View 1 RepliesI just burned a disk image to a Verbatim DVD-DL, using Disk Utility. My MBP 2.3 GHz, 2Gb Ram will NOT read this disk and ejects it, but another newer MBP will indeed read and mount this disk.I restarted the problematic MBP, repaired permissions, and said PLEASE.Still no luck. Before I burn it again with a fresh DVD-DL blank, what could cause this? The DVD drive in this unit works perfectly fine, under normal circumstances.

I have a late 2006 15" C2D MacBook Pro
It was working swimmingly until a couple days ago when I noticed that iTunes and Finder were no longer burning information on to CDs. Finder will burn information on to DVDs, I have not tried burning to DVD from iTunes.
Has anyone run into this problem? Here are the things I've noticed:
1) When burning on full speed, the disc just gets a "media write error"
2) When dropping to slow speed (2x, or lower!), iTunes goes through the burn process, shows the CD in iTunes as having been burned, but when you eject the disc, there is no data. If you look at the disc, there is no data or burning marks, etc.
3) DVDs from finder show burned marks, and will hold data.
Here's what I've changed to my MBP in the last couple weeks:
1) ran iDefrag in order to free up a lot of fragmented free space. Worked great.
2) moved my iTunes music and video to an external Lacie FW800 drive. (I'm moving it all back to the MBP now to see if this is an issue, but when trying to burn files off the actual MBP hard drive, it still doesn't work to CD. The external drive is HFS+)
3) ran BootCamp to get an XP partition (15gb out of 160gb), which is fine (haven't tried burning in XP yet.)
When I was discharged from the hospital recently, they gave me a disc with all of my x-rays. Unfortunately, the disc won't read in my MBP. It inserts just fine, spins for a second, but never actually mounts on the desktop. When I eject the disc, I see the cd mount image briefly appear on the desktop before the disc pops out.Â
how I can get this disc to mount without pulling out my crusty windows laptop?

I have been using a Macbook Pro almost exclusively for about a year now. The one challenge that keeps coming up is how to get Linux ISO's burned on my MBP to actually work on new servers to load a fresh Linux OS.Im running the latest version of OS-X 10.5.5.I've tried using:
1. Disk Utility to simply burn the ISO
2. LiquidBurn
3. BurnX free
* All of these burn the disc without any errors, pass the media verify and are readable on the MBP.
The problem is that when put into a new Supermicro (or any other) server and started the server will not boot from the disc, in fact nothing but a mac seems to be able to boot from these discs.I've taken the same exact ISO and moved it to a windows laptop and burned the ISO with Nero and those discs work and boot on the servers perfectly. This tells me it's not the media and not the ISO.What am I missing here ? I feel stupid that I can't seem to get this to work and I'm getting really tired of making coasters.I hope I'm not alone with this problem. If anyone has any ideas please fill me in.

I burned photos to a CD-R and the CD-R automatically ejected. The photos are now on the CD-R. Now I keep getting an error message that says to complete the burn before I can quit iPhoto. I can not shut down the computer until iphoto shuts down.

I'm trying to figure out what happened, and what is wrong, with my computer screen. I know it's not a dead pixel, since it's still visable. It's like a burned image, like you would get on a TV. I didn't do any physical damage to it, I know that for sure. Here's a photo. It's the ghosty off-white area that's on the left hand side of the black rectangle. (I made it back so you can see it better on camera, it's not the problem).Â

Here's the deal on an old MacBookPro Intel Core Duo 2.16 GHz! The disc can’t be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media. Basic problem is the dvd burner doesn't burn!Â

I have a problem using MAC snow leopard OSX Install DVD since my MAC mini does not contain DVD drive. And I assume external dvd drives do not get mounted properly in MAC unless it is a firewire drive which I do not have.
I am a newbie to MAC
Can we burn the OS onto CDs and use CDs to install? Did anyone ever use CDs to install MAC OS?
I have the .dmg file available too!
Is there anything else i have to do after i burned the iso disk and installed on vm?

I would Rather not have to pay anything but if it is needed its not a problem.
I'm in the middle of using Toast to make copies of previously burned Data DVDs and suddenly Finder decided it won't mount one of the discs! The disc was burned using either Toast or Disk Utility (just like the others I've been copying) but it won't mount using either my internal SuperDrive or my external Lightscribe drive. Running OS X 10.7.3 with all the latest updates...

I was able to make a 4-minute movie on iMovie ('06) and burned it to a disc, but the following error message appears (the file is not too large for the disc, which is a DVD+R, 4.7GB).
"The project could not be opened, because the disk is full, the folder is locked, or the folder permission are incorrect.
,
"If the project is on a CD-ROM, network server, or locked disk, then copy it to your hard drive before opening it.
I have compiled 8 tracks in hope to put them on a CD. After a long wait the CD was supposebly done, but when I tried to play it in my CD player it did not work. could this be caused by iTunes asking me to calibrate the CD? or is it because 5 were in mp3 fromat and 3 were in mpeg-4?

View 8 Replies View RelatedA relative of mine has a iMac with OS Leopard or 10.5.8. He does not, however, have internet access. So, for x-mas, I was thinking of downloading (purchasing) some software for him, and ship it on a cd-rom or dvd-rom. As I use a PC (Dell laptop with Blue-Ray dvd burner), I have done some searches on this and they all seem to revolve around bootable discs, disc images and/or are 4+ years old.As I'd like this to run without to much issues, and I can't test it beforehand, what should I be keeping in mind for this process?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have recorded movies from our TIVO to a DVD burner. Once on the hard-drive of the burner we burn them to DVD. Some, actually most will not play on my mac. It seams that the DVD +R never play and the -R sometimes play. The ones that do play open in DVD player, Quick time , and front row. The ones that do not play, do not play in any program. When it appears in the Desk top I click on the disk and it shows the audio files and the video files in separate folders. Also I have noticed that the DVD's that do play have a number appearing under the disk when it shows up on the desk top and the ones that do not play do not.

View 6 Replies View RelatedQuite often when burning CDs, The order that I have carefully set gets completely scrambled when playlist is burned. This is especially bad due when trying to burn books in my audiobook collection.Â
I have looked at a few Apple tech notes about this topic, but all seem to be of versions much older than that currently available.Â
Alphabetical orde is not the problem and one suggestion to use a Song command to set tracks in the play order, doesn't work since Song command.Â
I've been reading other support sites discussing this topic and I have yet to see anything that solves this issue. I have a DVD from a photographer with pictures on it. It works on a PC and a Mac running snow leopard. Lion WILL NOT read this DVD. It tells me it is a recordable DVD but does not show the pictures. I am highly annoyed that upgrading to this OS has created this issue. I don't want to go back to Snow Leopard just to view this DVD (and I don't know how to revert back to it either). I also don't want to put it on my ancient PC desktop just to view the pictures. My DVD player is just fine. It will play movies but not recognize the picture DVD.
