ITunes :: No Track Names On Playlists Burned To Disk?
Apr 22, 2012
I have made repeated attempts to burn playlists to disk. But now the tracks are recorded as untitled tracks (with numered order). When I reload the CD's to itunes, I'm prmpted that that itunes can't get track info. THis used to work perfectly, now fails every time. Interface errorr? Perhaps disks too old?
To burn my music collection onto a DVD I used Select All in the edit menu and dragged everything from the Music Folder into the Burn Folder. When I burned the songs onto a DVD the songs were all there but the artist names were missing.
I have imported many cd's into itunes and I know how to do it with info as long as it is a store bought cd or a copy of a store bought cd. I have been looking forever and cant find a way to import a mixed cd into itunes and have it recognize the info for each individual track. Is there a plugin or a separate program that could assist in this. I know you can do it one track at a time but modern
When I burn a playlist to a CD, the disc doesn't list track titles and artists. When I've searched the community I find posts that show how to change burning preferences, but these posts were from a couple of years ago.It appears that Lion doesn't give us the options for burning that Snow Leopard did.Are there settings that I can change to fix this problem, or is this another example of Apple becoming less user friendly.
Gonna be moving from my old mac onto a shiny new MacBook and while its easy enough to take over the contents of my iTunes and the iTunes Library file over to the new machine to preserve my play lists & play counts, I want to be able to take over the CD track name and information so if I put in a CD I had personally amended the information to, the information is still there as apposed to just connecting to the great music database in the sky and downloading the information like it does when I put in a fresh music CD for the first time. When I copied over the Library file to my new machine and put in a CD that had already been done it went ahead and connected to the database instead so obviously the CD information is not stored there. Anyone have any idea what file I should be looking at to copy over or is this going to be horribly difficult?
I have a imac running osx. I have the newest iTunes installed. When I "get track names", there are often several options for the same CD available. If I choose the wrong one, there is no way to undo the titling and choose one of the other titles offered.
When importing CDs track names no longer are found. This is a problem that has just begun. I use iTunes to download audio books to my computer and then move them to my mp3 player. I can enter the name of the CD and the disk number, myself, but on importing the track names are listed as track 01 etc. That means when put the book on my mp3 player I can only load one disk at a time or the first disk is overwritten by the second, etc.
I've never had this problem. The last time I downloaded a CD was August 2014. When I tried to import two weeks ago, all of a sudden the track names were not there.
I have a Macbook air; OSX 10.9.5; iTunes 12.01.26
I thought perhaps that there had been an update during the 3 months I had not been importing, but I don't know how to check on updates. I've queried this site and found that over the years people have had this problem, but I didn't understand their solutions (all were on earlier versions of iTunes).
I've been having lots of trouble getting itune to work smoothly, having lots of error messages. It frequently says things like" iTunes can’t verify the identity of the server “init.itunes.apple.com”." and other variants with different web addresses. Mostly when I'm trying to use the itunes store. And I've bought a CD recently and when I try to load it at search for the track names it makes the error noise, and a window flashes up saying (ironically ) "no error". This same album is on the itunes store to purchase.

iTunes has been unable to find the track names for a number of CD's I've recently tried to import. Some of them are on the iTunes store too. Each time I try it says "No error". Once it said "this user is not authorised for online use" but that stopped when I quit iTunes and restarted. Should I delete the app then reinstall?

