MacBook Pro :: Preview Use Outlook For Mail As Primary Email?
May 31, 2012
i am usning Preview on my MacBook Air, when ever i try to mail a documenet or a pdf in outlook, te Mail stamp jumps up which i do not use. My primary and only email sysmtem that i want to use is Outlook. can anyone suggest how to find where i can place the needied setting?
I used to use Mail as my default email client, but then my company insisted on me using Outlook instead. I have successfully gone into Mail > Preferences > General and changed the default reader to Outlook and that works great. This is the problem: when I cmd click on a file, I have an option to select "New Email As Attachment". This is still defaulting to Mail.
In the Mail app, I'm getting a circle with a triangle and an exclamation mark inside it. I can't receive or send my from this (Outlook Express) account. It's a work email account, but it has been working fine until now. I clicked Rebuild from the app menu (trying to fix it!), but that only removed all existing emails in the mailbox.
The last step in migrating over to fully using my iMac is my email. It's on Outlook 2007, and I want to make use of Mail on Mac OS. I've searched google, and found an Application called Outlook2Mac. Are there any other free alternatives out there? I don't see why I have to pay for something I'd use only once.
Email recipients using Mac Mail have been reporting that when they get email from me (from Outlook2007 in the PC), it would include all the tags. Also happens when I send as RTF. Plain text is fine.
So I did an experiment and since I am a mac user too, I tested it myself on my mac mail. Test scenario is this:
1. I send email from Outlook2007 (PC) using HTML as default.
2. I open with Macmail, I get garbage. (see below and/or attached file for illustration.)
My college email is a Microsoft Outlook Web Access Light 2007 account, using [URL]. I believe it is an Exchange account, as opposed to POP or IMAP, but I cannot find anywhere what to enter for "incoming mail server", "outlook web access server", or "outgoing mail server". I've tried [URL] which to me seems like the logical answer due to the generic example of [URL] along with a mix of other server names found on my email's about page.
I am an educator and my school system "upgraded" their Exchange Server and subsequently put Outlook on my computer. I configured Mail to pop over from Outlook, but now, I can't delete an email sent to my school email account without opening up Outlook and deleting it....it just keeps reappearing in my inbox. The problem is not the same on my iPhone or iPad, just on my MacBook Pro. So, I go for several days while the emails pile up, then open up Outlook and delete them one by one when I can't stand it anymore. Also, when Outlook is open, my computer runs at about 1/2 speed...everything slows and bogs down. Can I just delete Outlook from my computer?
I upgraded to Lion about a month ago. I didn't want to, but I had to to switch to iCloud which was the only way I could retain our family's six-year-old @mac.com and @me.com email addresses.
After working through a half dozen issues, everything seemed to finally be working smoothly. Just yesterday, though, Mac Mail stopped being able to open my iCloud email. It shows the sender, subject and the first couple lines of text in the listing of emails in the column to the left, but when I click on one or double click on one to view the entire message, I get "Loading" and a never-ending spinning wheel.
I have restarted everything, updated software, and repaired disk permissions. I don't want to delete the iCloud account and reinstall it because I have a couple hundred emails stored in folders residing on my machine.
My iCloud email works fine with my iPhone, iPad and on iCloud.com. I just can uses Mac Mail. But I access a half dozen other non-Apple email accounts-- POP and IMAP. Ironically, all the non-Apple email accounts work fine on Apple's Mac Mail.
I cannot receive mhy me.com email on Microsoft Outlook on my iMac. I keep getting the message, "Mail could not be received at this time. The server for account 'iCloud' returned the error 'Authentication failed.' Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?" Reentering the password seems to have no effect and the above message repeats itself.
Apple ID and Primary Email Address are locked and cannot be edited... I accidentally clicked "make my apple ID and Primary Email address one" and now I cannot edit it. I don't use my @mac account and am not receiving any notifications. How can I change my primary email address back to an address I actually check?
