OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Mail Has Begun To Reject The Passwords To Accounts?
Apr 2, 2012
Today MAIL has begun to reject passwords that had been accepted before. Attempts to change them fail. I use AOL as my primary email address.

1) Is there a way to make safari start a new tab when opening a link on the next tab you're watching instead of the last one?
2) When I read mails on my iPhone they don't "always" appear as read on the Mail app, is there a way to fix this? (Using Yahoo and Hotmail accounts)
3) And finally, is there a way to set a password just for when someone tries to log in remotely to my mac? I found that you could set one for start up or after going to sleep or screensaver but I don't want the password when someone enters physically to the mac but over the internet, can that be done?

I keep getting asked to insert my password for the three accounts I access via mail. I can't get the preferences to save the passwords and can't get the passwords working with the keychain. It seems that keychain isn't accepting passwords since I changed my system from mobile me to icloud. I still have Mac OS X. version 10.6.8. I wish that mobile me was still an option.

For some strange reason Leopard mail doesn't seem to want to save any of our passwords to any our accounts. We've gone into mail preferences and saved them there, but as soon as we close down mail it 'forgets' them again. We've also repaired the keychain, but the same thing happens. Anyone know of how to fix a password memory problem?

I have Snow Leopard on my new Mac. I transferred all the info from my old Mac. Unfortunately I transferred all my settings which means I have to give my password for any applications (Mail, Safari, etc.etc.) I use or whenever the computer goes to sleep or I switch applications. I can't find a way to stop this. I'm the only user of a computer here and no one else uses it. I don't mind doing it when I first go to the computer but don't want to keep giving my password whenever I do something.

I also have the boxed checked to remember my home wireless network and save the password. However, every time is tries to connect and the router is just out of range, it deletes the password and I need to re-enter it the next time I attempt to connect. This is very annoying, and I never had this problem in OS 10.5. I wonder how to force 10.6 to save the password, even when the connection fails due to the router being out of range. It's as though the connection fails and the OS thinks it's because the password is wrong, so it deletes it. I'm wondering how to tell it not to delete the password. I end up needing to type in my wireless password a dozen or so times a day, every time it looses the signal.

My mac mail continues to regect my correct password. I've done a new password and have checked all mail settings in mail preferences. Nothing seems to work. Iphone and icloud work fine... it's just my mac mail that doesn't sync with my computer itself. Soooo frustrating!!!
I keep getting: The MobileMe IMAP server “mail.me.com” rejected the password for user “xxx”

As an administrator (without FileVault protection) on Snow Leopard, I created a standard user account (test user1) with FileVault protection. I just want to get familiar with it before creating real accounts. But as an administrator I can't look at files created by test user1. I get a message that I don't have permission.
Do I need FileVault on for the administrator in order to do this? If not, as an administrator, why can't I see what's on other user is doing? Is there a way as an administrator I can see what's files are downloaded, created, websites visited, etc? I'm aware of creating a user account with Parental controls, but would that give me the ability to see what's in the folder?

I'm fairly new to Mac's and loving it so far and I'm very excited to be receiving my 27" iMac tomorrow and since this computer is going to be shared amongst my wife and myself. What is the best way on Mac's to handle 2 users?
The only concern I'm wondering about is email contacts, Internet bookmarks and possibly a few other small things.

I cannot access the Accounts pane from System Preferences. Each time I click on the icon, I get a message that says "system preferences has quit unexpectedly. I've already repaired the permission, deleted system preferences plist, installed the combo update and logged in as a different user. Everything else works just fine.

I have a SuperDuper backup of the Macbook Pro 17" disk and would like to restore the Users folder. However, Migration Assistant complaints all the accounts exists on the new computer! There are no accounts on the new computer with the same name. I rename the accounts but Migration Assistant complains those accounts exists. Migration Assistant restored Applications, computer settings and other folder. The option to replace the account is greyed and cannot be selected and renaming is not working.

Got a suspicious email wanting security updates on my bank accounts. Didn't use the link in the email & didn't knowingly download anything from the email. Went to another server & accessed my bank account to get an address to forward the email to. Went back to my mail & found that the suspected phishing email had vanished. My bank says I most likely got a virus from the email, thinks my account(s) has been compromised & advised me to scan my computer for malware before trying to go to my account again. My Software update shows I have the latest security, I never got a message advising me of suspicios sites or downloads. So how do I check for a virus or malware???

My first generation Mac Pro has been making a slow clicking noise (about 1 click per second) on startup or restart for the past 3 weeks or so. The clicking lasts for 2 or 3 minutes and I can't detect any problems with the computer, when I use it during the clicks. Optical Drives are empty. I replaced the secondary hard drive with a 1 TB drive about a year ago. The main hard drivce (500 GB) is still the original. I've run Tech Tools and the computer passed except for a few bad files.

I have a rule that copies an email to the ON MY MAC and then another that MOVES TO A FOLDER in Mobileme. They are in this order. The problem is when I quit Mail the Folder I am copying to is changed to the Mobileme folder so I end up with a duplicate. It doesn't change until Mail is quit. The other odd part, there one arragement like this that did savef at some point and works as expected.
I have tried having both of these rules combined into 1 and have the same results.
