Intel Mac :: Email Account Went Offline And Won't Go Back Online?
Feb 12, 2012
One of my email accounts (a MS exchange account) suddently went offline and hasn't come back online for days! I have the exclamation point in the triangle next to the ghosted name of my account. I've tried multiple times to go back online w/o success Connection doctor was not helpful
-I can still connect directly to the MS exchange account on the internet
I use apple mail to connect to multiple accounts. One of them went offline on Friday and refuses to come back on. The account is fully functional, because it's still working fine on iPhone, iPad and through Outlook 2011. It's like once apple mail decides an account is offline, that's it.Â
I don't understand that function in MAIL about Take Online and Take Offline. Just what is this thing for? In Online Status in the Mailbox menu, it shows my mailboxes and their status. Is this a way of NOT checing mail for certain boxes? If they are all set to Go Online then I assume all mailboxes get check when pressing command/shift/N, correct?
Is there a reason some of them would go offline on their own?
While online at a web site, filling in important forms, the screen suddenly fades to one side and disappears, and I cannot get it back, forcing me to start all over again. How can I stop this from happening?

Was working on my emails and computer crashed. When I turned the computer back on everything came back except the email program and emails.
Instead it asks me to open new mail account. I can find the emails on my hard drive but when I click on them...goes to same window to open and asks to open new mail acct. How can I recover and have access to my mail account?
I'm having an impossible time setting up a second email account on Mail. Seemed as though it would be simple but after I've done all the basics, it sets up the account on MobileMe instead of iCloud and there it stops. Can't send or receive messages.
I have set up IMAP accounts on my iphone, MacBook Pro and IPad 3 but cannot get it set up on my iMac. It appears as an account but will not connect and receive messages.
I have 2 mail accounts recently one has started showing to recipients that it is been sent from my other account, this is causing no end of confusion, am unable to see where this is going wrong
immediately after downloading yosemite which seemed to have resulted in my email account not working.Â
no matter what I do, when trying to send an email Iget messages of SMTP offline'; I have tried all kinds of suggestions from on here all to no effect. Â
Tonight I deleted the accounts, logged off, rebooted and recreated the two email accounts. I can now receive email but still cannot send and get the same 'SMTP Offline' message as before.Â
As before the two accounts and same settings work flawlessly on iPad 2, windows laptop and two Android based phones, so must be linked to the iMac and Yosemite?   Â
I cannot send outgoing my mail from my email account. Its saying two servers marked withalert icons are in conflict and cannot be saved.two servers cannot share the same address and authentication settings. resolve the certificate and try again.Ive delete the account now and re set them up but it still has an issue with the outgoing server which are the same...
It is running Mavericks OS with Outlook 2011 v14. The issue is we can put different email addresses in but the one we want to use will not work.Â
-For example: We put put in design@wowaccess.com and it works. We can put in email@wowaccess.com and it works. send receive no problem.Â
-We change it to sarah@wowaccess.com and it says it sent but never gets delivered. She can receive just fine. EXACT same settings and same server for all the emails. Also tried sarah.a@wowaccess.com and same issueÂ
-We have deleted all of the email settings and started over / no luckÂ
-We have compared outlook to another identical machine /no differences we can findÂ
-We put sarah@wowaccess.com on 2 different windows machines at our office using outlook and it works fine so I do not see how it can be server related.Â
I had about 100 emails in my inbox, about 50 in my sent box, about 10 in my outbox and I had about 150 folders, some with 10-20 emails, others with several hundred emails. I was working offline, adding emails to my outbox and got some sort of pop up box message about repairing the email. I quit Mail (since I was not on line and had no access).
When I started my computer again and got online, all of my messages were gone, but I did have about 15 new mails since the last time I was on line in the morning. I have a PowerBook G4, Leopard, OS X Version 10.5.2, 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4, 512 MB DDR SDRAM.
I made the mistake of choosing the "new" 3-column format in Mail when I upgrade to Lion. I'm guessing that most people love this, but I ain't one of them. My question: How do I get back to the old familiar list all emails at the top with email content views at the bottom?
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), System upgraded from 10.5
How do I use another browser besides Safari? I have not been able to access my online bank account and the bank tells me that it is a Safari issue that the Mac people have been working on. I recently upgraded to Lion.
So I took an account photo when i recently installed leopard at the start up...when it's creating the account and all of that stuff...
I was messing around with Photo Booth, and clicked the account photo button, and it replaced the old one that i like with a new one...
How can i get my old one back? where was it located? I have made time machine backups, so maybe if i knew where the old photo is stored at, i could retrive it?
We had a HDD fail on one of our office Mac laptops (a power pc G4). Apple repaired it and I restored all files etc from a backup. I was the administrator during the restore. Before I could get back, the user changed that account to a standard account and changed the name. Now there is no way to change the account back, because there is no admin to authenticate the change. Anything I can do? I am not an advanced computer/Mac person.
My macbook air keeps glitching. Everytime I start it up, I get a folder with a question mark blinking and i can't get into login in page. After turning on and off about 800 times, I got to my login in page. Ive read i can slip the hard drive out and slip it back in and it will be fine, but I just don't feel good about unscrewing the bottom and exploring my computer. Apparently it has something to do with the hard drive being fried, but obviously it isn't if i can log in one time out of many.Â
So obviously I want to back it up. (It's 11:24 at night). However, I need an external hard drive. Can't drive anywhere at night and grab one. Can't leave my computer on all night either. Is there an alternative way I can back it up until tomorrow? A way I could back it up online? I have programs on my computer i need back up that I don't have the disc to anymore, so its very important I preserve them. Â
Anyone else here use Ally Bank in Safari? The purple bar winds up blocking account information and looks even more out of "alignment" on the account screens once logged in. When I adjust the size using the + and - adjustments, other page elements appear wrong. I have the most updated version of Safari (4.0.4) and OS X 10.6.2 on my iMac. (1680 X 1050) [URL].
I got my mail accounts set-up on Mail 5.2 and it's working properly in that I can send and receive mail from three different IMAP accounts. The only problem is that sent mail items are not showing up when I login online to access my mail. I would like everything on my desktop mail account to be exactly the same as what I see online as far as read messages, unread messages and of course, the sent items that I have sent should be logged on the original mail account as well as on my computer.Â
I have already enabled "store sent messages on the server."
I have a new mac and mail set up fine from the start. However late last week I was checking around in my comcast.net account and say that all the emails I had deleted on the mac over the last few weeks were still in my inbox online.
I am facing a problem with the Messages App. The gmail account does not go online in the app (permanently stays disconnected). The same gmail accounts work on the Mail app. Are there some separate settings required?Â
Messages Version 8.0 , OSX 10.9.4Â
I have selected the Enable this Account option in Preferences. Server used is 5223 talk.google.com
Info: MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
I am VERY new to Macs have always had PC,s. we are switching the house and personal laptops to Macs. My major problem at this time is email. Is there a way to add outlook express email to the mobile me email account?
I'm interested in the site Carbonite to back up my Mac, but I want to use Time Machine and have complete backups of my system. I'm assuming I can't use Time Machine on that site, so what's important is whether or not I can conduct a complete backup of my system on Carbonite that would allow me to completely recover my system in the event of a failure or a new computer...something like that.
Am I better off just buying an external HDD and using Time Machine?
