when I start up my computer, it starts loading and gets about a 1/4 of the way along then stops and brings up a blank screen that is sometimes flashing or just blank

I have a Canon LBP6000 laser printer. I downloaded the Yosemite driver from Canon after updating to Yosemite, and the printer worked up until a few days ago. Now, I can't print. The printer status monitor says "printing" with a status bar, but nothing happens.
I have tried remedies such as deleting all printer drivers, deleting the printer, resetting the printer system, restarting the computer, reinstalling the printer, resetting PRAM, updating to 10.10.1. Nothing has worked so far. It was working fine a few days ago!

Ever since updating to Yosemite, I have noticed an odd behavior from the menu bar. When I switch between apps, the menu bar doesn't always change. Like right now, the menu bar says "System Preferences..." and shows all the menus for System Preferences, but when I select a menu, the proper one drops down. how I can get my menu bar to display the proper menus?

When I receive an iMessage on my iPhone, the message is successfully pushed to my Mac and I get a notification in Notification Center. That's fine. However, when I launch Messages either by clicking the notification when it appears or by opening the app, no conversations appear (window displays "no conversations selected") and after a while it just leaves me with a blank window and only minimize / fullscreen enabled. The majority of options on the dropdown menus are also greyed out.
Considering that the messages themselves are successfully getting pushed to my Mac, I don't think it's an account issue. It seems as though the app is getting hung up trying to load up my conversations.
I originally had this issue on 10.10.0 so I thought that it may have been a bug and updated to 10.10.1. It only started happening a few days ago, I've been running Mac OS 10.10.X since several days after launch with no issues.

Image Capture 6.6 for the Mac worked fine with my iPhone 4S, which I recently replaced with an iPhone 5C. With the 5C, two things are missing from Image Capture--
1) the small button with the red strike through circle to delete photos
2) the box you can check to delete photos after importing them.
How can I get these two things back?

Since installing Yosemite, when my Mac Pro comes out of sleep, I get a "Disk not ejected properly" for each disk drive attached by Thunderbolt 2. This all worked fine on Mavericks.
(I have a similar problem with my dual displays, which again worked fine on Mavericks - I've posted this on a different thread under Mac Pro).

I have reviewed the Preferences of these programs, and see nothing to uncheck regarding auto startup. And I don't see anything related to this in System Preferences. I have a G4 10.4.11 and I tried installing my wife's Leopard 10.5. After I inserted the DVD the computer started the typical ''restart'' process. Once the computer turned into the installing screen, it informed me that I had to have a 10.5 version installed in order to install this version. At this point it only offered me two options... "continue" with the installation (which only led to the same message) and "cancel" which was the option I chose. Once I clicked on cancel, it offered me 2 sources to start my computer on... the DVD and OSX (which had the mac classic icon on).... i clicked OSX.
Now, every time I turn on my computer I see the following icon flashing on a grey screen for about 3 minutes: (URL)
Followed by these 2 folder icons also flashing after the other for another 2 minutes: (URL) (URL)
Also my mac has been freezing up a lot during the past month... I have to pull the plug out... I added 2 memory cards a while back each 256mb but apparently didn't make a difference... any tips on how can I cleanse my computer out of hidden useless files that might be eating up the memory?
I have a 2007 aluminium imac running Snow Leopard. It needed to have a disk drive replacement recently under applecare. Since I got it back I have noticed a marked dimness in screen brightness starting about halfway down the screen, most noticeable against a window with a white background. It is pristine white at the top of the window but from about halfway begins to get dimmer. Its a bit like being in sunlight and the coming into shadow, or finding mist creeping into the picture.
I have tried recalibrating it but it makes no difference. It might have been there before the repair but if it was I didn't notice it or else I grew used to it but now I find it quite distracting and it does make text a little harder to read as I'm getting on in years and my sight needs all the light it can get. Is it normal or is it a sign of problems beginning to manifest themselves with the display? I wouldn't like to ignore it & find myself out of applecare cover when it does.
I have had a Mac for almost a year now and I think its time I wipe it clean. I was wondering how to properly restore my computer safely and securely.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is unnerving. At random intervals, my screen flashes. It more like "winks" - as though a screen capture was being made. Actually, when you make a real screen capture, the screen doesn't wink, but that's the impression I get. The screen doesn't flicker or flash like it's a hardware bad connection, but goes through a fast, but continuous normal-white-normal cycle. I'm looking at my activity monitor to see if something is unusual, but I can't tell. Everything I look up seems to be real.

