OS X :: Share Prewired Ethernet Connection Wirelessly

So I have just moved into a new flat in the centre of Sheffield UK. We are in the process of sorting out the best internet connection possible and it seems to be the pre wired connections that are in the bedrooms which are at 50Mb/sec... great. BUT! We want to share this wirelessly and as the only connection is via this walled socket (See attached photo) I don't know how to do it. It is not a standard BT wall socket but instead is something that an rj45 cable can plug into. Currently I have set up a wireless network by putting an rj45 cable from the wall directly into my mac mini and have set up internet sharing however this means that if I wanted to move or turn off my computer the wireless network would be lost! I have tried already connecting a current wireless router that I have (a Zyxel p-661hw-d1) but there is no dsl connection and therefore no internet. Would I need a wireless bridge? Just so you know the ISP is called Ask4, google it and you get to the homepage.
i have my mac pro using one ethernet port for net connection can i put a sec cable in the other port connect it to my macbook pro and share the connection?
I have an ibook with Leopard installed and its connected to the internet through airport. What I'm trying to do is share the internet connection to my xbox via an internet cable but i cant find any settings in system preferences to do that.
I'm trying to share my wireless internet connection from my mac to my PC, the mac is connected to a switch with a tp cable and my windows pc as well.The switch doesn't have dhcp so I had to manually type in the ip address
I was wondering if it is possible to connect a desktop and laptop computer using apple share or bluetooth to share an internet connection that is connected through an ethernet port on the desktop. My internet company is crap so I need to find a way to cut out the router, which I have to reset all the time to get a normal internet speed.
Desktop is a Mac Pro bought last April, and the laptop is a 12" Powerbook G4. Both have bluetooth, airport, and the newest operating system.
i have a windows pc desktop, and a macbook. I often find myself transferring the odd file to mac, and its a long winded process as my pc is strange. Can i just set up a folder on my pc which my mac can access wirelessly? neetwork? would this be via internet? wi fi? bluetooth? I would just like to access and download the file to mac, wirelessly. is this possible? ive noticed on my mac finder window i sometimes have my desktop pc listed under the shared heading. but ive never learnt what and how this is possible.
How can I share files between my iBook G4 and my MacPro, wirelessly? I've been searching online for instructions, and haven't found anything yet ... Also did a search using the Help files, but still no luck.
Just purchased a linksys wrt54g to connect my macbook wirelessly to my mac mini's internet. Please excuse that I don't know much, but...is there anway that I can hook my USB computer up to this router so that they can share this? It is an HP all-in one. I don't mind buying exra cables if I coud print off of both computers.
What I want to be able to do is plug into the Ethernet ports on this AEBS, and I want that to use wireless to the other wireless router to give me network access. Here is the deal, I have a computer that doesn't have wireless network on it, so it's only Ethernet. I have the AEBS at my desk, and I want to connect the hardwired computer into the AEBS. I want the AEBS to then wirelessly connect that computer that is hard-wired to the network...
you can share your eithernet connection through the airport but can you do it the other way.Basically i have a mac in my room and also a PC, i want to be able to plug a cable from my PC to my iMac and then browse the internet using my iMacs airport connect to my wireless router downstairs.
This looked like the best place to post this. I have two computers in my home, a 20" iMac with Leopard and a Desktop Dell with XP. There is an usb printer connected to the Dell, but its upstairs. The computers are connected through an ethernet cable. I was wondering if there was a way to print archives from the iMac to the usb printer. What i have been doing is either sharing the files and inserting them to a shared folder on windows xp or sending them to myself via email. I find both processes extremely annoying and boring, and would rather instead just directly send a command to the printer.
I just got a MacPro at work and I will use this machine in conjunction with my Powerbook a lot. I realized that I could connect the Powerbook to the MacPro with an ethernet cable, given that the MacPro has two ethernet ports. I turned on internet sharing and I am able to browse from the Powerbook and connect to the MacPro as a server. I expected near Gigabit connection speeds when transfering files between machines
the xp laptop cannot access the wireless internet and the router is too far away to use.Therefore i'm wanting to share my mac's internet with the xp laptop via an ethernet cable.I've searched for hours and I cannot find the correct way to do this.
I've got an ethernet cable and i thought i'd share my internet connection through 'sharing' under network preferences, to allow the windows 7 computer to get online as well.
the windows laptop cannot connect to the internet. I've managed to do this before with no problems when i was sharing a USB 3G dongle's connection over wifi.

Yesterday I bought a new MacBook Pro 13" and as a store option the RAM was doubled to 4GB. Everything has worked well so far, in both OS X and Windows XP through Boot Camp, except for either OS accessing the LAN cable on my home ADSL. Both my portable modem (EMobile network in Japan) and the wireless seem to work with no issue, and both OS will recognize the ethernet port. I'm concerned that perhaps the ethernet adapter was modified when the store installed the memory.
I can remove the ethernet cable from one computer (where it works without any settings changes on my Windows notebook) and plug the same cable into the MacBook and it will not be recognized. The Mac OS error is that no cable is inserted.
However, as it's my first Mac, I didn't know if perhaps some new settings are required to make things work smoothly. Is there any DNS settings etc. that must be set for it to connect? Also is there some kind of connection diagnostic that will specify the location of the error in the machine? I'd like to exhaust any option before shipping this back to the store to be repaired or replaced.
I am sure this may have been asked before , but I am having a problem finding an answer. I have an iMac (2008) and my wife has a ACER E500 PC (No WiFi connection), running Windows XP Media Edition. ive successfully done this before with 10.5 and xp and am trying to replicate with 10.6 and win7.
my imac connects to internet via airport. i want to share that internet with a win7 box via ethernet cable. i've turned on internet sharing in sys prefs but to no avail.
Got my iMac back in the end of February and it's been working flawlessly. About a month ago though, my connection started randomly dropping after periods of moderate internet-use. Say maybe, 20-30mins of browsing. It usually starts working fine after I shut the computer off for a while and try again. I thought maybe it was the ethernet cable, so I got another one, but with the same result. So it got me thinking, maybe it is my ISP. Called Verizon up and they said everything looked good on their end and that my IP was showing up fine. They reset my connection, but with no result. The gentleman on the phone suggested it maybe the computer.
I took my Dell laptop and tried surfing using the built-in Wifi for a while. 2 hours later...working fine. So I tried pluging the ethernet cable to the laptop, worked fine again. So now i'm thinking it HAS to be the computer. So switched the built-in Airport Wifi on the iMac on and tried it out. 2 1/2 hours later...everything works great. WHAT THE HELL!? I'm thinking, since it just suddenly happened, the problem must've been triggered by some sort of update I did(which I don't remember if I did). I searched the Apple Support forums and it turns out, several people have had the same/similar problem with their Macs with no solution.............

I have here a mac mini 4,1 that keeps losing it's Ethernet connection. If the mac is shutdown and restarted there is no connection, however, if the mac is shutdown, all the cables pulled from the back and replaced then restarted it boots and the connection is back. It was reporting a very strange mac address starting with 00 which I've never seen before and I also had difficulty connecting to it via ARD as it would show in the scanner but not connect unless specifically connected via IP address. At first I thought it might be a system upgrade as it happen when we upgraded to 10.6.8 since then I've wiped it and installed 10.6.3 and still no luck.
getting tired of switching the cable every time I want to get online (not to mention feel like I'm stepping on their toes when they want to get online and I'm on!).
