Nov 1, 2010Why is it that sometimes when I go to finder that all my music will have artwork but it will not embed in the preview pane. Or sometimes it won't show up in the little icon next to the file. I use column view in finder. There are times when album cover art doesn't show next to the song but I do in fact have album art for those files. Does it only work in the preview pane if it was actually added by itunes? I add some from iTunes and some of it manually. I would really like the cover art to be encoded and embedded as part of the file.
I have been spending a lot of time going over my music collection trying to get things in order. It will happen in windows also. I have been managing all my music on the mac (because it's much easier than doing it on the windows machine) and finding correct artwork and making all the id3 tags correct. When I transfer those files to the windows machine there will still be some songs that don't show the cover art on the icons when I do in fact have cover art for those files. Most of them show up correctly, but maybe 10-20% don't show the associated artwork.

Apr 26, 2012I have the following problem: when I have opened e.g. a pdf or picture in the Preview application, and select "eMail PDF as attachment", the mail application opens, but asks me for the password for my 2 mail accounts (although they are saved in keychain)Â
- when I enter the password it is accepted
- when I enter the password and check the checkbox for saving it in keychain it is not accepted!? (therefore maybe a conflict with keychain)
- when I have already opened mail, no password is asked (so in this case it works)
- when I try to send a mail from any other application (e.g. office), no password is askedÂ
I tried already:Â
- repair permissions
- keychain first aid
[URL]
- lion recoveryÂ
I suspect a problem between Preview.app and keychain, but don't know where to look anymore?

Jun 17, 2014Since the last OS update Mail does not like to preview. When I get new mail or scroll through recent messages the preview pane show "Loading.." or just dark gray (no content). If I double click and open the message in a window I get the same result.Â
Tried Genius Bar. They deleted a plist file and it work for a few minutes. Tried to Rebuild.Â

Apr 14, 2012I upgraded to Lion about a month ago. I didn't want to, but I had to to switch to iCloud which was the only way I could retain our family's six-year-old @mac.com and @me.com email addresses.Â
After working through a half dozen issues, everything seemed to finally be working smoothly. Just yesterday, though, Mac Mail stopped being able to open my iCloud email. It shows the sender, subject and the first couple lines of text in the listing of emails in the column to the left, but when I click on one or double click on one to view the entire message, I get "Loading" and a never-ending spinning wheel. Â
I have restarted everything, updated software, and repaired disk permissions. I don't want to delete the iCloud account and reinstall it because I have a couple hundred emails stored in folders residing on my machine.Â
My iCloud email works fine with my iPhone, iPad and on iCloud.com. I just can uses Mac Mail. But I access a half dozen other non-Apple email accounts-- POP and IMAP. Ironically, all the non-Apple email accounts work fine on Apple's Mac Mail.Â

May 10, 2009In Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?

Apr 22, 2012I just switched from Snow leopard to Lion and i don't like the way that Lion has the mail preview set up as a 3 column vertical format. I thought in Snow Leopard you could change the set-up so it's either horizontal or vertical, but I can't seem to find that option in Lion. I want to have the list of my email messages in the top, horizontal window and the preview of the selected message in a horizontal window below. Am I missing this option to change the view format from vertical to horizontal somewhere?

Using a mouse, i was able to right click and remove it from my pane, but in Spotlight, it still seems like its listed under system pref. how do i get rid of it all. Currently, if i select it in Spotlight, i am prompted to re-install to the pref pane.

Nov 8, 2009I can't open the Security preference pane in System Preferences. I can open desktop settings, spotlight, expos & spaces etc just fine, but the moment I click 'Security', I get the spinning beach ball, system preferences freezes and I have to force shut it down. I made a quick video using Screenflow to demonstrate the issue (the beach ball doesn't seem to appear in the video .. it did though)