Well, here is my situation. About a few months ago my computer was steadily starting to slow down and freeze everyone once in awhile, then it started to get worse and finally I couldn't even get past the blue loading screen during startup. I figured this was due to some movies I downloaded and even though it is rare I may have got a virus. So I reformatted and lost all my data. The computer worked for a few months until this past week when I was in the hospital of all times to start acting up again. However, this time I barely had anything on it and it started to do the same thing again but much quicker though the process. Within two days I couldn't get past the blue loading screen.
I called apple, and they had me go through a bunch of restarts and all there trouble shooting processes. The computers hardware checked out perfect and we tried to delete some files to correct a software problem, but that didn't work either. So, his next option was to have me completely reformat once again to fix the problem. So, I reformatted once again, lost all my data once again and now it is doing it again the very next day.The MacBook is less than a year old and I purchased AppleCare with it. However, I was wondering since they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it what are they going to do since they don't know what is wrong?
If they give me a refurbished one, that would most likely mean that Im getting an older one because I purchases this laptop in September last year right before the new models came out so this is one of the very last models that were shipped. Do you think that they might give me a new model if I ask? I don't want to deal with a refurbished model when I spent this kind of money and on top of that bought AppleCare for another $350.

My dual screens are flashing, sometimes fading in and out of blue. Sometimes when they flash back to my normal desktop from the blue, everything is frozen, I can't move the mouse or do anything. It's a 2.16 intel Core 2 duo with the ATI Radeon X1600 128MB video and I'm running OSX 10.7.3. It started happening on Snow leopard so I thought maybe upgrading to Lion would fix it but it has continued exactly the same. I've had an issue for a while now where the computer would just freeze all of a sudden. It happened after a few days at times while sometimes it happen right after a reboot.
Here are the things I've tried.
1. I upgraded to lion
2. I replaced the ram
3. Look at the crash log but found nothing
4. Ram mem check utility but it found nothing
I can boot the computer in safe mode by holding the shift key and it works perfect with no freezing but I loose audio support becuase I think it's not loading the audio drivers. Question is: Can I select what drivers I want on boot when starting in regular mode not safe mode in order to try to disable drivers until I find the issue? Is there anyplace else that I can find which driver caused the computer to freeze after a freeze/crash? If I can ID the driver is there a way to update/replace the driver if it doesn't come up in "software update"? I'm thinking it's the video driver becuase I would occationally get some weird things happening on the screen that I attributed to an older display.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 2008 Mac Pro, which has served me well since I got it, at least until a day or two ago. At that time, it started exhibiting sporadic black flickering on screen, paired with freezing. At first, everything would freeze except the audio, which would continue playing uninterrupted, and after a minute or so the system would unfreeze like nothing happened. Now, though, it seems to have gotten worse; the system doesn't seem to recover after a flickering episode, and even the audio will get stuck into a one second loop after a while.
I tried resetting the PRAM and the SMC. When that didn't work, I tried restarting into Lion Recovery mode with Command-R. For some reason, that sent me right to a reinstall screen, but it didn't matter, because the screen started flickering and the system froze almost immediately after startup. I'm pretty sure that what it froze in was a separate recovery partition, so that should rule out any software issue. I'm guessing that my video card is fried, but I'd like to see what others think; I'd like to avoid buying a video card that I don't need.
