Applications :: Possible To Use Apple Mail's Icon And Sort Of Drag'n'drop It To Use It On Entourage?
Oct 9, 2009I know it's kind of silly, but is it possible to use Apple Mail's icon and sort of drag'n'drop it to use it on Entourage? I prefer Entourage as my email app, but find Apple Mail's ICON nicer, so would it be possible for my Entourage to use Apple Mail's icon in the dock?

Oct 5, 2009Has anybody had any experience with Dock items disappearing? I simply drag and drop the desired application I was to remain in the Dock, and within 10 seconds it just disappears from the Dock! I haven't un-installed the application. I did have Dock items selected to Sync in MobileMe, but I disabled that as a test. I've also tried right-clicking the application while it's open, and selecting the 'Keep in Dock' option, but same result. After about 10 seconds of closing the app, it disappears from the Dock. I've run Repair Disk Permissions, no effect. I found a similar thread on this forum, but it suggested basically wiping the Mac and starting again, which I don't really find as a solution!

Apr 12, 2009I'm aware I can alter it for Firefox and Safari, but how do I point the 'downloads' folder on the dock to the new location? Or is it a simple matter of drag and drop from the new location onto the dock and remove the old one??
Didnt want to experiment in case its a 'special' folder.

Sep 3, 2006As the title suggests, I would like to remove the drop shadow plaguing the icon text on a white background.
This could easily be done with Windows but I'm struggling to find the OSX equivalent.
Coloured labels don't cut it as they don't apply to folder descriptions and don't come in white.
Applications :: Safari 4 - Drag And Drop Images Adding "JPEG" Extension
Mar 5, 2009this is driving me nuts. I drag images out of the safari browser all the time. Now with beta 4, it adds a .JPEG extension, even after the original .JPG extension of the original images. So if I drag "mactv.jpg" out of the browser to the desktop, I get "mactv.jpg.jpeg" on my freakin' desktop.

Jun 14, 2012I am a recent Mac convert and I just set up user profiles on my Mac Mini for my two kids. My son plays Pirates of the Caribbean online. I installed it on the Mac and when I opened the applications folder and tried to drag the icon into the doc it wouldn't drag and I got an error message saying I couldn't launch the application from there. I wasn't trying to start it from there, only drag it. There was no problem performing the same task with Safari. I also had no problem dragging the icon to the dock under my user profile (admin.)

Apr 5, 2012I was normally dragging pictures FROM Safari TO a folder. I don't want to "Save As...", because it's much more time consuming than simply drag and drop. All of a sudden, the feature does not work anymore. I can only drag images to a TextEdit, creating a Web Archive -- I don't need that, I need to drag them to a folder. Is there anything I can do? I'm using an iMac with Lion OS, and I did update to the last version of Safari.

Apr 24, 2012I've been having this problem for a couple of days now, it was working fine but all of a sudden I can't save a picture onto my desktop or any folder in finder directly from safari by dragging and dropping, I can do it in aperture and iphoto but not onto my desktop or finder, is there anyway I to correct this?!

Applications :: Safari Won't Launch - Dock Icon Bounces For A Few Seconds Then Gives Up?
Nov 12, 2009Safari suddenly won't launch on my 10.5.8 system on my Powermac G5. The dock icon bounces for a few seconds then gives up. I haven't installed any new software recently.I've tried deleting all caches, preferences and plugins, repaired permissions, etc. It doesn't work when logged in on my spare account either.

May 9, 2009When I turn on my Powerbook G4 (1.5 GHz) 15" a little Earth icon flashes about 15x. Then a small question mark flashes followed by the Mac smiley face icon. They alternate flashing about a dozen times or so. My computer then goes to the grey-on-grey Apple logo screen, then to the password login screen. I enter password and successfully get to my desktop, HOWEVER:
(1)the font on my menu bar seems to have changed. No big deal?
(2)The menu bar is incomplete as I'm missing my internet signal indicator
(3)My dock is completely gone. Cannot find it anywhere.
(4)I have desktop icons but cannot left click on any of them. When I do I just get a long blank white colored rectangle. When I roll cursor over it it turns blue. Still blank though!
(5)This is the same with the menu bar. When I click on anything (Finder, File, Edit, View, etc) the drop down menu is just blank empty space
Applications :: Drag And Drop Jpeg Into Email
Nov 14, 2009Every time I try to drag and drop a jpeg into an email I am composing it shrinks it. I have also tried adding jpeg's to iphoto and then emailing them through the button on the bottom. iphoto even asks me whether to use the original size, but when the email comes out on the other end it is always considerably smaller. When I add pdf's it keeps it original size. Does anyone have any advice?

And most of the time i realised i need a function like this. for example i am in folder1/folder2 ..and just want to take file from folder2 to folder1... but since there is not any "go one node above" option, i have to open everythng from the beginning... especially if those folders are located in a deep location such as user/lib/appsup/etc.

Feb 5, 2009When I have an Iphone or Ipod attached to the computer and showing up in Itunes, I was just wondering how to drag and drop movies or music directly to the media device, without first dragging it into the Itunes media library or into a playlist. I used to be able to do this. Since then, I must have updated Itunes or reinstalled it or something. But now I can't drag and drop anything directly onto the media player. I can't create new playlists directly on the media player either (I have to open them under "Playlists" and then checkmark them to be synched. I'm assuming there must be some sort of simple setting in the options that I've changed.

Jan 22, 2010I've recently purchased some webspace to which I upload files via FTP and then link to the files I upload on my various blogs. With a view to simplifying the procedure, can anybody suggest to me a program into which I can drag & drop any file, have it upload in the background, and then allow it to provide me with a user-clickable url rather than an FTP link to the file? I've been using Transmit, which I really enjoy, but I can't seem to find an option to grab a url that's viewable to everybody. Despite me uploading the files to my public_html directory it just copies an ftp:// link, which is of no use to anybody, and I then have to go into my webspace client's file manager system online and grab the user-viewable url. I seem to remember a program like this existing, one that would sit up in your taskbar and be active and waiting for files to be dropped into it for upload at any time but i had no use of it back then.

May 30, 2012Recent upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion. All seems good apart from the ability to drag a URL from the address bar to the dock for commonly used sites. When I attempt to there is a space made available but the "spring / @" icon is invisible (or perhaps not even there ;o)Â ). Hover the mouse over the "invisible" icon and the title of URL shows but it is inactive. I can drag ivisible icon from dock and I do get the little smoke gif as per normal but can't see or get functionality from the space where the icon should be.Â

Jun 9, 2010I freaking hate iTunes. Programs for simple tasks like uploading music onto devices should be efficently coded, not resource hogs that are incredibly unintuitive and needlessly complicated. Why can't we just drag and drop music and videos directly onto our phone like we can with just about every other media player? I already have all of my music organized just as I want it on my computer. Just let me drag the folders I want directly into the iPhone without having to bother with a 100mb download that runs like crap.

Software :: Safari Icon Moved From Dock To Desktop
Nov 23, 2008My safari icon was moved from my dock to my desktop. I am trying to move it back and not have the icon on my desktop. But everytime I drag it to the dock it leaves the icon on my desktop and puts one in the dock. I tried command drag but it didn't work and if I erase the icon on my desktop I loose the whole program. And my kids have an account for themselves and the safari icon is missing completely and they cant get on the internet at all using there account. Can I put the icon back in there account without deleting there account and starting a new one.
