One of my email accounts (a MS exchange account) suddently went offline and hasn't come back online for days! I have the exclamation point in the triangle next to the ghosted name of my account. I've tried multiple times to go back online w/o success Connection doctor was not helpful
-I can still connect directly to the MS exchange account on the internet
-My other accounts (e.g. gmail) still go online

Just purchased the imac. how I can permantley keep my email accounts online. It is so frustrating, when the computer keeps asking for my passwords

I don't understand that function in MAIL about Take Online and Take Offline. Just what is this thing for? In Online Status in the Mailbox menu, it shows my mailboxes and their status. Is this a way of NOT checing mail for certain boxes? If they are all set to Go Online then I assume all mailboxes get check when pressing command/shift/N, correct?
Is there a reason some of them would go offline on their own?
I use apple mail to connect to multiple accounts. One of them went offline on Friday and refuses to come back on. The account is fully functional, because it's still working fine on iPhone, iPad and through Outlook 2011. It's like once apple mail decides an account is offline, that's it.

I use Mail, and have two accounts - one is POP and one IMAP. The one I use most is a gmail IMAP account. I've been sending and receiving e-mails all day, but suddenly both accounts are offline. Mail asks me repeatedly for the password, but when I put it in it doesn't accept it. I went online to gmail and find that the sign on and password still work and can see my mail there, but I want to get it in my computer.

I've just added the macbook pros that were recently purchased, (NOT retina Displays) boo i know.. THey are in AD able to place them and moved them around into different groups. I'm able to sign in when i'm on the network. WHEN I'M OFF THE NETWORK IT DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO SIGN IN. In windows it builds a profile for you so i checked that it does create a profile folder under users but still not able to sign in (locally)? not really locally?

When I try to check mail sometimes my email accounts (I have 4) are taken offline for no apparent reason. When I try to "Take Account Online" I am unable to do so and need to reboot my computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with the mail app on a late 2010 MacBook Air. Specifically, all accounts are offline after resuming from sleep. I am running apple mail (7.3), and OS X 10.9.3. Once the network reconnects, only the mail app remains a problem.
my having messed around with the DNS configuration in order to try an app called Blockless and/or having upgraded to OS X 10.9.3. I have four mail accounts, all but one of which are Gmail IMAP accounts (the 4th runs from Bluehost mail, and is also an IMAP account). I currently have the DNS set at the default number, but might try going back to 8.8.8.8. Mail works fine on my several iOS devices.
workflow for handling multiple email accounts in Mac Mail? i am returning from Postbox (which seems to have had "Accounts" that I could organize these in) and I am not sure how to handle them in Mac Mail.
i have two websites with multiple email addresses and I have a gmail and a me.com address etc etc.
I am trying to manually setup my email accounts using mail app on my imac. Mail wont find my exchange account automatically and I want to add them manually. How do I deselect 'Automatically set up mail'? I do not see this option when I click "add account'?

Got a suspicious email wanting security updates on my bank accounts. Didn't use the link in the email & didn't knowingly download anything from the email. Went to another server & accessed my bank account to get an address to forward the email to. Went back to my mail & found that the suspected phishing email had vanished. My bank says I most likely got a virus from the email, thinks my account(s) has been compromised & advised me to scan my computer for malware before trying to go to my account again. My Software update shows I have the latest security, I never got a message advising me of suspicios sites or downloads. So how do I check for a virus or malware???

Mail on both my iMac and Air will not take any accounts online. Ive tried repairing permissions, creating a new mail account, and creating a new user account but to no avail. I get no error messages, and all the information for all the accounts are correct it just simply displays the triangle exlaimation but clicking on it, clicking "Take accounts online..." and clicking on the "Get Mail" button do absolutely nothing.Im on OS X Lion with all the latest updates.

I get this error message when attempting to use AutoFill for signing into online accounts such as Amazon. I know that AutoFill uses information from Address Book to fill out the form - that's why I have a card in Address Book with my name and email address on it - but I'm still getting this error message when attempting to use AutoFill.

no matter what I do, when trying to send an email Iget messages of SMTP offline'; I have tried all kinds of suggestions from on here all to no effect.
Tonight I deleted the accounts, logged off, rebooted and recreated the two email accounts. I can now receive email but still cannot send and get the same 'SMTP Offline' message as before.
As before the two accounts and same settings work flawlessly on iPad 2, windows laptop and two Android based phones, so must be linked to the iMac and Yosemite?

I had about 100 emails in my inbox, about 50 in my sent box, about 10 in my outbox and I had about 150 folders, some with 10-20 emails, others with several hundred emails. I was working offline, adding emails to my outbox and got some sort of pop up box message about repairing the email. I quit Mail (since I was not on line and had no access).
When I started my computer again and got online, all of my messages were gone, but I did have about 15 new mails since the last time I was on line in the morning. I have a PowerBook G4, Leopard, OS X Version 10.5.2, 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4, 512 MB DDR SDRAM.
I have a new mac and mail set up fine from the start. However late last week I was checking around in my comcast.net account and say that all the emails I had deleted on the mac over the last few weeks were still in my inbox online.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't connect the email on the mail application. I can't even go on the System preferences.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I fill in forms online etc, as soon as I start typing my name, address & contact details automatically appear. This is very useful apart from an old email address appears instead of my new one.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Mail, when you add an account, why does it take so ridiculously long to verify with no way to skip verification? At first I thought this was just my system but I've now had a friend ask me why it's so slow (took 17 minutes) and he's on a different ISP and everything. This means that 100% of the computers I've seen take an unacceptably long time to verify the account. This problem only appears to affect Apple Mail. I find it hard to believe that Apple could release something this bad, so I have two questions:
1. Is this normal?
2. Why does it happen?
Just purcahsed a new IMac. my e-mail is coming into mail fine, but how do I add my wife's account, and how do we switch back and forth from accounts.
Our older Mac is still up and working, we used Entourage for that, and I kind of would like to duplicate ithe process in Mail if possible. Still getting mail there too.
I was setting up the mail app on Leopard to work with Gmail, but the app won't go online.
I think the problem was that I left a box unticked during the ADD ACCOUNT.
Is there any way I can go back and fix it?
Mail has worked flawlessly for four years. Over the past several days, mail has continually gone off line when I am connected at home. My network is working fine (I am online and can receive and send info from skype/webpages, etc.) and when I connect through webmail I can send and receive messages. I have four mail accounts configured through the Mail, each is imap configured to a separate Gmail account. Each account shows the ! error which reads "The server error encountered was: The connection to the server imap.gmail.com on port 993 timed out." I can take my laptop to any other network and all the accounts go online and are completely fine for the entire session. Then when I return home they go offline again. I have tried to eliminate my wireless network from the equation by direct connecting to the cable modem, but the issue remains.