I am VERY new to Macs have always had PC,s. we are switching the house and personal laptops to Macs. My major problem at this time is email. Is there a way to add outlook express email to the mobile me email account?
My dad's old pc is failing frequently and it is time for a new computer. I have a MBP and he's seen the things Macs can do. He is considering an iMac but he does a lot of emails using an microsoft outlook email address. How does that work with Macs? I have heard of entourage or mac mail, what is the best method of syncing his existing email address with his new Mac? Will it work 100%?
Just installed Windows 7 on a MacBook Pro. Almost everything works, except for Outlook does not send out emails. It keeps returning a message "relay access denied".
My nephew and i haave a mess with our accounts I want to remove my name and put his in I want to add his email as the primary and remove mine completely Can this be done
I'm running Outlook on the MacBook, and I'm trying to change the views of the email to show my folders on the left with the msgs in the middle and a preview pane on the right. Anyone have a clue how this is done on MacBook?
I want to change my primary e-mail address that I use with Apple ID - says Select Edit next to “Apple ID and Primary Email Address.” But there is no 'edit' on that section there is on every other but not that one.
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5), I'm a beginner!
Upon the strong suggestion by the Apple website that I change my primary email address to match my AppleID, I did. However, there are no options to configure this email account, which exists nowhere in the universe. I tried sending mail to this new email address/AppleID account from my work account, only to have it bounce back as undeliverable. On the appleid.apple.com site, there are no options to reset the AppleID's primary email address. My AppleID is now connected to an email address that doesn't exist, I can't configure, etc. etc.
Info: MB Pro 15, Mac OS X (10.7.2), And: iMac 4GB 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
Is there away to import mail account settings from Thunderbird and/or Outlook Express into Mail? [that is mail.app, to help any one searching later on as Mail is too common a word to search for]. I've imported all my messages correctly but don't know how or if it's possible to import my account settings. Also: I'm in the process of migrating all my e-mails / mail accounts / settings and mail rules from Outlook Express to Mail [Mail.app]. I have successfully got all my e-mails across. I have also managed to convert all the e-mail addresses in the 50+ mail rules, as stored in the Windows registry, from hex into text.
Some of my rules have tens of e-mail addresses which if I had to add in each address separately would be a nightmare. Is there away of block adding in e-mail addresses to Mail? Also is it possible to manually edit the mail rules preference file(s) and insert the e-mail addresses into that? I'm aware I have to manually recreate the rules themselves but that's not so difficult. It's the adding back in of all the e-mail addresses that might be, given the large number that exist.
If I send a msg from Apple Mail to i.e. Outlook Express. The same msg shows up with "clean" text formating. That will say, no formatting at all. See this screen: [URL:...] I have just gotten back to the Mac now from 10-11 months in hell with Windows-stuf, so I am really eager to get this fixed. In Apple Mail the same message looks this: [URL:...] I dont want to change to Entourage, so excellent if you can help me out with this.
Apple Mail stopped working after replacing and restoring the Main Hard Drive in the upper bay. Internet connection is good, and the Mail client troubleshooting (Comcast) was no help. I can start the App, but it does not retrieve or send mail through Comcast anymore. I have a MacBook Pro with the same settings and Mail works fine.
I'm new to Apple. So I have my email set up and am receiving email. I am so use to Outlook and I miss it. The email program that came with my MBP is no where near Outlook. Or, is it that I just don't know how to use the email program? Can I set up folders and file emails? Can I display those folders and easily access them. Where is a calendar? Does Apple have a program similar to Outlook? I read where Outlook is available for the Mac. I'm tempted to buy it but want advise on the subject. I also want to buy the MS Office for the Mac. I hate to do that but I'm so use to those programs. If someone told me no don't buy MS basic programs because MAC has great programs and you simply need to learn to use them, I will hold off. I really want honest advise and perhaps the office and email products by MS really are the way to go.
