my machine via an onboard Firewire 800 port, and the drive is the only device using that port. I have another Western Digital MyBook drive that mounts just fine (it is my Time Machine backup) via USB. I have 2 La Cie Firewire drives, and 2 OWC Firewire 400 drives, all 4 of which mount using a Firewire 400 hub that connects to a Firewire 400 port on my MacBook Pro.Â
I have repaired the disk (reports nothing is wrong), but I feel I have some setting for the drive in the wrong position. I just can't figure out what to do.Â

I hate to start the subject of this post so negative but Snow Leopard is really disappointing. I have had nothing but problems since I've installed it. My computer runs a million times slower, Firefox takes forever to load pages that once loaded in a snap. My digital camera doesn't sync anymore.

At first I thought it was no big deal because most (real) cameras don't need special software but just behave pretty much like an external drive.

I have no SD card drive, I just have a Canon Powershot camera that uses an SD card for storage and connects to the computer via USB, so I was wondering, is there any technique or program out there that would allow me to load files from the computer onto the SD card through the camera's USB? Or are those typically locked as a one way street?

I'm an illustrator, and I have enough need for photos of myself and various objects that I have a Nikon digital camera permanently mounted on a tripod in my studio. Is it possible to use Photo Booth as a viewfinder, so that I can see the camera's-eye-view of whatever I'm shooting? I know that literally, it can be done, because I currently use Photo Booth to shoot micro photos from a Celestron USB digital microscope. So why not input from a Nikon? Can it be done? If so, how?

QuickTime X Screen Recording
Readers are free to navigate the thread on their own, though AppleInsider has extracted a handful images showing off some features that have received limited coverage in the past or haven't been represented fully in imagery, such as the recently-reported screen recording options due to arrive as part of QuickTime X Player 1.0. On my Mac running Leopard 10.5, Image Capture has Preferences that allow me to choose an option that opens Image Capture when a USB digital camera is attached. That's gone on my new Mac with Snow Leopard. I never needed camera software to make this work, and unfortunately I have a Canon camera and Canon does not make drivers or software for Snow Leopard. So, how does one get Image Capture to open and download images from a digital camera? Did Apple dumb-down Image Capture like they did to iMovie?

The photos appear (I can see all the photos and files) but I am unable to transfer them or even open them and get information off. I think that this is because the pictures are saved on the Kodak camera's internal memory. What can I do to get around this problem?

As a recent switcher, it would have taken me a second to select the pics, right click, and rename them all in one batch. I was using Adobe's lightroom wich is really nice (free trial) and found it was going to be my picassa replacement (man do i miss that program) and I found that I need a plug in called bridge which only comes with photoshop which I dont have for mac.
