Isn't there meant to be something in this pane? Icons for Example Ringtone, loops and Voice? I've reinstalled Garageband twice and on not one of the three installs did anything show up in this pane. Each time I've installed everything like the loops and extras. I don't get it.
View 3 RepliesHave just downloaded Adobe Flash and went to do permissions where I found the file "install_ flash_ player_ osx." and also the icon with "Flash Player" directly underneath.These are listed under the list of drives to select on left side of pane. Is this normal? Do I need to do permissions? On HD?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhy is it that sometimes when I go to finder that all my music will have artwork but it will not embed in the preview pane. Or sometimes it won't show up in the little icon next to the file. I use column view in finder. There are times when album cover art doesn't show next to the song but I do in fact have album art for those files. Does it only work in the preview pane if it was actually added by itunes? I add some from iTunes and some of it manually. I would really like the cover art to be encoded and embedded as part of the file.
I have been spending a lot of time going over my music collection trying to get things in order. It will happen in windows also. I have been managing all my music on the mac (because it's much easier than doing it on the windows machine) and finding correct artwork and making all the id3 tags correct. When I transfer those files to the windows machine there will still be some songs that don't show the cover art on the icons when I do in fact have cover art for those files. Most of them show up correctly, but maybe 10-20% don't show the associated artwork.
Secrets is a Blacktree developed preference pane with tons of hidden options (you usually needed Terminal) for OSX and some apps [URL]. Its been really good for me, and I've changed a few things.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been editing a movie for hours, now, and iMovie has decided to stop working. I am able to skim the raw video that is displayed on the bottom, but my edited video on top does nothing. I can't play it back in the preview window, either while skimming or selecting whole clips to play. It will not open in full screen, either. I have restarted my computer, and I have repaired disk permissions. This is a very important movie, and I do not want to start over. What steps can I take to fix this problem and, more importantly, make sure that it doesn't happen again?

There are some configurable settings unique to both, so it would be beneficial to have both. However, I wonder, would there be any conflict: for example, if you choose to display hidden/system files in TinkerTool, but forget to also enable that setting in Secrets, what would happen?
I have iPhoto 09 running on Snow Leopard and a Canon 50D DSLR. When I connect it to the computer using the USB cable, it does not show up under the devices item on the left side pane of iPhoto. I've tried changing USB cables as well as the USB slot to which the cable is plugged, but to no effect. The funny thing is if I select the option to automatically start iPhoto when a camera is connected, then iPhoto starts automatically when I connect the camera, but still the camera does not show up under devices. Occasionally, it does show up when I connect it, usually taking a long time to appear.

View 2 Replies View Relatedin the last two days, when i make something in garageband and i want to export to disk. before i would choose my desktop and after normalizing and converting...it would put a mp3 on my desktop. recently when i do this, it normalizes the track...but it just stops after that....no mp3 on my desktop....i have to send it to itunes now and then pull it out of itunes to have an mp3....what is going on?

I'm having Trouble when i connect my guitar to my imac I'm using the midi guitar cable that i bought from the Apple shop along with my imac a few years back.
I'm just about to start recording some of my own music Bass,Drum,guitar. Everything is pretty much sorted but since i started to use garageband 09 i keep getting this message pop up (Below).
It's getting to the point of frustration because no matter what option i select it will still pop up. Please can anyone shed any light on this for me and help please.
I have a couple questions regarding GarageBand 08 and recording with it.
1) Is it possible to connect a vocal mic to GarageBand, put an effect on that, and have a live output of the signal coming from the mic with the effect on it without having to record the audio first?
2) I have a Yamaha keyboard that has a MIDI and 1/4" jack output on. I am interested in connecting the keyboard to my Mac for use in recording. Would it be possible to run the audio signal from the 1/4" jack to the 1/8" jack on my Mac and record the audio in GarageBand and be able to apply effects to that track (i.e. synthesizers)?
Can anyone send original icon of Garandband 11 please. The problem is that I change the icon for another one and now I want the original but I can find it in any sit web.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble getting sound out of Garageband - I've boiled it down to simply trying to play simple Apple loops or use musical typing to play software instruments. Sound is working properly in all other applications, including iTunes, Peak and Final Cut Pro. Audio input/output is set to Built-In in both GB preferences and Audio-Midi preferences. The MIDI is recording (ie, I can see a track appear when I play, and I see levels in the track) but for some reason the audio is not getting down to the mixer below (volume is up all the way on individual track and bottom right main, mute is off). I'm running OS 10.4.8 with Garageband 3.0.2.

It plugs into the line-in part on my gf's MBP (the one next to the headphone port, right?), and i choose "Line-In" from the sound preference pane... but it's still using the internal mic when recording on garageband. I also remember trying to record with my guitar plugged into the comp, and that didn't work either.

Everything works fine, except iPhone Ringtone which does nothing, doesn't make any templates appear in the window or anything.
I have been using Guitar Pro on PC for long time and I was wondering since there isn't any search result of MR on Guitar Pro.
I own an Alum Macbook now and if something is better in OSX I would love to switch.
So it comes down to Guitar Pro 5 vs Garageband 09.
I switched to a mac almost a year ago. About a month after purchasing my macbook, i installed this application, and then i didn't want it anymore. The app didn't uninstall properly and it crippled the mac (in my rookie mind). I then made another stupid decision of reinstalling leopard on the macbook. Everything installed correctly except garageband 08. It wasn't there, since i never used it, i just forgot about it later until i got a copy from a friend who recently purchased an imac. I just copied the app onto a flash drive and put it on the macbook. The app worked, except there wasn't any instruments, loops, etc. Now i want to use grageband and i was wondering how i can get those back. Are they on one of the install dvd's? Do i copy folders from my friends mac to mine?, if so which ones and where?

I was hoping to use the drum machine and record stuff off it, but I can't get it to do anything in GarageBand. Also I read somewhere that if you connect something by midi you can't use the software on the instrument and only the software instruments in GarageBand! If so, why is there stuff like the quantisizing feature on the drum machine when you record if you can't even using it in GarageBand
View 4 Replies View RelatedHave MacBook Pro, running on OSx and on 10.4.8. Using Sibelius 3. I am the only music teacher in my school so do not have the luxury of an accompaninist. I thought all my problems were solved when I discovered the wonderful real sounding steinway piano in garageband. So I input my piano score note for note into sibelius, then save it as a midi. Before I do it I input all my tempo edits such as rits, pauses and accelerandos and so on. I then drag my new midi into garageband and yes it plays beautifully only problem is it doesn't play any of my tempo instructions. Yes I have checked that they're playing back correctly in sibelius before I saved as midi. Pleas help me as I have practical exams for my students coming up very quickly and it is causing me severe stress

I have an Apple Lossless file over five hours long in iTunes. When I try to drag it into Garageband, it acts as though it is importing, but then tells me the ".aiff file is empty". But if I play the file in Quicktime, iTunes and in the iTunes section of Garageband, it plays fine.
