OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Cannot Find Last ITunes Playlist Before Restoring System

Apr 9, 2012

I had to restore my system due to the Trojan virus and seem to be up and running. The only problem I still have is not being able to restore my itunes to the last playlist. I keep getting the list I loaded in May of 2011 when I put this computer in service. Where I can find the list I had before dumping and reloading?

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Restoring System With Time Machine To A New Hard Drive Without DVD?

May 9, 2012

I changed my HD in my MacBook Pro to a bigger one and then wanted to Restore the System via Time Machine onto that new HD. Sadly I dont have the Snow Leopard DVD that was coming with the MacBook. Though I have another Snow Leopard DVD, that I purchased earlier for my older Mac. Now the Problem:When I try to Boot the Macbook Pro from the older Snow Leopard DVD it always freezes and says: "You have to restart your Macbook. Press the power button until it switches off and then press the button again". But iwill not boot from the DVD.Is there another possibility to Restore my System from my Time Machine Backup to the new HD?

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Excluding Folders From Time Machine And Restoring The System?

Jun 5, 2012

For my back up strategy I use chronosync to backup my movies and music to my time capsule so I can access them from any device. I still use Time Machine, but I then exclude those same folders as I don't need them twice.

Will I still be able to restore my system from my TM backup? If I had to restore my system but didn't use the backup ie a clean install, could I access folders within the backup from the new install?

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: System Installer Cannot Find Backup Volumes On TC

Mar 24, 2012

The disk on one of our iMacs has failed, so I am seeking to replace it with a new drive and then restore from the current Time Machine backups stored on our Time Capsule. My plan was to attach the replacement drive to the iMac via a USB enclosure, format it, and recover the volume and once that is complete, replace the disk. The problem however is that the OS X installer's Restore System From Backups option does not display the correct backup volume. The Select A Backup Source displays only "Data" on network "tc" under the list of backup volumes.

Clicking on Connect to Remote DIsk brings up the authentication dialog, and I enter the correct credentials, but the volume list does not change, and the Continue button remains grayed-out. The syslog data from the Time Capsule confirms successful afp connections, and df confirms that the Data volume is being mounted from the TC. We have three Macs running 10.6.8, all writing their Time Machine backups to a Time Capsule running 7.6.1. Each computer has its own Time Capsule login ID, and all Time Machine backups have been working properly (new backups are being created and can recover files).

Using the Finder to examine the volumes on the Time Capsule, I can see that each computer has an empty Data volume and another volume with the computer's name which contains the sparse bundle that Time Machine is writing to. It looks like the issue is that the Installer is only looking for the Data volume and not showing the other volumes. Is there a super secret keyboard sequence I need to issue to get it to show the other volumes?

ITunes For Mac :: Convert Playlist To AIFF And Then Find Files

Jun 23, 2014

I have a playlist of 28 songs that are various file types.  I would like to convert them to aiff.  I went to the playlist and selected all, right clicked and selected Create aiff version.  It made them but I have to search for each one and then put it in a new playlist.

Is there a way to make iTunes put them in one folder or a better way to gather them all to the new playlist then clicking on Music on the left and putting the title in the search box and dragging them one by one to the new playlist?

I have done several google searches and i keep getting various answers (which there are different ways but I just want to restore my iMac to factory setting) Would I use my leopard or tiger disk, and how would I go about doing a system restore? What I wanted to do was do a system restore on my mac and upgrade to Snow Leopard. There are alot of scattered unimportant photos, movies, and games on my mac and it feels like a system restore would save me alot of time.

OS X :: Snow Leopard And Restoring From TM Backup

Jul 15, 2009

When Snow Leopard comes out in september, I would like to completely reformat and install on the drive in my unibody macbook. I have a time capsule and would like to know whether or not someone can restore their mac from os x 10.5 to 10.6. Or my other option is to upgrade the os on my macbook and then back up the changed system files. Then I would restore from that backup, but I would rather just restore all of my non system files from my 10.5 backup.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Restoring Old Application That Somehow Got Lost

Mar 12, 2012

I had Yahoo Widgets on my desktop. It was a little separate dock from the main dock and when I clicked on the visible part a tray would slide out with all the little widgets. Unfortunately I clicked "close" and the little dock disappeared. The application was still there in Applications but when I clicked on it, the little dock did not appear.

So I downloaded Yahoo Widgets again - it was called "Gallery" but even though an application called "Yahoo Widgets" appears in the Applications list, when I click on it, nothing happens. Unfortunately, Yahoo is ending support for this Widget Engine and I think the download has been deleted from their site. So I am thinking of restoring the widget from a backup that I made of the Mac HD but even though I have the hard disk attached to my computer.

I don't know how to find and restore the files for this application to make the little separate Yahoo Widget dashboard or dock appear on my desktop again. I have checked start "Yahoo Widgets" in System preferences under user and starting items. I really don't know what to do after this step but would really like to have this Yahoo widget dock again on my desktop because it was very useful.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Creating And Restoring A Single Partition

Jun 30, 2012

I frequently have to repartition my drive and reinstall OS X (mainly because I work with multiple OSes that keep changing). In order to simplify the process, I'd like to create a disk image of my system partition that I can simply restore after repartitioning. However, is that even going to work if the new partition (the destination partition) has a different size and is at a different place? What about the boot sector? Will I be able to boot from the restored image?

MacBook :: Restoring Time Machine Backup From Snow Leopard

Aug 11, 2010

My Macbook has not been running very stable and I decided to restore from a backup via Time Machine. My problem is my install disks are Leopard (10.5) and my backups are from Snow Leopard (10.6). I installed Snow Leopard from an Upgrade disk which I don't still have.

I have no luck restoring the Snow Leopard backups. My question is, how would I recover these backups without the Snow Leopard install disk? Is it possible or do I need to do a fresh install, upgrade then enter time machine via the OS itself?

OS X :: Where To Find HDD Icons In Snow Leopard

Nov 17, 2010

One of the side benefits of getting my new iMac is that I get to see how a system looks when it's brand new, before I've messed with it.

When I set up Time Machine on my iMac I notice that the HD icon used looks pretty cool with a circular arrow on top. I didn't download it from some web site, it came that way. Over on my MacBook Pro the Time Machine HD icon is just white. I have no idea how it got that way.

My question is how do I get my MacBook Pro's Time Machine HD icon to look like the one on my iMac? Is there some hidden cache of icons on my system?
