I'm converting analog video from a camcorder and vhs player through the elgato converter to a macbook pro 2011. I then have to convert the files to apple pro res LT using mpeg streamclip before they are compatible with FCP7. What converter box will output the video to a format that is FCP7 friendly? Not sure if the canopus units are what will do the trick.

I have a MacBook Pro 15" - Model A1226 (Santa Rosa, circa 2007). I need to replace my right fan. AppleCare just expired (of course). But replacing the fan should be pretty easy, I think.
The only question is about the tape securing the fan to the heatsink. On the old fan it looks like electrical tape, but on the "sticky" side, it looks like there is a bit of copper (?) in the middle.
So my assumption is that regular old electrical tape is not appropriate, but some special kind of electrical tape. What type of tape is that?
Have just finished movie on MacAir with material from camcorder's hard drive. No problem in transferring material from the brand new camera. I have older digital material recorded on tape cassettes by Sony videocam which I would like to re-work with iMovie11. The iMovi11 manual says transfer to the Air requires a FireWire connection. I still have the older digital camera and the cables that came with it but neither the Air nor my Toshiba laptop have FireWire ports. Any thoughts on how to effect a transfer?

VHS and SVHS tapes and camera
JVC GY-DV5000U camera and mini DV tapes
Firewire cable
Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter
These tapes and cameras are unsupported in FCP X 10.1.3.
How can I capture (import) the video tape segments onto my Mac OS X version 10.9.4 so that I can edit the video in FCP? Are there special procedures or products that are needed?

So recently my iMovie started acting up and when I try to edit a video is crashes and sends me an error report. I have tried opening it several times this weekend, this is bad news since I run a YouTube channel and iMovie is where I do my video editing.

The audio and video are out of sync after importing to FCP 10.1 from my mini DV tape source. The audio and video are in sync coming out of the tape deck but they are out of sync by over a second in FCP. How to correct this?

Finding an effective way to transfer old VHS videos to my Mac with Yosemite so that I can burn them to DVDs. These are so important to me as they include videos of my three children from birth until the age of DVDs. There is NOTHING out there that I can find that will work. The "Debut" program available online for free does not clarify whether it will work with a Mac or with Yosemite.

What I'm doing: I have a S-video cable connected from the VCR to my mac with the proper adaptors to make it work as well as the audio cables. when I connect it all up and play the VHS, nothing happens. So I've read a few sources about the internet that have told me I can do this so I went out and got the adaptor for S-video for mac but when I plug it into my mac, it doesn't recognize anything is plugged in.
Will this work at all or do I have to go the capture card/camcorder route?Does my computer not recognize the signal because it's analog? The VHS player I'm using doubles as a DVD player so is it possible to change that without extra parts if that is in fact my problem? Is there any sort of program I can download (preferably freeware) that will recognize the signal from the VHS player or something that can be downloaded for imovie that will do the same thing?

View 17 Replies View RelatedI was using iMovie 08 to upload a video to youtube, normally they are really clear when i do a straight upload, but I wanted to put scrolling credits this time, so i put them in, then uploaded to youtube, medium size, and the quality is terrible. Why is that? The resolution was the default not 1920 x 1080
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed iLife 09, and just recently tried iMovie 09 for the first time. Pulled some videos off of my Flip and dragged them into iMovie as I did with the Flip videos and iMovie 08. It looks like it imports them fine, but then in the preview panel it says "No Matching Video, choose a different option from the Show pop-up menu at the lower left corner". So i made sure that THAT menu says "All Clips" but still nothing is showing up.
I tried using quicktime pro to convert the avi files to mov files and still nothing is showing up. I dont know what I could be doing wrong but this is awful! I was so excited to have the new BETTER iMovie and I can't even use it for the only thing I want to use it for.
I have iMovie 08 on my Mac, and it is the most confusing piece of software I have come across in sometime now.
I am wondering if there is any way possible in downloading iMovie 06 for free? I have tried for an hour and still no luck in downloading, all I can download is updates. so if anyone knows a download link to iMovie 06 . Also, I have a Sony cam corder what records in .wmv format, iMovie doesn't like this, anyway I can download some 'updates' so that I can edit and render videos in iMovie instead of booting up Windows.
I read through the information provided by iMovie, and searched around on Google, but I'm not getting anywhere. I have iMovie '08, and have never used it until today. I tried to import some videos (Mp4) that I have on my computer in order to edit them. I imported them, selected the project to import them to, where to save, etc. Pressed import. iMovie said it was importing the video and then uploading thumbs or whatever. After that, nothing. Nothing shows up in iMovie, and I don't know how to access the video clips, or how to make them transfer successfully. Am I doing anything wrong?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to know if there is way to take Video TS files and convert them straight into a .DV file so they can be edited in iMovie.
My situation is that I use a program like Mac the Ripper to extract a DVD into the Audio and Video TS folders. My step 2 is to use Handbrake to convert it to MPEG and then MPEG-Streamclip to convert it to .DV
The problem I am having is that while this process works, the final product video quality is slightly off. I know that the loss is either in Handbrake or the MPEG-Streamclip program. How can I go straight to DV, either through a program or straight from the DVD?
Recently I decided it'd be fun to put together a movie and while I've slowly been getting used to IMovie HD (first time using it 'properly'), I still haven't been able to "master" it yet. I was wondering whether it's possible to resize some of the clips I have? Some of the clips are different sizes and my intention is to publish the movie on something like YouTube or similar. I don't know if YouTube does this automatically? I don't remember it like that.
I don't want to have varying sizes of the clips when I send it to my friends, either, so. Can I resize the clips so they're all the same size? Can I do that in iMovie HD, or anything else on my Mac? Or do I have to download another piece of software to do this? Also, I'm not looking to spend any money on a professional editing program so please bear that in mind. The movies are in Quicktime MPEG-4 format if that's helpful.
I am editing my video clips and I want to be able to speed up some of the parts. But I don't see a way to do it. Do you have any idea how I can speed up the clips?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just got my first mac and I am really enjoying it so far. I am trying to import video files from the hard drive in to iMovie, the video clips were captured using a Panasonic lumix tz7. I think the format is AVCHD or m2ts? , and my Mac is a macbook pro 17inch i5. Is there something I could be doing wrong or some software that I needed when I purchased my computer (when I purchased it from the apple store the genius's said that format was compatible).
