workflow for handling multiple email accounts in Mac Mail? i am returning from Postbox (which seems to have had "Accounts" that I could organize these in) and I am not sure how to handle them in Mac Mail.
i have two websites with multiple email addresses and I have a gmail and a me.com address etc etc.
I am trying to manually setup my email accounts using mail app on my imac. Mail wont find my exchange account automatically and I want to add them manually. How do I deselect 'Automatically set up mail'? I do not see this option when I click "add account'?

View 7 Replies View RelatedGot a suspicious email wanting security updates on my bank accounts. Didn't use the link in the email & didn't knowingly download anything from the email. Went to another server & accessed my bank account to get an address to forward the email to. Went back to my mail & found that the suspected phishing email had vanished. My bank says I most likely got a virus from the email, thinks my account(s) has been compromised & advised me to scan my computer for malware before trying to go to my account again.My Software update shows I have the latest security, I never got a message advising me of suspicios sites or downloads. So how do I check for a virus or malware???Â

I know. I know. It's been done to death.
But it's such a shame that fonts are SUCH a pain in OSX (auto activation, system fonts, conflicts, etc etc)... and then Leopard's "updated" FontBook was no bueno.
So sad.
Since then I've been TRYING DESPERATELY to love FEX, and now Fusion2 (which is a tad better, i think?).
So the question begs:
Will SnowLeopard do anything to help with the OSX font madness?
I sent an e-mail thru mail in Snow Leopard using my MobileMe account to 3 addressees all in the "To" section. After I sent it I checked my sent messages and it only showed that it was sent to the first addressee on the list. Did I do something wrong? Should I have placed two of the addressees in the "CC" section? This is an important e-mail. How can I check to make certain that it went thru to all three recipients?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to be able to access several different email accounts at any particular moment in the day. I need to know when new mail comes in, I need to be able to reply from each account separately. Fairly straightforward really eh?
I dont particularly get on with Apple Mail. I find it crashes fairly frequently and really struggles when I am out and about using the mobile dongle.
Does anyonme know if when you have multiple mac products (i.e. I have an iPad, iPhone, Macbook and an iMac) and you have the same mail accounts set up on all of them if can set it that when you read an eamil on one device it appears as read on all the other devices? Annoying having to go through all 4 devices to "read" the emails.

Im having trouble getting 2 exchange accounts working using osx`s Mail app. When I install one account, it works fine. When i install 2, they both stop working.
They will both send but not recieve mail. Both accounts are on the same Exchange 2007 server.
I find it strange that Mail under iOS 4 works better than under OSX (10.6.4)
I'm new mac fan who has bought a macbook pro and thrown BG & MS out of my life, almost. The transition has been a little tough. I am finding some Mac things so easy. And other so hard. Apple Mail is giving me fits. In outlook express, I have 3 email accounts for various levels of privacy. All using verizon's outgoing mail server to send email. So, same username, pw & settings & outgoing Pop are the same on all 3 accounts. No problem in Outlook Express.
Mail says you cannot have the same username & pw& pop in 2 separate accounts whether it is outgoing or incoming pops/servers. On 2 accounts I have started using their own pop to send mail out. I still cannot get 1 account to email out. For 2 accounts I use onlymyemail to filter spam and then I download it from their incoming pop. So, these 2 accounts must have the same username and password and pop to download the filtered email. It seems like this whole thing is reversed. This should be a MS problem, and Mail should allow the same usname & pw on all accounts.
My issue was that my wife and I both have separate Gmail accounts, but when she would use the Mac Mail program on our MBP, when she would send emails, it showed her name, but came from my Gmail account, and when people would respond to her emails, they would come to my email address. The issue is that according to MacMail, you are using the same outgoing Gmail smtp server, so you need to differentiate the two.
Go to Mail > Preferences
In your accounts, click the drop down that has Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), and click "Edit SMTP Server List...". When that window comes up, you'll see two different entries for Gmail, with the same outbound SMTP. Click on them individually, and you'll see the different Gmail account credentials.
Change the description of each (I changed mine to my and my wife's names, to easily identify which SMTP went with which mail account) and ensure that your Gmail credentials are accurate. Click Ok. Now, under each of the Gmail accounts, change the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop down to match each of your Gmail accounts, and click the "Use only this server" box.

I'm looking at OS X Server as a possible email server upgrade from an OLD Linux box. On our current server we have aliases setup to archive all incoming and outgoing email to another account. That one account then checks email via POP and then it is archived on another client computer for record keeping and CYA. It looks like this:Â

I have some email addresses for various web addresses for my business web site and I just noticed that when sending an email to one of these, mac mail is showing my name in the To box. Does anyone know where this gets pulled from so I can change it? I am not seeing it in the preferences for some reason.

Maybe I'm a dumbass and missed something obvious, but in Leopard Mail, in the New Message window, there's a drop-down menu where you can choose which email to send the message from. But in Snow Leopard, the drop-down menu's not there, and I can't figure out how to choose which email address I want the message to be sent from. The only way I could do it is to click a message sent to that email address, then click New Message, the message will then send from that email address.
This update has totaled anything having to do with Safari, Mail starts and retrieves but I can't read mail. Anything that uses Safari browsing engine is screwed.

I have suddenly, since Friday 2 March, experienced very slow connection to one of my ISP's mailservers. Emails without attachments work ok'ish (a little "hesitantly"), emails with attachments of moderate sizes (eg. +/- 500 KB) download/upload extremely slowly and most of the time fail. I have asked my ISP, who are generally helpful, and they have tested the mailserver and can find nothing wrong. So, here we go: The problem is both for ethernet and wireless.The problem is for one account only. I have a different account with the same ISP, but on a different mailserver, which works absolutely fine.Two different Macs have the same problem. The other PCs with different ISP's accounts work fine.Router is working fine with good internet connection and email via one of the two accounts works fine.It is not a problem on my computer (since it is the same issue for two machines). Both run OSX 10.6.8I have tried both Entourage and Outlook on both machines; same problem everywhere - one account works, the other doesn't (properly).I have tried with my iPhone, using the same wireless connection and same account details, and it downloads emails with attachments speedily - emails that failed to download on the MBP/Outlook.I have tried one of the machines (a MacBook Pro) at home with a different wireless connection but to the same mailserver and it works fine there!This happened last Friday and no settings have been changed locally for months. My conclusion is (but may be wrong): The router is fineThe macs are fineThe email clients are fineGeneral connection to internet and mail is fineThe mailserver is probably fine But a connection between one mailserver account and the two macs has suddenly gone wrong. View 1 Replies View RelatedMail 4.5 started to get wonky a couple of days ago- taking forever to load. All of the the imap server began rejecting my password which had not changed for months. So I retyped it. Nothing. Quite mail and restarted mail. Nothing. Deleted the account, restarted & reloaded. Nothing. Restarted the machine. Launched Mail, nothing. Check for updates, nothing. Can login directly to iCloud and works fine on my iOS devices but nothing on good ole' mail. Â

I'm using Mail 4.5 on OS X 10.6.8 - I'm using a late-2008 aluminium unibody MacBook with a 250GB hard drive and I only have 4Gb of available space left. I'm trying to free up space on my hard disk and I downloaded Disk Inventory X to check what was taking up so much space - apart from my iPhoto library and Pictures folder which together account for about 125GB I see that the folder containing Mail messages is 42.8GB in size!Â
I'm assuming that this is because I've received a lot of photos via email but I've added the ones I wanted to my iPhoto library so I assume I no longer need the images that were emailed to me. Â
where I can find these email attachments so that I can delete them all at once - I'm hoping that I don't have to go through all my emails one by one to select and delete them individually?Â