I have two Macs, and on one I went through the arduous task of labelling a bunch of CD-R's I made ages ago in Itunes, and now I want to import those discs via different encoding into another computer, but don't want to have to re-enter all that info. When I put the discs into the original machine, the info is still assigned to the disc. I want to migrate that info to the other machine so I won't have to re-enter this stuff. I feel like I found this data at one point ages ago, but now I can't.
I've been trying to submit track names of a compilation CD with multiple artists (all different) to the CDDB database via itunes. However, when I choose "submit CD track names" under Advanced, it asks for a single artists name for the whole compilation. I've tried leaving this field blank but it comes up with the message: "This CD needs an artist name in order to submit this information". I don't want to add an artist name as the tracks are all by different artists. I've tried ticking and un-ticking the Part of a Compilation box (in the window that pops up to send cd track names and in the Get Info window for each track) but the same message appears each time. Is there any solution to this frustrating problem?
Its a commercial CD our company has had made (world music) and one that we will be selling copies of. I'm worried that if I put Various Artists it will change the original artist fields (which we want to keep) to "Various Artists" which isn't what we want.
when i click on an album in Grid view, the track names don't show up, and the "name" option doesn't appear in the column browser when you're choosing what to see.
After about three Cd uploads it acts up. It will start to get track names then stops. If I re-start the Mini it will work again for another three Cd's or so.
Tried but couldn't find an answer to this exact question. Here's the situation: I created a movie project in iMovie, then burned it to a DVD using iDVD. The burned DVD plays in my iMac but will not play in a DVD player. I get a Cannot play this type of disk error message. I used a DVD-R disk (Memorex). I can provide more information if needed to figure this out, but is there a simple answer as to why this would happen? The DVD player says it plays DVD-R disks. The disk works in my computer. Any ideas from the experts?
I have an Office Template that was burned by Windauz for Windauz and when I put it in the drive it appears to be blank, but it says it's using 40mb of data and the information shows up when I put it in a Windows computer.
I know I could put it on a thumb drive and put it on my MacBook but I want to know WHY this is happening and what to do.
I'm using a MacBook, and want to burn a DVD. The file I want to use is an 'MKV', the process runs and burns the disc, but I cannot play the disk on another device, only my mac!
When I insert the DVDs I have burned from Toast 9 Titanium into both of my DVD players they display "no disk inserted." The movies play fine on my computer, though. Any tips? Can I change a setting on Toast 9 to make the DVDs able to play on my (somewhat older) DVD players?
So after replacing my OS X disk drive with a larger-capacity one, I make sure that the drive has the same name (Macintosh HD) it had before.
Then I go to "Sharing" in the preferences and use the name "Alex's MacBook", with the exact same type of single quote, to match the name used on the TM machine disk (under Backups.backupdb).
Next I am expecting Time Machine to do an incremental backup.
No such luck: Everything gets copied.
What happened? I have had trouble in the past with Time Machine not allowing me to see the history when inside the star-wars-like TM interface, but the files were all there (I could still sudo and copy back anything I needed by hand). The backups were incremental.
I have compiled 8 tracks in hope to put them on a CD. After a long wait the CD was supposebly done, but when I tried to play it in my CD player it did not work. could this be caused by iTunes asking me to calibrate the CD? or is it because 5 were in mp3 fromat and 3 were in mpeg-4?
Quite often when burning CDs, The order that I have carefully set gets completely scrambled when playlist is burned. This is especially bad due when trying to burn books in my audiobook collection.
I have looked at a few Apple tech notes about this topic, but all seem to be of versions much older than that currently available.
Alphabetical orde is not the problem and one suggestion to use a Song command to set tracks in the play order, doesn't work since Song command.
Using itunes 10.6.1 and burning a playlist to 3 cd's in audio format the finished cd's have no song totles just track #'s. Thought I might have set preferences wrong, checked and seemed right but a second burn turned out the same. Last year I burned 12 cd;s in audio format to fill my auto cd cartridge and all had track names and artist. Is this just another feature or lack of in the newest version of I tunes? They are random songs so I can't even look up the album. The songs are to be used at a retirement party so they need a list of which song goes with a little skit.

How are most people tagging? Just first names? First and last names? I'm going to start the process tonight and I was wondering the reasonings behind people's decision.
I'm running 10.5.8 on a 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac. The machine often slows down dramatically and i can hear the internal drive going like crazy. When I look in Activity Monitor however there's nothing chewing up much CPU. I can see that there's a lot of disk activity going on however. Unfortunately I don't see anyway in activity monitor to see what processes are accessing the hard drive. Does anyone know of a way to track down what processes are accessing the disk?
I popped it into the iMac and did a Get Info only to discover that its creation and modification dates were yesterdays! I then tried it in Toast 11 under Disk Info and got no dates at all. just technical data. DVDs do display the creation date in Get Info but not CDs.
I have been burning CDs in Itunes on my iMac for a long time, but all of a sudden, the cds I burn won't play on my home stereo. They will play in my car. I've read about the 80 minute cds giving problems, but I have burned them before with no problem. Yes, I checked "Audio CD".
Is it possible take a playlist of songs and put those songs onto an external hard drive without finding each song in the finder and dragging it into the hard drive? I want to move just a certain few songs from my Mac Pro to my Power Book and I'd rather not waste CDs/DVDs in the process... but getting each file individually would be a huge waste of time. How can I make this process easier?
Early on after I got this G4, I messed with the settings in iTunes some and the first time I burned a disk and tried to play it in my car, it would not play. I burned about 10 different disks using 10 different settings (although I don't remember the particulars now). Never could get any of them to play. I have iTunes 9 and I wonder if anyone can tell me if it's possible to go back to default settings, or change the settings so disks will play on any standard car CD player? I just don't have the knowledge to do.
