Jul 8, 2010I have recently done a Time machine back up of my MB Pro 15" then wiped my hard drive trying to clean it up so I could install Windows 7 with Boot Camp. I had my original Install Disk which I forgot was Tiger, Having used one of my brothers company licenses to upgrade to Leopard but that disk is now with him in another country. So now I can not restore from my Time Machine backup. I have a Leopard Install disk for a Macbook Pro 13" which I also own. Is it possible to use this disk to re-install Leopard on my 15"?

Apr 10, 2009I searched for a while trying to find the answer but did not find it. I just installed Vista Business via Bootcamp. I am not able to access the internet or anything. If I read the help stuff right I need to use the OSX install disk to install the drivers. The problem is, I don't have the install disk. Is there any other way to get the drivers? Or am I just missing something easier?

G5 keeps hanging at install and also at disk utility. I've swapped both the osX install dvd disk and the entire dvd drive, but still hangs at os load or utility.

Apr 28, 2010I got tiger install discs for my emac but I cant get it to run the install. I tried putting the disc in and clicking the restart button on the screen that says "Welcome to Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger", but when I click it it just restarts my computer and does nothing. I then tried the alternate install it did the same thing it did nothing but restarted my eMac. I then tried restarting my computer while holding c key nothing once again. Then I tried holding down apple, option, f , and o keys and then typed in cd boot and also tried cdrom boot nether of them worked so i restarted and tried dvd boot/dvdrom boot nothing worked on all the occasion i got a grey screen with a circle with a line through it. What do I need to do to get these install discs to work?

When I installed the OS, I chose not to install iPhoto and iMovie because I didn't think I'd need them on this machine. Apr 23, 2010I have a 13" white macbook with leopard on it that I got about 2 years ago. Anyway, the other day I was cleaning stuff I didn't need anymore off it and I somehow accidentally moved the "library" folder that's in the "system" folder in to the trash. I tried removing it but it wouldn't let me, then my mac froze and I restarted and it just showed the Apple logo while flashing an anti-logo and a folder with a question mark on it. I took it to the Genius bar and the guy asked me if I had my files backed up and I said no, but he told me a way I could back them up on my girlfriend's mac using a fire cable and then just reformat it myself. So I bought the cable and put the files on my girflriend's mac. However, now when I'm trying to reformat it from the installer disk, it doesn't seem to be working. It shows the Apple logo and the loading gear underneath and then it switches to that anti-logo (circle with slash through it) and the loading gear continues. I let it run like this all night but still no change. I tried resetting the PRAM and other things. I've held C and held D to run a hardware test and it says there are no problems. I've held Alt/Opt and it recognizes the disk but it doesn't seem to load anything from it.

Mar 27, 2012My MacBook will accept and play CDs that contain music and data, but it ejects the OS 10.5 install disk and all DVDs after a few seconds of what sounds like it's trying to boot them. I'm running 10.5.8 now, and I need to do some disk repairs but am unable to designate a non-HD startup disk to use for that purpose. I've read several posts in the discussion forums, the last of which stated that this problem was resolved by inserting the disc over and over until it "took." After about 10 times of doing that for the last several minutes, it doesn't appear to be "taking." Another post mentioned an optical drive cleaner as a possible fix, and another concluded that a similar problem was a broken drive. I don't know about the latter, since my MacBook still plays CDs without any problems.

Feb 18, 2009Anyone with knowledge about what requirements a Vista install DVD/CD needs to meet to start an installation of Vista on a MacBook? I think I once heard you need a genuine Vista Install disk but that would prevent you from using Windows Vista Lite versions wouldn't it? Genuine windows vista takes up a lot of resources so there are good reasons to target Lite versions I guess.

Dec 15, 2009I'm having issues setting up a Tri-boot system on my Macbook. I can't figure it out at all. I've created the partitions, and began installing XP. After the set up, the machine reboots to finish the install, but I get a 'disk error: press any key to reboot' error after the install. I am not installing though Bootcamp, and I have insured the drive is an NTFS drive, as that is reason the disk error usually appears.

Dec 27, 2009I was excited to get my hands on our family's 'family' copy of Snow Leopard to install on my MacBook running Tiger 10.4.11... I'd checked out tutorials on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loFUyDjCbK8) on how to clean install Snow leopard onto a blank hard disk, and was all set to bring my OS up to date...
I inserted the Snow Leopard DVD and restarted and immediately held down the 'c' key and then... 3 minutes or so of the loading icon ticking later and the DVD was rejected and I only had one button to click on, 'Macintosh HD' to start up from.
After re-trying several times I thought it was because I was trying to do it with Snow Leopard on my MacBook running Tiger so I tried restarting this time with disk 1 of the Tiger DVD. This was rejected too!
So currently I am not able to wipe my hard disk as far as I know because I can't get to this screen to start the process (unless it's possible to do from within Tiger and if it is then I'm just worried that if I wipe it and I can't restart from the DVDs then I'll be in even bigger trouble).
Has anyone encountered problems like these and does anyone know of a solution? I've never had any problems with my DVD drive in the past which leads me to suspect it's not because of that.
