I'm running OS 10.6.8, TextEdit v 1.6 (264) and find that documents created in TextEdit and saved with a custom scale (90% for example) and then closed always revert to 100% when opened the next time. The funny thing is when I close the document after changing the scale without saving it prompts me to save the changes, but even then it's not saved. So I'm thinking this behavior isn't normal, TextEdit knows it's supposed to be saving this but for whatever reason it's not. This is more in the category of a nuisance than a problem but I thought I'd post and see if anyone knows anything about this.Â

This issue just started today but any time I click on a PDF and do a "Save As" out of Safari I am getting the following error message:Â The document "document name" could not be exported as "save file name"Â
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I view a PDF in Safari it looks good. When I go to print it either the preview is totally blank or one page that I was viewing at the time previews and the print dialog box shows the additional 8 pages but they are all blank. I'm baffled. If I use Chrome and go from its interface to preview it works perfectly.
View 11 Replies View Relatedwhen opening a pdf in Safari I used to be able to press the right mouse button and could choose between printing and opening the pdf in Preview. This dialog seems to have disappeared (a new dialog with loads of unusefull crap like choosing tools is now shown instead). Most importantly, however, I can't print the pdfs anymore when using Safari's menu print (the pdf is o.k. it all works in firefox and opera). While the dialog opens correctly, only a blank document is printed. Also the export as pdf option does not work anymore.I'm running an Imac with mac os x lion, most recent updates installed. Safari 5.1.5

In Safari, I am no longer able to print web .pdf documents. The print screen pops up, however the preview document shows a blank page. I am able to print in Firefox, so this has to be a Safari problem. I have checked my Internet Plug In files and there is no Adobe plug in as suggested by others in similar questions. Turning on/off the computer has not helped either. Nor has Open PDF in Preview. I'm using an iMac with Lion and an HP Photosmart C4700 printer.

I have read on a lot of forums that it is possible to merge AND SAVE multi-page pdfs with preview. I can get all of the images I want, but when I go to save as pdf in the print menu, it only shows ONE page. I have seen tutorials online and I have followed them step-by-step (I have Leopard 10.5.6), and simply cannot make this work - it will only save one page.
I have Adobe in my parallels but I absolutely loathe opening it because it brings my computer speed down to a crawl.
Please, if someone knows of a workaround for this, let me know! I am taking tons of screen shots and trying to merge them as pdfs in a quick way so I can send back and forth with my web designer.
Since I have installed SL, when I try to print to PDF from the print menu or save a PDF I'm viewing with Preview (for example) from a website, the text of the PDF is completely garbled/scrambled.
I don't have this problem when I use Acrobat 8 Pro only when I am using the OS PDF or saving and/or printing from Preview. I have cleared the font cache, but no solution.
All of a sudden out of nowhere, one, and only one PDF, will only print on 1/4 of a page. Everything else prints fine, other PDFs print to full pages, anything outside of Safari prints as it should--it's just this one PDF in Safari, it's driving me crazy. I've logged out, logged back in, restarted my MBP, even reset safari--and nothing at all. All printer settings/scaling are as they should be, and the preview shows a full page document, but what comes out of the printer is 1/4 page. Here's the PDF: It prints fine in FF, but for some reason it's coming out super light/blurry/grayscale/crappy, so it's no good.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI created an excel document but I don't want the first line of information for the next bank of data showing when I print it. I basically want to be able to choose what prints on what page and how much of something prints on what page, by dragging the print line or whatever it is you do.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have iPhoto '08 or '09. On my PC I had Elements and using that I could print 4 pictures on one 8 1/2 X 11 sheet. I would start by choosing the pixs, editing them and sizing them to fit 1/4 of the sheet. Then I would create a blank white sheet, drag the 4 pixs over and position them on the blank sheet. I would then print that sheet. Can I do that using iPhoto?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe recently updated our iBook running 10.3.9 to a MacBook running 10.5.5.
The problem we have is with Microsoft Word 2004. In a multi-page document, Word only prints the last page, unless we specifically print out each individual page.
I found a thread that identified a problem printing to HP all-in-one printers. I followed the instructions in the thread and removed everything about HP printers from our Mac. I then re-installed the HP drivers from the MacOS 10.5 install disk.
I am trying to print a duplex copy on a HP CLJ 5550dn with Adobe InDesign CS4, I have recently upgraded from CS2 and had no problems with that in the past.
The problem I am having is that the duplex print only prints 3 quarters of the whole page either site. This is also happening on the one sided printouts too
When I try to print any document from a web page, i get an empty page, only the header line at the top of the page. Y work with Safari (last version) but the same I have with Chrome. From other sources there is no problem. I have two HP printers, one laser BW and a color HP Deskjet D1663.

