In Adobe reader->Preferences->internet Display PDF in browser using Adobe Reader (9.3.1) is checked and beyond this I'm not sure what to do to change from preview to reader.
OS X V10.7 :: Change Mail Preview In Lion From A Vertical Read To A Horizontal Read?
Apr 22, 2012I just switched from Snow leopard to Lion and i don't like the way that Lion has the mail preview set up as a 3 column vertical format. I thought in Snow Leopard you could change the set-up so it's either horizontal or vertical, but I can't seem to find that option in Lion. I want to have the list of my email messages in the top, horizontal window and the preview of the selected message in a horizontal window below. Am I missing this option to change the view format from vertical to horizontal somewhere?

Hardware :: Change Printing Defaults To Print "black / White"?
Nov 15, 2009I don't print much full color and when I do print I'd like to back off of the higher quality printing to save on ink. Does anyone know how to change the default to print a rough draft [and save some ink] rather than printing using a lot of black ink? Also, I cannot print in MS Word. I can print anywhere else, like stickies or whatever. However, my wife [on her account] can print everywhere even in MS Word.
I get an error message saying: Word could not communicate with the printer. There are several possible reasons: *Your printer or its driver may not be set up correctly or there may be a problems with the network connection. You may need to adjust your printer settings. *There may be a bad connection between your computer and printer. Like I said my wife and I share this 27" iMac and she can print fine on her account but I cannot print using MS Word.

In older versions there was a checkbox for a lot of things - if you changed the line style you could check "save this as my new default" etc. Is this functionality gone?

May 10, 2009In Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?

Applications :: Safari 4 On IMac Defaults To Mobile Version Of Google
Jan 1, 2010Like an idiot I thought I'd try switching user agents as I was messing around with iPhone optimising a few web pages. So I saw in Safari 4.0.4 on my iMac, the Develop menu, where I changed the user agent to "iPhone xxx". I then switched back to auto detecting user agent. Ever since then, the google.co.uk page has screwed up, as it always loads in mobile view, and not the classic view it used to: This is what I always get now whenever I visit google.co.uk: When I click on the "Classic View" link, I get this page, which displays correctly: Notice the extra text in the URL... which I shouldn't have to put that everytime! Strangely google.com loads up fine: I have deleted all cookies associated with "google" and also rebooted my iMac, but still google.co.uk defaults to the classic view. I tried forcing the User Agent to Safari 4.0.4, but it didn't make any difference as it still loads in mobile view! Here are the cookies I have now which relate to google.

Dec 17, 2010I have a 27" i7 with a SSD and a HD. I use Gmail / Imap, but I store my message on my Mac so I can easily search through them.
However, my Gmail account is large enough that it fills my SSD. I need the mail application to store the message on the HD. I can't find an option to make that happen.
Anyone know of a work around?

May 23, 2008I'm trying to print a credit card sized image in the form of a PDF file from preview. It's actually a scanned copy of an ID card and when I print it, it always prints the image in the exact center of the paper. I would like it to print in the upper left or right hand corner, so I can take the paper, re-insert it and then print the reverse side of the ID card on the same sheet of paper, but am not sure how to go about this. In "page setup", I can successfully change the orientation to landscape, but this doesn't help. I also can't seem to find any help in the printer setup section. I'm printing using an HP Officejet 6310. Is this possible using preview? I'm using OSX 10.4.11.

Apr 6, 2012So I just finished my latest short film, and I exported it to Finder. However I don't like the preview Finder chose for my video, it simply chose a random frame from my video and made that the preview of the file. I have a custom poster I made for the video I would like to make the preview of the file. I've look at other websites and they all mistook "preview" for icons. I am not talking about the icon of the file, I am talking about the actual preview of the file. If you open the Info pane of an image or a video file, there will be a tab under "Open With" named "Preview" and shows the preview thumbnail for the file. Can anyone tell me how I can manually change the preview of a file? I thought about importing the video into iTunes, change the cover art and take it out again, however because the file is encoded with Apple ProRes 4444 iTunes won't accept it and even if it did it would have been converted to other format, which is something I am trying to avoid and I would like to keep it ProRes 4444.

Apr 26, 2012I have the following problem: when I have opened e.g. a pdf or picture in the Preview application, and select "eMail PDF as attachment", the mail application opens, but asks me for the password for my 2 mail accounts (although they are saved in keychain)Â
- when I enter the password it is accepted
- when I enter the password and check the checkbox for saving it in keychain it is not accepted!? (therefore maybe a conflict with keychain)
- when I have already opened mail, no password is asked (so in this case it works)
- when I try to send a mail from any other application (e.g. office), no password is askedÂ
I tried already:Â
- repair permissions
- keychain first aid

- lion recoveryÂ
I suspect a problem between Preview.app and keychain, but don't know where to look anymore?