So my friend has iWork 09 as well as I and im trying to help her and I cant figure this out. She has a presentation with 9 slides or so and she would like to print 6 slides per page.
Keynote does it, except it makes them all super small. Powerpoint handles this with no problem. So im totally stomped on this. It seems like the old Keynote did this no problem.
Since upgrading to Lion I have an extra page printing with every print job on my Optra E310 laser printer with cropped off USERID = "xxx", HOST ID = "xxx" and @PJL JOB NAME = "xxx". It seems to happen mainly in Apple applications, i.e. Mail, but has also happened in Acrobat Pro X. Admittedly, it's an old printer but according to Apple and Lexmark it is supported in Lion. I've tried every setting available but can't seem to eradicate the problem. Lexmark support, who were extremely unhelpful, kicked it straight back to Apple.

Mac Pro with 10.7.3 and Minolta 1250e PagePro printer, which is listed under the Driver tab as a Generic Postscript Printer. Apple did not have anything for this model listed under the popup menu selection "Select Printer Software". The driver for printer was written for classic so I can't install it from the CD.Â
Everything prints, but an extra page is also printed with the following message:Â

I can't figure out how to print multiple slides on a page. On Windows I would just select print preview and then select handouts... done. Now I have no idea how to do such a simple task. I figured it out, but I have another question. Say I wanted to print 4 slides to a page. How do I make these slides larger?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem using my Lexmarkt T620 printer with OS Lion.It prints everything as I want. But it adds at every printed job an additional page with only a few words on it and including information about the printed file. Something like ERID.I've never seen anything like this and I don't want to waste more paper when printing with my Lexmark.

After adjusting the paper size or fit to page in word or excel, the printing document often became blank even if it shows normally in preview.

Unless I install Adobe Reader all I get is dark black screen. I've tried using Firefox instead of Safari but have the same problem. Somehow a pdf created with Adobe Reader can no longer be opened with preview. I've check and preview is the default app for .pdf files. I tried deleting Adobe Reader for Mac but when I click on the web link preview can't open the document.

I have started having trouble with PDFs in Safari this week. I can see them on screen, but if I try to save them by Save As command, I get a message saying it cannot be exported as a xxx.pdf. If I try doing it through the Print command, saving it as a PDF, the preview window shows a blank document. Something has fundamentally changed in the last week.

Last year I could add pdf documents together in Preview to make a compilation that was much easier to print in booklet form as it avoided blank pages. Some time this year the behaviour changed, and now when I drag one open pdf onto the window of another, although on screen they look as if they are now one, even if I highlight each page in the sidebar when I press Print only the first one prints, which is a retrograde step IMO.Â
Is there a way to get the old behaviour back? This was a new feature in Snow Leopard and has been immensely useful to me, significantly increasing my productivity. It also used to be able to save the three pdfs as one file, but this too is no longer possible.Â
Is there a setting I can change in order to allow pdf import again? I can't even import files that last year I successfully imported to make new combined files, so I know it is not the pdf settings on the pdf file, it is definitely something that changed in preview itself in Snow Leopard in early 2012.
I run Microsoft Office on my MacBook Pro. I routinely "print" Word documents to .pdf files. My conversions to .pdf are now resulting in two .pdf documents rather than one multipage document. For example, a two page Word document about puppies would be converted Puppies and Puppies.2 rather than just one 2-page .pdf file. A 14-page file just also saved as two separate .pdf files; the first was only one page, and the second contained the other 13 pages. This is a new problem as of tonight; I've never previously had any difficulty. It's quite frustrating, and I can't seem to determine the cause.
